No, I'll still do that. I'll have time for both recommendations and rewatching if I only do two or three write-ups per day.

It's close, but two or three is in the lead. After thinking about it, I prefer that option as well. With five, I was going to start at the end of August so I'd have more time to rewatch stuff and get ahead on write-ups. By doubling the length of the ranking, I can start this weekend!

Thanks again to anyone who voted. I'll start on Friday or Saturday with mini write-ups for the ten dropped anime just to get them out of the way, then do two or three actual write-ups each day forward.

I've already got 100 write-ups done in advance. Rewatching things to more accurately talk about them has been what's slowing me down more than anything. I've had some stuff going on lately and focusing on this has been an excellent distraction

So don't worry about me not keeping the pace, everyone should vote for what they'd prefer to read!

I've kept an up-to-date anime ranking for the whole time I've been watching them, so the ranking was the easiest part

I'm planning to do a topic ranking every anime I've ever seen (10 dropped anime, 260 with at least one season complete, 5 standalone anime movies, 275 total). If this sounds like a massive waste of time, I've been doing most of the work during downtimes at my job. I'm literally getting paid to rank anime! I hope at least a few people will be interested in following along, too.

Anyway, since I don't want it to take a year, my plan was to post five write-ups per day. I'm just worried that might be too much for people to keep up with. I'm trying to limit them to below 300 words each, but that's still potentially 1500 words a day. At the risk of sounding self-deprecating, though, I'm guessing most people will only skim the write-ups for shows they've seen. If people only read one or two out of each five anyway, maybe it won't matter? I don't want to overwhelm and lose any of the few people who might actually follow along with this big dumb anime ranking project. I also don't want to do too few, because then there would be full days of zero comments because I was the only one stupid enough to watch Lord of Vermillion: The Crimson King.

So, is five write-ups per day good or should I only do two or three? This will impact how soon I start, so thank you to anyone who replies or votes in the poll.

Short answer: Pretty soon I plan to watch new seasons in stuff I've seen (ReZERO S2, Dragon Maid S2, Chihayafuru S3, etc) but mostly I'm prioritizing rewatching old stuff for the next few weeks.

Longer explanation: Towards the end of August, I plan to start an anime ranking topic of everything I've seen (should be 275 anime counting airing stuff, ten dropped shows, and five standalone movies). I want at least my favorites to be fresh in my memory. I don't know how much interest there will be in a ranking topic, I post opinions here when I finish things and my MAL scores are publicly available. Still, I think there's a difference between "I like this" and actually seeing it at 35th overall and what it's ranked above/below. Plus I have some stressful stuff going on that'll be resolved one way or another by September. Doing write-ups in advance has been a welcome distraction!

I'm also planning to let people nominate one anime each for me to watch and rank. It'll be fun to see what scores highest since my opinions can be... nonstandard. I've been avoiding new stuff to leave as many options as possible open for that, and if I'm doing that during the topic I won't have time for rewatching too. Thats why I'm focusing on old stuff for now.

I was actually inspired to do this by the anime ranking topic you did a few years ago, Mac! I stumbled across it when I was using the archive website to find my old opinions on certain shows. It'll be nice for me to have these rankings to refer to in the future when my memories become hazy again.

After how angry Heroines Run the Show made me last season, I can't disagree. I have no problem with idol anime that simply ignores the shady side of the industry, though. No crazy fans ever stalk the Love Live girls. (I also wouldn't mind an anime that acknowledged the toxic stuff was toxic, but as we discussed a few weeks ago, no idol anime will do that)

I rewatched Phantom in the Twilight, which wasn't a great idea. I watched it when it was airing and remembered thinking it was decent. I couldn't recall much about it, though, so I figured what the heck, I'd give it another look. It still wasn't bad, it just isn't good either. Ton is an okay protagonist but she never did much. I mostly rewatched this because I remembered she was a strong character in an otherwise meh anime, so that was a disappointment. The real problem, though, was how repetitive it was, especially when watched straight through. Shinyao was kidnapped seven times in twelve episodes, I mean come on.

Their eyes are too far apart imo. I still felt an emotional attachment to Kyou, though!

Clannad's art style does look kind of off, but I think you'd get used to it after a little bit. The problem I had with Clannad was, after doing one of the big routes, I was satisfied and had no desire to see any of the others. I also remember there wasn't an easy way to skip through the stuff I'd already read but maybe I just didn't find it.

I think about watching One Piece sometimes, but I've seen too many memes about how every little thing gets stretched out to fill time so they don't catch up to the manga. I don't know if I could handle that, there were times when even Hunter x Hunter was too slow for me (and it's 10% the length of One Piece). Still, watching the whole thing will be an accomplishment and I wish you luck!

Aw, lame. Hopefully they don't wait until six months after it's over like Netflix used to. I'm glad it doesn't look like Disney got anything significant this season.
