You would presume that someone with the wherewithal to reference ballooning would understand the context of the phrase "first in flight" as it pertains to the United States but perhaps that's far too presumptuous on my part and they somehow didn't actually make that connection. Or they're being a contrarian for the sake of going "ha, got 'em" on the internet. I'll never understand that latter bit.

I always get the AVGN and the Nostalgia Critic confused as they both "peaked" around the same time but I didn't really pay enough attention to either to really know who's who (I mean, I know their faces from back then but which name goes with which....I dunno).

Lived and operated their business in Ohio and had their first successful airplane launch in North Carolina

For the landmark purpose, I'd say it's North Carolina since that's where the flight actually happened

My personal observation of Target is that the local ones are located in the remnants of shopping centers that peaked decades ago. I can't imagine that shopping in an otherwise derelict mall is appealing to a lot of folks.

I don't really feel bad for them because they crossed the line by going behind the counter. I'm a bit confused about why the manager's ONLY intervention in the deal is throwing scalding water since you'd think she'd actively try to deescalate the increasingly irate customer(s). If the women don't go behind the counter, they don't get burned but if the manager had bothered to handle it like she was supposed to, then chances are it never would have gotten to that point.

I'd be curious to see how a pair of NFL or NHL tickets in the same/regional markets compares to the 4 MLB tickets.

I actually thought Sweet was a great foil to his younger brother, Carl. They more or less came from the exact same circumstances but Carl was willing to look beyond the Grove to, well, just be better. Sweet's resentment of Carl was multilayered but most of all he hated that he was all alone carrying the flag for a dying crew and his little brother who used to puppydog him had the ambition and resourcefulness to live a better live, ultimately taking their sister along too because she ALSO wanted better.

Like as in "this is a guy I root for?" No.
Like as in "this is a good character?" Yes. I think Sweet was a good character as an example of what "could have been" for Carl had he not come across the endeavors and connections that enabled him to change his situation.

I've never cared how others watch stuff.

Floppy disk - used them through my first two years of college
Typewriter - I didn't own my own computer until college so I used a 3rd hand electric typewriter. I have also "tried" the traditional type on a museum tour before.
Rotary phone - My house phone was a rotary phone until I was like 9. Got pretty good at using it.
Paper maps - I mean, I STILL love these things though now it's just to confirm what the GPS says
Cassette Tapes - wouldn't be a 90s kid without having used all myriad of licensed, bootlegged, and self-made cassettes
Dial-up internet - probably the thing that I'm least experienced with. After I went to college and got all fancified with PCs, my parents bought by sister one and they initially used a dial-up connection. She used it far more than I did.
Film rolls - used them but never really liked them. Always preferred Polaroids because convenience was more important to me than quality back then.
Car window crank - yep, in several cars too. Hell, my uncle had one with a broken handle that you really had to mess around with to get working.
Yellowpages - All the time until I got my first internet capable phone about a decade ago. Even though it's been ages since I've used one, I still think they're a good reference and it doesn't hurt to keep (exactly) one on hand.

I'm still a thirtysomething so it's weird to think that there are like two whole living generations (Zoomers and their children) that will have minimal or no exposure to any of this. I don't lament that but I think it's unfortunate that the usage of physical reference materials like road maps, atlases, and phone books aren't really being taught anymore. It makes some degree of "sense" with the technology that's available but it's good to know how to find things without asking Google or Alexa to do it for you.

There are obvious traits that I've inherited from both parents but overall I have very little in common with them when they were at this stage of their lives.
