You might think so, but it worked just fine for me without knowing the cartoons. Did it feel even more pivotal for you who did know the backstory? Maybe. But you said devoid of context or importance, that's not true. It felt very important, and they explained as much of the context as they needed to for it to all make sense
Considering you're suggesting throwing out a solid decade of widely-loved backstory and character arcs just to satisfy your craving for a fun fight scene, you'll forgive me for taking your idea of a satisfying level of context with a grain of salt.

I'll just throw out there that your "disregard the cartoon" idea wouldn't even work in-universe, because even now the live action material is dependent on the cartoon.

Ahsoka is a major player in the current canon. Her very presence in the modern series, including her upcoming solo series, is entirely dependent on the events in several of the cartoons. So is Thrawn, who is dependent on both the cartoons and several books worth of canon.

Maul plays an absolutely integral part of Ahsoka's backstory, particularly in regards to the closing events of Clone Wars.

Same goes for Bo Katan Kryze. The Viszla clan. Death Watch. The darksaber. All ENORMOUS factors and players in The Mandalorian, and which exist completely devoid of any context or importance without the cartoon canon.

Bad Batch is dropping hints that it's tied heavily into key aspects of episodes 7-9, and by proxy, the Mandalorian/Grogu.

Everything fits together. It doesn't matter whether the comics are playing fast/loose or not. The shows and movies are NOT.

By just displacing Maul's story, youre not suggesting to throw the cartoons out. You're basically saying to selectively choose bits and pieces of the cartoon to either keep or change, based on what would be "cool to see." Which is going to devolve into a confusing mess extremely quickly.

That's nice. But it doesn't mean something should be locked out of being done in live action. A bad habit the current canon has had is discounting several things the "canon" Disney comics do. By and large it seems the filmmakers and showrunners, animated or live, seem to just not read or care about the canon comics that Disney puts out. And I don't think they should have to be beholden to every single detail those comic writers put in. I don't mind it.

Where there's great storytelling potential, sure. The different animated series have proven there's a lot of potential for the character beyond what we received in Phantom Menace.

I just don't care too much about it. I'm glad people enjoy it. It's just not for me though. I only really talk about it in context of people saying something shouldn't be in live action because it was already in animation.

How would me getting the live action content I want invalidate the animated content you've already received?
Because that animated content literally establishes that Maul had no idea where obi wan was, prior to the animation, didnt even know he even survived order 66 prior to Dathomir, and then even kills off the character.

Literally the ONLY way to give you what you want is to write the animation out of the canon. This isnt some "Palpatine actually survived" situation; the story you're asking for would straight up break the story that was already told, by making it impossible. Hence, "invalidate" it.

For better or worse, Disney is trying really, really hard to keep 9ts new canon constant.

They aren't going to start altering their established continuity just because some people think they're too big-boy for the cartoons, and want a different story instead.

By pretty categorically and unsympathetically rewriting Joel to have been objectively wrong throughout TLoU. Something that the first game went to great lengths to avoid doing. And something it did quite successfully, considering how many people have begun parroting it since the game's launch.

It's retroactively stripped away the moral complexity that gave that conclusion so much punch. Hell, the first game went so far as to pretty un-subtly show that Ellie had a pretty good idea of what happened at the end of the game, and was choosing to reluctantly ignore it, only for the second game to have her SHOCKED and APPALLED that he could have POSSIBLY have done something like that.

The main issue is that while TLOU was morally complex, TLOU2 is insultingly simple, while trying to pretend to be more complex than it is.

TLOU deals with humanity, parenthood, attachment. The ending dilemma isn't whether to sacrifice Ellie, but whether to GAMBLE Ellie. After all, there is NO reliable confirmation their cure would have actually worked. And all of this done without the consent of the victim, an innocent girl. It's not just a question of utilitarianism vs moralism, like so many like to pretend. It's about whether preserving our humanity is about fixing the external problem, and saving our society, or protecting the things we cherish the most; the things that differentiate us from the animals. It's about whether our pursuit of either end inherrently invalidates itself. It's about what it means to be the "last of us," and whether or not we WILL be the "last of us" as a result. And the game doesn't insult us by giving us a clear cut answer to the question; everybody and nobody was right.

TLOU2, in contrast, is frighteningly simple. "Revenge is bad, unless you're Joel cause then you deserved it." Its narratively both a downgrade from the prior entry, while simultaneously dragging down what the first entry was trying so hard to present. And retroactively poisoning the prequel is about the worst thing a sequel can do (and something a lot of sequels have been doing for the last 10 years or so).

You're neither. You'd be much more likely to fail the polygraph; which is a MUCH more stupid test, because you can fail a polygraph for thousands of reasons, including but not limited to just being anxious about the test.

Again, Rainbow Badge is the odd one out, as you get it in Celadon City (celadon is a pale green/yellow ceramic glaze)
Plus, it would have made much more sense for Erika to be handing out the Green Badge, by virtue of being a grass gym (hell, the badge is shaped like a leaf), whole Giovani gives the Rainbow badge which, by being multicolor, is sort of your "certificate of completion."

But that's just me. Or maybe another coding error. Considering Gen 1 is held together with chewing gum and a dream.

I mean, you're not wrong, but that doesnt exactly explain why the English names are what they are.

It's not like "souls" are inherrently pink, or anything. And Marshes definitely arent gold. They could have easily given Sabrina the Soulbadge, and Koga... I dunno, the Poisonbadge, if they wanted to keep it in line with the "pink" bit.

Not heard many people mention it as major issue like they do DA2 and its one of peoples biggest reasons for hating on DA2.
The main problem is ME1 had a great narrative and interesting mechanics (save the mako, which gets rightfully roasted) to compensate for its same-y level design, environment structure, and reused areas. It also helps that the re-used areas are most prominent in completely-optional, skippable, side areas.

DA2 has none of those advantages.

Sure they would.

This wouldn't be the first time a Soulsborne game gave misleading information on a mechanical level. And it's been fixed, before, and nobody cared.
