The Supreme Court has ruled that the acceptance of a pardon is a de facto admission of guilt, so pardoning people in a position to be impeached might prove problematic.

I may or may not be getting this info from an alternate history scenario where Spiro Agnew becomes President and pardons himself, but I'm pretty sure the author knew what they talking about in this case.

Edit: I should clarify that upon further review, the Supreme Court did not directly rule on the concept I mentioned; the ruling was technically on another issue, and there's still debate as to whether or not the Supreme Court's statements on this issue are legally binding.

I generally enjoyed the movie, and it has two exciting set pieces, but the ending (and the movie in general, ultimately) was too mean-spirited for me.

So the message of the movie is to not have faith in or trust anyone? And to smirk at the main character being tricked at the end? Well, f*** you too, movie!

I know people complained about people being too stupid in Prometheus, which is true, but I personally find it more frustrating when people do try to follow protocol (in terms of quarantine at least) and act (relatively) intelligently, but still get killed.

Oh nevermind, ~53% against Samus must have become translated into 50.3% in my mind over the years.

FF7's problem is I don't think it's ever won a close match (within 51/49) in contest history. In 15 years of contests. Maybe I'm forgetting something but I can't remember one victory.

Cloud/Samus in 2010 if 12 hour matches count.

Earthbound is really bad with the European vote too, IIRC. It completely collapsed in 2009 if memory serves.

I've never really doubted Allen's claims that the individual page hits are up, so I think there is potential for votals to grow again. The problem is that these people coming from Google and the like are going directly to the FAQS. The only reason for gamefaqs.com to be the first stop in your site navigation is if you feel you are part of the "community" so to speak, and the main page is your home. At this point, this has completely withered up.

I know that there are a lot of structural Internet-wide reasons why this has happened, but I still think it could be partly reversed if the board archiving was modified. Yes, archiving the boards stopped a great deal of repetitive topics/messages on them, but those short conversations on the game boards were the feeders into the greater GameFAQS community. If you can search for all the Aeris/Tifa topics on the FFVII board and read what people have been saying for the past 10 years, you are less likely to create an account and join the community in order to provide a viewpoint of your own, especially if you can't post in any of these topics. Now that's not to say that things have to go back to the way they were pre-2008, but I think some kind of hybrid system (maybe topics over a certain number of posts don't purge, but don't archive either, and stay open indefinitely) would be helpful.

You guys are falling for a classic Rhetorical Sociopath trap. They mimic someone that believes/uses logic and reason in an attempt to trick others, but like a normal sociopath, it's best to not even engage.

I haven't been around, so sorry if this has been answered, or was in the vote-ins, but are console releases gonna be mentioned in the pics/matches at all? My picks were kind of banking on that. Woops.

Keeping my fingers crossed for my 85 > 87 upset still. If there's an "intangible year factor" for any entrant it's gonna be '85. I'm probably overestimating how many voters imbue it with any kind of meaning though. Oh well.
