That's what I mean, That's too simplistic. But to be fair, stealing gives you a minuscule amount of bad karma compared to murder.

Except it adds up a ton if you steal a lot of stuff.

At least they got rid of the moronic karma system this time.

Karma didn't necessarily need to be omitted. Just reworked.

If you're going to put a morality system in, at least utilize it properly.

"You're an evil dude because you stole that item nobody saw you steal". It was awful.

I like the style and humor of Fallout more, but I kinda wish they incorporated Elder Scrolls style of experience-based skill building. I'd much rather build up my small guns skill by shooting than by dropping points when I level up.

But I'd definitely take the classic Fallout skill mechanics over the dumbed down nonsense we got in Fallout 4.

They kinda do that with non combat abilities if I remember right. It would be awesome if they combined features from both games and put them into their next games.

It makes sense that TESIV is winning. Most of the games people would want sequels for only just got games in the last year. Hard to want a Pokemon Gen 8 when SuMo came out last year or FFXVI when FFXV only came out just this past winter.

I think most people would like it to take place in Argonia at this point. Isn't that the only major land not featured yet?

Actually, they can. Most stores have policies against it, but legally an employee can stop a shoplifter. There's no special law that designates loss prevention (which, by the way, is a separate function with no real presence at most retailers; a rep from the department might show up a few times a year) or security (which most retailers don't have anyway) as being the only people who can detain suspected thieves.

Detain, not stop. Those are two completely different words with two completely different meanings.

Except not in this context. Detaining and stopping have the same function and effect in this example. Further, if you're going to make a claim that it's unlawful for them to do so despite a legal blog already okaying it, I would expect you to at least present a source.

Detaining means holding a person such as taking them to a back room until cops get there.

If you take an object and put it in your pocket (or purse), you can be arrested in a store. You don't need to physically leave the store. Same would go for homes.
No you can't, actually. You have to wait until that person walks out the door before you can arrest him.

that's not how it works at all.

brianna at mcdonalds would get a minimum living wage to afford basic house, food and necessities. you would work your own job to get income above the minimum living wage to afford the nicer things you'd like to do and own. and that would be in addition to your minimum living wage.

so it's basically just raising $7.25 to something more reasonable?

no its, everyone gets 1000* dollars a month plus what they make at their job

*example

For pretty obvious reasons, the system couldn't really work that way. If it was solely in addition to what people made then the government would have no tax revenue to support the system. Plus, under quite a few explanations, there hasn't been a work requirement.

UBI isn't being suggested for shits and giggles. It's being brought up because robots will eventually take all our jobs and if nobody has any money we can't buy things which will crash the economy.

As humorous as it is to see you bringing luddism to the 21st century, major disruptions to labor lead to labor shifts. Back when industrialization was rendering people obsolete, nobody could have predicted the jobs that later followed yet somehow employment picked up. Sitting in your armchair today, you can't predict tomorrow's jobs either. More importantly, all of this overlooks that countless jobs that were done in the US are now being done overseas and not by robots, but by people.

ALL I'm trying to say is that we HAVE the technology to finally automate everything for us. All we would have to apply knowledge to is expanding the medical field, machinery, builders, gatherers, overseers, and miscellaneous other repairs as needed. Theoretically everything could be made to work at little to no cost. People would have all the free time imaginable.

It's the dumbfucks who take more out of the pot than they put in who cause instability. This ranges anywhere from criminals to religious cults that desire to harm people. We then have to waste resources to prevent that. We will NEVER have the Utopia that humanity is capable of. Someone will always ruin it. But in theory we could totally do it.

As a result of our dysfunctional society, people hoard their resources. We invest in security, home defense, choose to go on vacation... money isn't really evil, it's a means of exchanging a tangible service, so money can be seen as a resource in that regard. With all this money being wasted, resources are wasted. People could have benefited from it. But someone else obtained it and spent it. Can point fingers all day here. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction-- that's physics, but it holds truth to an extent in economy as well. It's why some people are really happy and why some people are really miserable.

If EVERYBODY contributed, socialism would be a beautiful thing. It's the society that we live in that makes it impossible to fully implement. Extreme capitalism is more or less the same thing on the opposite side of the spectrum-- people who hog the money (resources) make it difficult for people who are willing to put forth their own effort to get a piece of the pie.

The world will never be completely fair. All these resource hogging robots are going to cause an unforeseen ripple effect on life itself. Best thing you can do for yourself is to get smarter than your neighbor and watch some doomsday prepping tv shows. We're headed for a MASSIVE collapse.

Oh the Irony of your posts. By your logic concerts and vacations don't contribute to any economy.

It literally doesn't matter if there are animal products that don't require animal slaughter to obtain. I made no comment on the necessity of becoming vegan or vegetarian as an implied consequence of this topic. I was simply pointing out that your use of 'slaughter' as a defense of your position was erroneous according to your own source, and the only way you can even construe my post as a straw man is because you already moved the goalposts from 'slaughter means killing the animal for meat' to 'well, you won't slaughter chickens for their eggs.' QED.

Or are you trying to imply that the chickens used for egg farming don't get slaughtered later on for meat? While you are correct that you don't necessarily HAVE to kill the chickens, the entire part of this discussion arouse because PO brought up that animals are treated inhumanely prior to slaughter as well. In other words, you get the non-meat products, THEN you slaughter them. These are not mutually exclusive events.

Nope I specifically said you're not going to kill chickens if you want their eggs. They only kill them once they stop laying.

A movie theatre isn't a public place. So they can deny anyone they want. Women only is still an accepted discrimination, so nothing he can do about it.

Doesn't matter if it's public or not. Otherwise anybody would be allowed to be racist and throw people out of their business based on their race.

Lol. That would be great. I'd love to hear that argument. "We're counter suing him because we support discrimination!"

Actually, at least in the US, retirement communities have been deemed to be legal in the courts.

"While in the United States discrimination in housing is generally prohibited, the Fair Housing Act of 1968[8] and the Housing for Older Persons Act of 1995 (109 STAT. 787)[9] allow communities to restrict residency to older individuals. Individuals may buy into these properties regardless of age; however, the owner may be prohibited from occupying the property according to the association declarations and bylaws."

Yeah, that's from wikipedia, but I'm sure you can follow links to the sources.

I can confirm these exist but I didn't know that you could also buy them.

Your logic fails considering you're not going to kill a bunch of chickens if you want their eggs.

Hah, okay. I guess you win because you have a specific example, therefore no animal products besides meat require the killing of animals.

Nah you just automatically lost by resorting to a straw man.

Uh it did change already. Supposedly. Dog meat was not to be for sale. I'm sure it was eaten.

Bullshit. It's China. They're just going to ignore a petition from a bunch of Americans.

Cruel arguably fits, but violent definitely does. No matter how you slice it, using physical force to kill something (animals) for the purposes of gathering animal products is a violent act according to the Oxford Dictionary, and thus constitutes slaughtering them according to the internal logic of your own qualified authority.
