How prevalent are schools that teach eskrima?

In Manila? Plenty.

In other parts of the Philippines? Basically none.

However, perhaps there are local places which teach the local children as tradition. No schools or gyms dedicated to it AFAIK.

Where is that? All of our local Yema cakes our local bakeries produces are pretty much clones to each other. =(

Vancouver! It's a place called Aling Mary's. Their pandesal is amazing ($4 for a dozen, we buy 2 a week), and they're the only place I know that imports a specific brand of mee goreng I like.

I am still here in the Philippines and all bakeries I have seen only makes the basic yema cake recipe. =(

have you contacted our dear senators about the lower house approving only a P1,000 budget for the commission on human rights, demanding they fight that decision?

Actually I haven't. However, I did try to contact our representative regarding their vote on the CHR budget. (I haven't seen in any news article their actual vote.) Still haven't found a correct contact number to their office. Going to their webpages and Facebook pages feels pointless as well. =(

Any Boxing, really. Amateur/Pro/whatever.

I'm not much of a boxing fan. However I have watch local ones, the gym VS gym ones. They are fast matches, could be slog of inefficient fighting or matches that only last a few seconds because that first punch gave the other guy a concussion.

Lack of good equipment means most matches do not have safety gear, this makes the fights potentially dangerous.

The real amateur boxing that happens in town fiesta are amusing though. It's either like DBZ or a Charlie Chaplin skit if I would compare. =P

Why does the Phillippines suck?

(I'll treat this seriously)

Hmm.... If I would do a theory....... Perhaps Stockholm Syndrome?

IMO The Philippines did not really have a real identity. It was first conquered by the Spaniards in the 1500's. Then sold to the United States in the late 1800's. Then was conquered by the Japanese in the 1940's, then finally given "freedom" a few years after World War 2. There's also the trade between Chinese and the Filipinos since the early times.

This probably made the Filipinos subvervient to other countries hundreds of years. While also getting the best and worst of all the countries that influenced the Filipino people. Corruption, nepotism, slavery, violence. The works.

Even their actual lineage might just be a mix, it was theorized that in it's earliest days, it's indigenous people mixed in with Indonesians and Malaysians.

What's the average sentiment on ASEAN and Indonesia in particular?
How hard is Tagalog?

Tagalog is one of the easier languages to learn due to the "Abakada method"
once you learn that, it's now just a process of memorizing words since you can mostly pronounce most Tagalog words already. What you read is what you speak and write.

https://www.tagaloglang.com/abakada-tagalog-alphabet/

EDIT : I forgot about ASEAN.

The average Filipino do not care about ASEAN. They often see it as a showboating of the current Philippine president to show off how progressive the Philippines it, by covering up the squatters in the capital city by hauling them to far resorts.

As for Indonesia, to put up a joke, they're like a relative they didn't know they had. Absolutely neutral. Generally Indonesia and the Philippines do not interact much with each other. Well, there was that one time when Filipino insurgents ran away to Indonesia and there was tension between the two countries trying to flush them out.

This is because the culture and tradition of the island of Mindanao and Indonesia are quite similar to each other I think. My knowledge of this is very limited sadly.

Is basketball the most popular sport there? Almost every Filipino guy I have met plays basketball at least casually. If not, what is the most popular sport?

Yes, basketball is the most popular sport in the Philippines, nothing even comes close.

This is primarily due to it having the first organized league as well as the playing court being easy to setup, even on highly impoverished areas.

I mean the country's name seem alike a plural, like the United States. You can have one state, can you have one Philippine?

Here's the nearest answer I can find through Google Search :
http://www.pilipino-express.com/history-a-culture/in-other-words/127-the-basics-of-philippino-filipino.html

The Philippines was named with an "s" because the Spanish name "Las Islas Filipinas" when translated into English, is “the Philippine Islands,” spelled with Ph to match the spelling of Philip. Sometime shortly after World War II, the “Islands” part of the name was dropped, so now we just call it the Philippines.

What do people really think of Deurte? Is support for him seen as a completely normal, reasonable thing even by people who didn't vote for him, or is he thought of as a crazy person, or what?

It really depends on who you ask actually. The reasoning is that the government is pretty much considered corrupt and our police force cannot protect them. And they wanted an easy way out. Is that selfish? Yes IMO. Is it reasonable? In their perspective, probably yes, illegal drugs has been severely demonized in the Philippines to the point Duterte was able to market it as the key to prosperity in the Philippines. And made sure his Social Media influencers kept saying that. And his detractors considered Drug Lord sympathizers.

I guess in an anime sense..... It's kinda like Death Note. The people who really liked Light and wished he had won it all. Because hey, he killed most of criminals! There's nothing wrong with that!

For me.... I'm in the L side, I do not believe in the "ends justify the means" mantra. And unlike Kira, we cannot know what Duterte's goals and endgame is. I prefer to judge the actions rather than the person. And generally it's agreed that murder is wrong no matter how justified it is.

Best place to get balut, and best way to eat it.

Your local balut vendor will never fail you.

For me I prefer the one with no chick yet, the more yellow stuff for me, the better. I don't like the ones with an actual chick in there. Yes I'm a coward. =(

Yes, in most surveys, it is generally known that Filipinos do not the like the government of China. This is primarily due to the island grabbing of China in the South China sea.

However, the Filipino - Chinese community in the Philippines is actually very amicable with the Filipinos.

And most second to third generation Chinese Filipino's basically consider themselves Filipinos, which kinda angers the first and second generation Chinese when they get a pure Filipino/Filipina significant other.
