I liked it a lot, Im really surprised at how mature it was. It felt like a live action movie, with a developing story, while a lot of the other Ghibli films felt a little more like wild dreams (not saying thats a bad thing). This one had a much more engrossing story and I was really into it. It truly felt like it took place in the late 1920s - early 1930s.

I loved Porco as a character and I really loved Michael Keaton doing the voice.

Howls Moving Castle is my favorite so far, but Porco Rosso is probably 2nd or 3rd, fighting with Princess Mononoke (which I probably need to watch again before I decide)

Yep now that I have all the legal protections I'm feeling a lot more secure and easy going. I don't want to just put him out because we had an agreement on a date for a long time. I just have a sense of integrity there that's important to me outside of how much I hate that he still lives there ugh

You will not regret it. I did the same thing. I even started the movie twice and turned it off YEARS apart. Then I finally watched it from start to finish and it became one of my favorites! I'm jealous you're going to experience what I already did. I wish I could feel it again now! Have fun!

I have been bending over backwards to accommodate him just so that he'd have no reason to not just sign the papers.

He agreed to the lease so the last day he can leave in Dec 31st. If he doesn't sign the lease, I'm going to go to court to file for an eviction at that point.

What rights did he even have?

He was a 50% owner so if he wanted to he could have a filed a motion in court to force a sale and get 50% of the inflated sale value. We purchased for $295k in Jan 2020 and right now the value is almost $500k. I was on edge the whole process seeing if he'd just stay with his word to drop off for free. I was prepared to offer money or get an attorney.

Him having a girlfriend was a double edged sword almost in my mind because one the one side I was ecstatic he was moving on but I was also worried she'd talk in his ear about things he could be doing differently.

Unfortunately, yes. I can't legally remove him without an eviction at this point and he's probably moving sooner rather than later since he's engaged. So the lease agreement makes a legal end date where he has to move out or if he stops paying rent I can evict him asap.

No I paid him $0. He just signed away his rights and I took over the full mortgage.

Wouldn't the person being worshipped have to worry about being left, if said expectations are not fulfilled?

Only if you think they aren't worshipping who you already are. If they're worshipping you as you are why do you need to change or do "better?" Radical acceptance feels good.
