A quick google search says that's what your employer pays for your health insurance, which I guess would make sense.

The company I work for does have to pick an insurance plan for each contract

Is that the same amount for the "employer deduction" per your YTD pay stub for December 2016?

The trial is to decide if the reason is legitimate or not. You don't need a legitimate reason just to file suit. If it's legitimate, you're awarded damages based on the lawsuit. Otherwise it's thrown out.

That's why these things are called claims. "Apple claims so and so is infringing on their trademark." even if they actually aren't. They put up weak arguments and try to bully smaller competition into folding or bankrupt them trying to defend against the obvious bullshit lawsuit.

http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/mp3s/apples-future-wont-be-brought-to-you-by-the-letter-i-20100312-q27r.html

look, I know you're knew to this whole real world thing, but this is how a legally regulated economy works. companies beat their competition in court instead of the free market.

So it's case was the company was being deceptive using the reverse spelling of its own product. So there is their reason for suing. At the heart of the present opposition is the claimed similarity of the Trade Mark to marks containing or consisting of the element IPOD which had been used and/or registered by the Opponent in Australia as at the Priority Date.

Um my point was you need a legitimate reason to sue in court. Google has a product called Gmail and challenged the trademark for this was for a mail service or for a logo. That is a legitimate reason and the point of my post so idk where you getting this "I'm an expert of the economy, kid" stuff from. You're just finding articles and posting them over and over when all I said was you need a reason to sue someone.

the legal fees themselves killed the company. lawyers aren't cheap.

If the company was gonna become profitable after the ruling I don't see how they couldn't get funding from outside investors.

Apple got sued from a trademark holder in China. Apple settled out of court. Apple also has the iPad product registered in other countries. What am I missing?

I mean Google has Gmail in other countries, it wants to use the name in a country for its mail service while someone owns the name already. I mean this is basically the point of trademarks. The German courts ruled he trademarked it for his mail service and not the logo as Google argued. If it was trademarked for the logo Google would likely be able to use it in that country.

So again Google isn't suing for nothing it's suing to use the name of its product in a country where the name is trademarked.

Good find of an exception to my statement.

This is not "an exception" it's a commonly used tactic by Monsanto, Apple, and Oracle.

From what I read Sony received a temporary injunction so it sounds like they had a case to initially sue them. So I don't see how they just sued them "for anything" when there was an initial injunction after suing...

Also can you show me cases from those companies where they don't have basis to sue but are allowed to do so?

Merit to claim is decided in court, not in the filing itself.

If you go to court over something that you obviously have no claim for, you'll lose a lot faster. Like, if I sue Microsoft because they're infringing on my ".NET trademark" it will go to court if only for a few minutes because the judge needs to open the book and close it. That's due process for you. I would be on the hook for countersuits, however.

But here are some other examples:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proview_International_Holdings_Ltd
(Apple eventually negotiated to buy the rights from them)

http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/PCWorld/story?id=3351577 (this one involves google)

Um so basically Sony sued, Bloom won the appeal, Sony also had other restraining orders denied (ie anything you want to sue for doesn't work) and then Bloom went bankrupt because they basically weren't generating enough revenues after winning.

And the Apple case proves... What? A company had a trademark in China and sued Apple who then settled it out of court?

And then Google lost in Germany because someone had a legit trademark for Gmail. So how does that prove what you said in #5? I don't see the issue of Google having Gmail and trying to use it around the world and running into people with trademarks for it and going to court to see if they can use it for their product.

American businesses works like this.

1. Have a good idea or product
2. Offer it better than the next guy
3. Beat your competition and gain market share
4. Disregard all quality and focus only on what is most profitable
5. Use money to buy influence to squash competition and labor.
6. Say buzzwords like "capitalism" and "america" while having the government subsidize your Shit wages with social welfare and providing you with tax advantages to keep your position.

Ultra Level: Become so big the Supreme Court says your corporation is a person and the government will give you money to prevent you going out of business.

The ultimate goal of business in capitalism is to eliminate all competition and exploit workers to slavery.

The problem is when CEOs start whining that they need corporate bailouts or that they're being forced to fire people and shut down projects when in reality they could just pay themselves less money. It's all nonsense.

Corporate bailouts aren't things that happen outside of an economic crisis. If they want a "bailout" that usually means they are filing for bankruptcy and aren't going to be bailed out by the government. And firing people or ending projects can be due to changes in the economy, their industry, and the outlook of the project. Cutting executives salaries wouldn't help if a project will be unprofitable or if demand for goods declines. If they cannot shift the strategy due to this then they will eventually be fired as returns drop for shareholders due to wasting resources on failed projects and not moving to address shifts in the industry.

Yea. I have no problems with vacations. I feel he's taken too many weekends off personally but a vacation like this is fine. My issue is how he constantly said "no vacations. I'll never leave. Work work work" and constantly criticized Obama for it....and here he is always leaving, and already on track to do so at a much much higher rate than Obama...you don't think that's a fair criticism?

That's fine but people seemed to have a problem with me saying both sides criticize vacations of the other sides presidents no matter what as if the left wasn't critical of Bush taking vacations and the right about Obama. Exhibit A of the left having a meltdown about Trump golfing.

I don't remember any meltdowns over Bush golfing. Really, I don't remember any complaining about the president playing golf until Obama, and by far the loudest was Trump. I mean he wouldn't shut up about it.

That is what makes us mad. To go on and on about Obama doing it, then to do it even more. It's not the golf, it's the the hypocrisy.

All I'm saying is both sides bitch about the president going on "vacation" when it's not their party in office. Not sure why you guys are so defensive about this.
