TopicChristianity or Science - what moves society forward and makes it better?

They're not really comparable, like Christian countries have generally moved forward pretty well, maybe a little resistant to change, but hard to say if that wouldn't have been the case with or without any other religion.

'Science', as an entity, definitely benefits lots of people and definitely isn't resistant to change, although sometimes that goes too far and you get nuclear bombs and internet comment sections.

None of us would probably exist without both of them though.

It is considered murder by like half of people, just not so much by the other half. But it's one of those classic big issue problems that's become so polarised that everyone's on either the pro-life side or the pro-choice side, not realising that both of these are wrong, and leaving very few people left to work out a better solution.

This is also bullshit. We know the solution.

We've seen it in Africa and several other states/countries

The solution is as few unwanted pregnancies as possible via promotion of contraception, sex education and easy access to abortion.

Net result is always very few abortions which are done safely. Which is the net best goal for pro-life and pro-choicers.

The problem is people get caught up in emotion and atively work against the methods which achieve that goal.

Close but not far enough. Obviously as few abortions as possible is the aim and in the US at least abortion is at the lowest it's been since before it became popular, but there's still nearly 20% of pregnancies being aborted which is a lot.
More medical and societal progress with this in mind would be required to cut down further on the reasons people seek abortions in the first place. Until then everyone's still picking sides.

Taxation is just legalized theft. People can spend their money on things they want much better than government. Not sure why it's taking so long for people to understand this, but I will continue to have faith that humanity will some day get this right, and keep fighting the good fight.

But no one would have their money because it would all get stolen because there's no police because no one paid their taxes.

I wasn't too sure at first, with the different development team and it being a prequel, only being 3 episodes, no Max, and also not too sure about seeing Rachel. She was quite intriguing in the way we didn't get to see her or find out if she could also time-travel.

But quite excited for it now, knowing that there's an actual sequel being made at the same time, this seems more like a bonus. I'm sure I'll enjoy it even if it's not quite on the same level as the first season.

It's a good idea when paired with increasing automation, and it'll probably become necessary because of it. There are already more people than available jobs, so unless there's a future legal limit on working hours, half the world will be rich and the other half will starve.

Automation has the potential to be great if implemented properly but, judging by the world's current governments, it's going to be a catastrophe.

The number of previous sexual partners has never mattered to me. I only care about STDs.

Before I had sex with anyone, I want to see your clean record. I'd prefer to NOT get throat cancer from HPV.

You really looking at health records before sex? Come on son.

You get a little sheet after you have your tests. Only 1 time did I actually want to see the physical record because she had lied to me a lot in the past, but it turned out she was clean.

So, yeah. I want to know if you have an STD or not. There isn't a lot of ways to protect yourself from STDs with lesbian sex.

What if they had a record from December 2016. A lot of shit can happen in 6 months. I understand where you are coming from Ash but damn.

For most people, I will take their word. If they had unprotected sex within those 6 months, I would want to know.

But I'm not fucking around with STDs. Literally, can give you cancer.

It's extra tricky too when people can have them but not know about it, and also how few people are aware that condoms don't really offer much protection against the common ones and assume they're all clear.

The left is all about individual rights at the cost of everyone else's, makes sense they'd want as many individual, even fractionally different identities to apply to everyone as they could invent or imagine. The right are all about everyone else's rights at the cost of the individual's, makes sense they'd want as few, very different boxes to fit everybody in as they can.

Was Jesus actually in any non-secular historical texts?

There are a few mentions of Jesus stuff from around the time, probably most reliably from Tacitus and Josephus. But the new testament was basically a compilation of everything they could find at the time.
