I don't know how the trainer at the gym does it, but he has sped up versions of songs during class like the songs "dont stop believing" and "some kinda wonderful" that I really like even more than the original, and always got me to give that extra last bit of effort to finish the exercise. But when I try to replicate the song speeds at home on 1.25 speed it doesn't sound right, nor 2x. Don't know how he does it.

You can use Audacity to speed up songs... I've done the same thing your trainer did with a bunch of Gaga, TS, and Kesha songs.

Usually I use 1.20 speed or even 1.15. 1.25 is just a little too fast for 120 bpm songs.

edit: You can use Audacity and watch some tutorials. The basic idea is that you have to lower the amplitude of the sound waves by the same percentage as you lowered the frequency.

So if you speed a song up 1.5 times, you need to lower the amplitude by 1/1.5 (66.666% of the original) and then everything sounds "normal but fast."

To make Nightcore music, you just speed up the song (usually 2x) and then you don't lower the amplitude to get the "chipmunk" voice.

Got that Elton John on 1.25 speed and it's still slow. Demonstrably better at 1.25x no doubt about that.

We popped it up to 1.5x speed and now we are jamming.
