AMD's newest processors are a lot more competitive now against Intel but their GPUs aren't as competitive against Nvidia currently.

ATI probably would still be more competitive with Nvidia and might even beat Nvid's cards for cheaper prices like they did a few times before.

If AMD wouldn't have bought ATI then maybe the ATI cards wouldn't run really hot & draw so much power like how their cards were in the past.

For awhile now their cards have been hotter & need higher voltage PSUs than Nvidia's cards. So if they can fix this then they would be a lot better.
