I don't know if that's the case, but if it is, then it remains to be seen what happens in a fail state. personally I think the implication is that the game seems dangerous but isn't. in reality that's because it's a family movie, but in the movie world, there is a certain implicit understanding that things can seem to be extreme but somehow never actually progress to people being killed, even when children are being attacked by deadly creatures. the game is in control in such a way that it creates exciting and excruciating experiences but nothing that leads to death (otherwise a child lost in a jungle dimension would not actually survive).

(again this is because it's a family movie, not a slasher movie, but the game still derives its nature from its genre. a slasher movie villain is still a killer even though he's only that way to serve the expectations of the genre it's in, and the same holds true for a family movie 'villain' as well.)

I think the game technically has no fail state because new players can join at any time. also the game knows about cheating/gamification* and punishes accordingly.

eggs take a while to go bad, just eat them more often. but otherwise I agree, living alone I almost can't buy anything that expires without it expiring.

check the line of sight. if there's a fridge or microwave in the way (for example) you'll have problems.

if you have antennas (on either side), remember it's the edge of the antenna that transmits, not the end. the direction the antenna points actually has poor reception. the reception is in a cylinder-ish shape circling around the edge.

make sure to use the 5G/better version if you have more than one wifi being broadcast. make sure your wireless on your PC is actually something modern, and not 802.11g or something.

run a cable instead

sort of yeah. russian state media accidentally posted a "victory article" they had prepared thinking that the invasion would be over quickly. they took it down right away but it was preserved.

First two paragraphs using google translate from Russian:
A new world is being born before our eyes. Russia's military operation in Ukraine has ushered in a new era - and in three dimensions at once. And of course, in the fourth, internal Russian. Here begins a new period both in ideology and in the very model of our socio-economic system - but this is worth talking about separately a little later.

Russia is restoring its unity - the tragedy of 1991, this terrible catastrophe in our history, its unnatural dislocation, has been overcome. Yes, at a great cost, yes, through the tragic events of a virtual civil war, because now brothers, separated by belonging to the Russian and Ukrainian armies, are still shooting at each other, but there will be no more Ukraine as anti-Russia. Russia is restoring its historical fullness, gathering the Russian world, the Russian people together - in its entirety of Great Russians, Belarusians and Little Russians. If we had abandoned this, if we had allowed the temporary division to take hold for centuries, then we would not only betray the memory of our ancestors, but would also be cursed by our descendants for allowing the disintegration of the Russian land.

I'm in more or less the same boat. Built something mid-range in 2011, upgraded the GPU to upper-mid in 2015, and I've pretty rarely found myself hardware constrained. I cannot, however, run Elden Ring. I don't come anywhere close to the minimum requirements there

adjl posted...
It might be worth a shot, if I make sure I can refund it, but I've got a stock 2500K in here, which benchmarks way below the minimum, and an R9 280X isn't exactly up to date either, nor are my 8 GB of RAM. It looks like some people have been able to get it running on my GPU with some tweaks, but I don't think the rest will be up to the task.
hmmm

I have i5-2310, GTX 1060 3GB, and 24GB DDR3, and I can run it ok (not perfect, although basically perfect in some places) on low settings. it will run on high settings, but somewhat painfully. I guess your GPU is the main weakness. there are a lot of wide views with tons of stuff in the distance and I can tell that contributes to the slowness (more claustrophobic areas run noticeably smooth in comparison).

(I don't always mind a game running poorly anyway if it's my machine that makes it slow, since I know I can upgrade it later and it'll be awesome. one reason I love PC.)

(the GTX 1060 seems to be one of the best pieces of hardware I've ever gotten. cost only like ~$300 and is the main thing that makes my ~10 year old PC still work.)
