I generally like the first game's OST more also, though there's a few songs from NEO I really like. Most notably the one that plays in the boss fight with (week 2...day 2 I think...Leon has already posted about it) Mr. Mew right when you meet with "Neku"

It also helps that NEO reuses like half of the songs from the original game.

Yeah my main issue with season 2 was Reiner and Bertolt, but I loved Historia and Ymir. In retrospect I'm not sure if my negative feelings about Reiner/Bertolt's character arcs would be properly directed at the characters themselves or at the setting/world in general, but regardless.

Attack on Titan season 3 (finally) beated.

This was definitely an improvement on season 2 and was reasonably solid overall. The last 10 or so episodes in particular were good and quite possibly the best in the series so far. I'm also pretty optimistic about the future direction of the plot (which...unfortunately has not always been the case), mainly because they seem to finally be taking Eren's character in an interesting direction.

For a few reasons, I think it's pretty safe to say I'm not as big on this series as the rest of this topic and the anime community in general, but it's really not worth dwelling on the negatives when the show is still good enough. Also Season 4 definitely has the potential to be quite good and raise my overall opinion considerably.

Best characters are Historia and Erwin, with Armin and Ymir not far behind them but well ahead of the rest of the pack. Eren could easily be added to the list by the end if the last couple episodes have been any indication, but he hasn't earned it yet and could still flop.

Only watched the movies but I'd mostly say I only liked the first one. Don't really remember much of what happened at the end tbh. (meaning I didn't vote, but figured I'd post anyway)

I guess Final Fantasy IV among games that I got far enough to judge. I liked it a fair amount and was near the end, but I reached a difficulty spike right around the time I first moved to college and just never finished as a result.

Also possibly Radiant Historia or Lost Odyssey, by virtue of being well-regarded games which I dropped very early on for dumb reasons.

I don't think anyone who's afraid of nukes is holding that fear with the assumption that Putin is of sound mind and acting logically.

Tentatively interested. Automata was a game where I was mostly interested in the story/setting but stopped having fun with actually playing the game. On the other hand I could easily see the adaptation missing on the story front, but I guess we'll see.

Worth mentioning the Discord quizzes often have Hard sections where half or more of the songs aren't recognized even with 6+ VGM trivia experts(?) listening, which is not ideal for a Youtube setting. Taking songs from the Easy sections might make sense, but yeah. (Though even there...some of the songs are only considered "easy" because the quiz-maker knows that soundtrack is well-known within B8 VGM specifically)

It mostly doesn't interfere with the platforming, but aside from that I have a hard time imagining how it could be worse.

I haven't had time to watch today but I definitely think this is a cool idea!

Attack on Titan season 2 beated.

In some ways this was better than season 1 (better character moments), but it was also worse in some ways. Unfortunately, the ways in which it was worse outweigh the other aspects and also make me very pessimistic for the series as a whole.

The short version is that this is still a problem that has gotten worse, and I feel like by now the story has tied itself in too many knots that it's going to be impossible to unravel without some critical piece of the story falling apart.

I will say nothing about the story is irreparably damaged yet. If I'm wrong and the story pulls some serious magic with its twists so that everything makes sense then it could still be great. I just don't see how that's possible, but for now I'll remain hopeful.

I'm in this post and I don't like it.

My read on quantum computing is that those corporations are trying to fill jobs in basically every area of STEM that is even slightly relevant. I suspect that applies to most physicists except maybe like biophysics or something.

Note I don't have firsthand experience talking to companies or anything--this is just what all the professors at my university seem to be saying.

I thought this one was a lot more player-friendly than Xenoblade, though that might be just that the size of Xenoblade made it feel like more of a chore in that game where I basically just ignored the system entirely.

I wasn't a big fan of the start of this season, but it did get a lot better as it went on. The Survey Corps is awesome and I really hope these guys actually stick around. Mainly Erwin, but the organization as a whole is also just pretty cool in action.

That said, I still don't think the series has addressed the biggest thing holding it back, which is how much it loves to play coy with what's actually happening and why. It's obvious that they're building towards some complicated story with a bunch of different factions, motivations, and goals at play, but they still insist on framing it as just "humanity vs monsters" while keeping the real story behind some thin veil of mystery. It's supposed to maintain tension, but it just ends up weakening the story overall. I'll probably enjoy this a ton once this changes--which I'm sure it will eventually--but I can't say I'm too appreciative of how they're setting the stage.

Overall still a pretty good show though. I realize this sounds mostly negative but if I actually didn't like it I'd just say it sucked (or not say anything at all) and move on. I tend to complain a lot more about good shows that I feel are being held back than I do about stuff that is just bad.

I've figured out the secret.

I've been mentally approaching Attack on Titan like a grimdark fantasy (not my preferred genre), when in reality it's (spoilers) a mecha anime in disguise.

At the time S1 was huge yes. I feel like general consensus on it has cooled a bit, but I think this is a case where that says more about how big it was at the time than anything. I still have the sense that it's pretty well regarded in general.

It's regard has also stood the test of time much better than the similarly huge Sword Art Online from that period.

I do know that (spoilers for somewhere in season 1 later on) humans can become titans through some method and that this happens to one or two particular characters at some point (probably more than this, but there are 2 I know for sure). Also that there are specific titans that are special for some reason. Not that either of those things would have been hard to guess ahead of time anyways I suppose, but avoiding all spoilers for this series was inevitable.

So I started watching Attack on Titan finally. (the first season, that is.)

I don't have much to say so far, but I feel like this is going to be one of those shows where it's well-made but the writing philosophy doesn't mesh with me at all.

I mean I've only rated four anime ever at a 2/10 or below and that's one of them. I don't know anything about the manga and obviously have no intention of ever giving it the time of day.

Gankutsuou was fantastic. I also really liked Welcome to the NHK.

Overall I was never a fan of Gonzo though tbh. Maybe at first it was unearned, but my view of them has been tarnished ever since watching Full Metal Panic.

...and actually even in the 2000's it looks like they were responsible for Saikano and Bokurano which are 2 of my least favorite anime of all time, so no I'm just going to go with them always being awful. (Though I watched those much more recently)
