When he started the AVGN in the mid 00s he was essentially the big fish in the small pond of Internet video content creators. His film making skills were top tier for Internet video makers at the time (even though they would be considered basic today).

Nowadays the competition is more fierce AND he is phoning it in for the most part (with a few exceptions such as the Majora's Mask and Commodore 64 episode).

I wouldn't really call it plateauing. After his Earthbound review, the quality of content has taken a huge nosedive for the most part. Most of his new stuff is him just reading a script seemingly written by someone else.

Competitive Ecology in season 3 of Community. There are a lot bad episodes from seasons 4-6, but this is possibly the worst episode from the golden age of the show. The film noir sideplot with Chang is annoying and not really funny. The making fun of Todd thing is kind of funny, but the way it plays out is very mean spirited in comparison to other episodes in the show.
