Anyway, the mockery comes from the plantation days, where chicken was considered a good meal for the workers, and then even into the 1920s it got picked up worse as a stereotype because they did legit like fried chicken because they featured chicken in their fried recipes, then some publications made certain ad campaigns with a dark skinned character as liking fried chicken, and it stuck as a stereotype.

Phone is a good way. In person face to face is a better way.

Don't approach her as it being a date, approach her as asking her if you would like to do something together.

If she says no, just brush it off gently and say "Oh ok, sure." or "All right, I wanted to ask you personally anyway."

You can go the simple approach of asking her if she has anything to do this weekend, or on a certain day, or even during your or her lunch hour, which is actually a convenient time compared to the other two options and is a nice way to go from there.

Like this, for example:

Tim: Hey, Angela? Where do you usually eat for lunch?
Angela: Oh, at this place by 54th street, it's an Italian place
Tim: Oh, you mean Sal's?
Angela: Yeah, aha, that's the one
Tim: I usually go there too, it's a nice place, I was actually hoping you knew about it, and I was thinking if you would like to go eat there together tomorrow or maybe some time next week for lunch?

Then based on her response, go from there.

Thank you, but I don't see what's so inspiring about merely admitting my life is shit. Inspirational would actually be turning it around.

Cause others pretend things are going well, despite the crushing feelings they have on the inside.

People need to be shown that it's better to admit the reality of your circumstances rather than pretending to be something you're not.

There are even some Hollywood celebrity interviews done by Oprah, when they admitted that they projected to the world that they were happy and content with their life, when they were really full of turmoil on the inside, but didn't want to share it with the world.
