It's a great shiny. Congrats! I managed to get one in PoGo once.

I think I loved going into a Pokemon game totally unspoiled for once.

Usually I plan the team in advance - it helps minimise tedium and makes the playthrough more efficient and fun. So I know roughly where everything is and what is available. Because actually catching is usually a bit of a chore, especially running around in the grass trying to find a specific Pokemon that has like a 5% chance of appearing.

Here, because it was on the overworld, there was barely any tedium at all. They can never ever go back after this. Please god.

Got it in 4.

Lumineon, Tyranitar, Noctowl, Girafarig

I think Lumineon is one of the best first guesses. Water is a common type, and not being dual type tells you immediately whether it's a dual type Pokmon or not. Not sure about height/weight but it's not a particularly tiny Pokemon either. It's also from a middle generation.

LMAO

I stopped at like 35 or 40 I think. I do all the crafting at the bench and just carry some healing items, the best three types of balls, razz, pinap, and some mud.

I found it weird that there were 94 requests tbh. My hope would be for distortion world DLC! Might be asking a lot though.

Is there a point to collecting all the poems aside from lore?

Don't think so, apart from they maybe become better dig spots afterwards maybe? But I want to see the game all the way through now. Well, pretty much - I'm not doing the research tasks for the entire dex, that's insanity

I released a tonne of Pokmon and got 60 grit rocks. Might actually up a few of my mons to 10s in most stats. The jump from 9 to 10 seems significant.

I guess I should do that. I have so much detritus. It'd be nice to have perfect stats for my team as well as them all being lvl 100.

Anyway I just played this for like 12 hours straight, but I've got the vast majority to level 10 in the dex, almost all requests done, Pokedex complete. I'll do Giratina, Shaymin, Enamorus, Darkrai, Arceus, Unowns, poems and the level 100 grind tomorrow.

Absolutely.

I'm closing in on Dex completion anyway. Got like 6 left to get. Then it's the ending, Unowns, getting my team to level 100 and getting the dex to level 10.

I finished all the side quests besides the last two and that Spiritomb one

Major spoiler for postgame-
I am having a hard time against Volo. I beat Giratina with my last Pokemon but then it changed form and gg. Need to do it all over again. Tried leveling up against some people on the training grounds but it's soo slow

I decided not to grind and instead used my level 85 alpha Garchomp (you can find it in the icelands). Strong style Outrage from him will probably not kill either Giratina but will blow a big enough hole in it. You can also use an aux power and absorb a dragon claw.

My advice would be to exploit his Pokemon that can't hit you too hard and use them to heal. For me that was his Roserade, which could only 3hko Goodra. Heal everything up when you're facing that so you're ready for Giratina.

I also got a shiny in USUM

I was not sure what I wanted my last Pokemon to be, Larvitar or A-Diglett. They spawned in the same place, so I figured whichever one appeared first would be the one I used

First thing to appear: shiny Larvitar. Perfect

But this game has been the complete opposite. Getting one-shotted by lower-level Alpha Pokemon is insanely frustrating, so getting the jump on something and using Calm Mind and Snarl to start things off feels completely game-breaking.

In hindsight I would definitely have used a more defensive lineup.

Final team was:

Samurott, Staraptor, Porygon-Z, Gengar, Hisuian Arcanine, Hisuian Goodra

But for postgame I had to drop Arcanine and Staraptor, and replace them with the lvl 85 Alpha Garchomp I caught and Heatran. They were slightly too low leveled and I needed more power for more spoilers Volo and Giratina

Had I been more defensive I think the Volo fight would have been less of an RPS/Revives/OHKO fest

Holy fuck. The postgame has some amazing shit

First Cresselia screwed with my controls, then the most challenging Pokemon boss fight in years - Volo and then double Giratina immediately afterwards. Great. I loved it. Lost three times and had to really put thought into when to heal, use agile style, etc.

RE8, last week

Pretty good stuff! Some good scares, satisfying action, decent story and some classic RE insane characters

Felt like it was slipping more into RE5 or 6 mode than RE4 at the end, and that's not a compliment. That said, I mostly like the way it mixes RE7 and 4 to create something new.

Thought the factory went on way too long and the castle was the game's peak, a shame since it was so early.

8/10 I guess? Could go higher. I think 7 was better.

I wanna know if this is worth playing for someone who thought he's completely done with Pokemon after the lazy blandfest that was Sword/Shield.

Honestly, it feels so much better. It's slicker and moves so much faster. Not having a battle screen and diving right in, catching two or more Pokemon at once (at low levels anyway), the openness of it - it's been a breath of fresh air so far, though a bit handholdy early on.

Sure - different people look for different things

I wouldn't say that about NWH for instance. Even though it was different in a way, I took it more as like a souped-up Marvel movie.

Eternals wasn't bad at all, I enjoyed it

Some issues (including a bit of ropey acting) but good. Think I prefer it to Shang-Chi (which I liked) for example

I like that it took itself a bit more seriously too. It didn't undercut itself with humour like GotG or Ragnarok, which set it apart
