The Natives aren't traitors they weren't American citizens to start with, pretty lame effort at false equivalency if you ask me.

You have to look at when a lot of these statues were put up, who lobbied for them and which groups paid for them. You see a lot of pro-segregation, anti-civil rights groups, christian identity groups and white supremacists behind them, political power using white supremacy to push against desegregation and shared class interest and pushing a racial divide. They are a glorification of slavery and icon of intimidation and threat to black and mixed communities in the south. They aren't about the civil war or history, they are about dickhead racists making a statement of oppression.

5 people injured and nothing about knives or guns.

Fuck man are we just going to up and shit ourselves every-time a van kerbs the pavement now, I was in Glasgow a few years back when a bin lorry ploughed into traffic killing a load of folk, everyone saw a horrific crash and ran to help. If that happened today I imagine there would be a lot more people running the other way.

What has the UK averaged recently? A major terrorist attack every 2-3 weeks or so?

7/7 bombings in 2005, a murder in 2013, a knife attack in 2015, Manchester 2 weeks ago and now this.

We've had 2 attacks in 2 weeks but that's massively out of the ordinary.

Basic human right, no. Nice thing to have in a civilised modern society, yes.

America has some forms of socialised medicine already, there are systems of "socialism laundering" all over the U.S. healthcare system with the state paying massive chunks of the bill through taxation at the back door out of sight. It's ludicrously expensive mind you with the American state paying more for healthcare per capita than the UK does on the NHS, with citizens paying out the same amount again on top of that for private provision.

You already spend more on healthcare at a state level than most developed countries do to get universal coverage, you should already have universal healthcare, you fucking pay enough for it.

To be fair historians tend to blame the U.K. first and foremost for the state of the middle east today, yes America has been a big agitator since gulf war mk1 and the region has been influenced heavily by American power but the bulk of the damage, the badly drawn random lines on maps that divide tribes and families and cultures were ours, we drew those shitty divisions in the sand when we rolled back our empire and made the worst job of managing the area.

I question the value of protected classes and categorising abuse, I'd love a system where breach of the peace, abuse or threatening behaviour are the keys and not any racial component. I'm conflicted about it, I'm anti-censorship in general and I think that prosecuting as "hate" crimes creates a situation that drives racism underground. I for example would rather my old granddad was spouting racist rubbish openly in public where I can confront, contradict and inform him otherwise rather than sitting on facebook posting racism with other racists that will confirm his prejudices and allow him to keep them secret.

I'm not in a minority and I obviously have a limited understanding of the negative effects of hate crimes directly on people like yourself. I'd appreciate your input and help in understanding more fully.

I'm from Scotland and much like Canada we are seen as the tolerant northern alternative.

However, I think this is bullshit, I think Scotland is ridiculously racist, the difference is we haven't suffered mass immigration to the extent that the England has. The majority of our immigration has been white Europeans and that hasn't caused major demographic issues, if that same immigration had been African, Asian or Middle Eastern I don't think we would have coped in the same way.

We have a small number of racial incidents per capita compared to England, but we have a far lower concentration of immigrants when you look at the number of incidents per immigrant the number in Scotland skyrockets and by that statistic we are equally if not more racist than people down south.

I had never heard of him till a week or so ago, Last podcast on the left had a show about benoit and what happened to him, it's presumed that brain damage and drug abuse were major contributing factors. It's a really sad story to be honest. There's too many people saying he was "evil" and should burn in hell or whatever, I think it's far more likely he was sick and needed help.
