You can buy smart switches for as little as $25, and tie them into a few 3rd gen Echo Dots, $25 each (or less for used). You can have smart lighting for a typical 3 bedroom, 2 bath house for around $300-500, and you don't have to do the whole house all at once, you can do one room at a time as you can afford it. (That's what I did)

If you are exercising more and eating the same but you're not losing weight you may be losing fat but gaining muscle mass. "Weight" and especially "BMI" are really useless because they don't factor in muscle vs fat. When Arnold Schwarzenegger was at the prime of his bodybuilding career, he weighed 235 pounds and had a BMI of 31, which is considered obese!

Smart switches on most of the lights, a smart thermostat on the HVAC, smart plugs on the fans, smart TVs and a smart remote for the not-smart TV, Blu-ray player, and VCR, and Amazon Echos in every room.

I started getting really interested in remote controlled stuff about 7 years ago when I got a nasty lung infection that eventually put me in the hospital. I was stuck in bed for weeks and it was difficult and painful to get up to do things like turn off the light. Now I can control the lights, fan, and thermostat from the bed.

It's sure nice to be able to do things like adjust the thermostat from the basement, turn on the outside lights from the car, or turn on the exhaust fan from the bathtub. I can also automate stuff, like turn on the fan in the barn when the temperature gets too hot. It can even act like a security system, with Alexa monitoring for the sound of glass breakage or smoke alarms and controlling the lights to make it look like someone is home.

An evolutionary dead end?

Consider a few factors
-Human children are not capable of caring for themselves, and typically require some approximation of the "family unit" to flourish. When fathered by "alpha" males, children are denied this atmosphere and this leads to a lower socioeconomic status later in life
-Human evolution has traditionally involved min-maxing towards cooperative, communal behavior patterns. When we introduce an alternative driving force towards selfish and less socially adaptive traits, we introduce cracks and fissures into the gene pool.
-By incentivizing direct competition between human males rather than binary pairings dictated by affection or economic alliance, women unknowingly encourage violent conflict between potential mates which results in only the more "primal" males prospering through force of arms (ie white genocide).

This leads to a few potentially contradictory conclusions
-while the shift in women's attitudes has traditionally been analyzed through the lens of social decay (sin) the consequences are much more broadly reaching than that and could alter humanity on a broader scale
-the issue is potentially self correcting as we will eventually reach a point where copulation through feminism is no longer viable and more natural means of dividing this resource will emerge as a survival mechanism

In more mundane terms, he's bought the house, but he still needs to get all the paperwork settled and actually move IN.

He's made an offer and the owners have agreed to sell, but he still has to get the money together and it has to go through all the paperwork (in real estate terms, researching title, checking for liens and easements, surveying the boundaries, establishing escrow, etc)

The Star Wars RPG explains that many species tend to find misaligned ships to be disorienting, so they will prefer to place their ships in the same orientation. Tradition holds that all ships entering an area will align themselves with the first ship in that sector.

Having spent hundreds of hours playing X-Wing and TIE Fighter, it does feel vaugely uneasy approaching a Star Destroyer or other ship "upside down" and I would tend to rotate my ship so the other vessel is "right-side up"

The comic book Albedo probably had some of the most scientifically accurate spaceships and space combat. The ships are basically cylinders with the decks perpendicular to the thrust axis so that gravity is generated during acceleration/deceleration.

Combat is done entirely through kinetic weapons, simple robotic projectiles accelerated to a fraction of light speed. Because of the incredible speeds weapon guidance and defensive interceptors are handled entirely by computer. Lasers are useless because of the relative speeds and explosives/nuclear weapons are basically pointless since even rocks can do just as much damage (or more) at relativistic speeds.

The most unbelievable thing about Batman is every time they add some magic bullshit to it, just leave him as a realistic psycho, it's better that way.

Ivy, Superman, Clayface, Mr Freeze, worst Batman villains. Left out of the good movies for a reason. It's like adding real magic to sherlock holmes.

I like it when he deals with mob bosses and serial killers better.

That's how the original Batman was. I've read Batman: The Dailies, which was a collection of the daily newspaper strips from the 1940s. Nearly all the enemies are regular crooks, like gangsters and mob bosses. The only "super" villain he goes up against is the Joker and even that is only a single story near the end of the run.
