I don't know what to tell you. There's really nothing to get. It's just a girl eating an onion on a hotel bathroom floor while smashmouth plays. It's hilarious and it's a great take on the whole "all star but x" meme. Boy howdy I must've watched this video four or five times when FB posted it and I was in hysterics.

well... yeah. prison is 24/7 housing, food, medical care, clothing, and like literally everything. going to harvard is just tuition and books, and maybe room and board depending on how you're calculating cost.

After consultation with law enforcement and considerable study, Texas A&M is cancelling the event scheduled by Preston Wiginton at Rudder Plaza on campus on September 11 because of concerns about the safety of its students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Texas A&M changed its policy after December’s protests so that no outside individual or group could reserve campus facilities without the sponsorship of a university-sanctioned group. None of the 1200-plus campus organizations invited Preston Wiginton nor did they agree to sponsor his events in December 2016 or on September 11 of this year. With no university facilities afforded him, he chose instead to plan his event outdoors for September 11 at Rudder Plaza, in the middle of campus, during a school day, with a notification to the media under the headline “Today Charlottesville, Tomorrow Texas A&M.”

Linking the tragedy of Charlottesville with the Texas A&M event creates a major security risk on our campus. Additionally, the daylong event would provide disruption to our class schedules and to student, faculty and staff movement (both bus system and pedestrian).

Texas A&M’s support of the First Amendment and the freedom of speech cannot be questioned. On [MrMelodramatic's 21st birthday] the university and law enforcement allowed the same speaker the opportunity to share his views, taking all of the necessary precautions to ensure a peaceful event. However, in this case, circumstances and information relating to the event have changed and the risks of threat to life and safety compel us to cancel the event.

Finally, the thoughts and prayers of Aggies here on campus and around the world are with those individuals affected by the tragedy in Charlottesville.

After a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, turned violent over the weekend, Texas House members on Monday called upon the chancellor of the Texas A&M University System to stop a planned "White Lives Matter" from taking place on the College Station campus.

As the violence unfolded in Virginia, Preston Wiginton, a Texan with deep ties to white nationalist movements, announced he would host a rally on Sept. 11 on the Texas A&M campus.

“TODAY CHARLOTTESVILLE TOMORROW TEXAS A&M,” the press release said. Richard Spencer, a white nationalist whose December speech at Texas A&M drew thousands of protesters, is expected to attend.

In the House chamber Monday, lawmakers called for a moment of silence to honor the three people killed in Charlottesville and denounced the actions of the white nationalists who attended the "Unite the Right" march there.

"This is not Republican versus Democrat, or even white versus black," said Rep. Helen Giddings, D-DeSoto. "This is about right versus wrong. This is about empowering or not empowering the forces of bigotry."

Lawmakers asked Chancellor John Sharp to stop the rally planned for September.

And just hours later, Rep. John Raney, R-College Station, said he'd received a message from Sharp, saying the event had been canceled to protect student safety.

Raney said the event was axed "because of concerns with hate messages that have been on Facebook, and people who’ve said they were coming and they were bringing their weapons." He added the local police department said they "can't handle that."

Earlier in the afternoon, lawmakers had urged university administrators – and Sharp, in particular – to prevent the event from happening.

"We call upon the Texas A&M System and university administrators, and all of our state leadership, students, [and] alumni to unequivocally denounce and fight against these violent groups," Giddings said. "Our message to the world is clear: Texas will not engage in or tolerate bigotry, hatred and violence."

Rep. Paul Workman, R-Austin, said Texas A&M alumni in the House planned to send a separate letter to Sharp reiterating the request.

"The members of this House that are Aggie alumni strongly condemn the notion that they will use our campus to further these bad ideas," Workman said. "We as Aggies in the House call upon Chancellor Sharp to try to intervene and try to keep this from happening on our campus."

A&M officials had been left frustrated and struggling to find a solution. As a public university, it's limited by the First Amendment in how it handles events on campus that it finds objectionable.

In a Facebook post, A&M System Regent Tony Buzbee, a prominent Houston lawyer, said he has looked into whether the university could keep Wiginton from holding events on campus.

"Because we offer these facilities to the public for use, we cannot deny such use due to political ideology or speech content," Buzbee said. "The First Amendment allows speech like this, even though it is repugnant and wrong."

Ultimately, Buzbee said, Wiginton is seeking attention.

"He has never accomplished anything positive in his life and never will," Buzbee said. "It is a damn shame that our university, which sent more officers to fight the Nazis than all the service academies combined, would be tarnished by trash like him. But, in the end, the best way to deal with a lowlife like him is to ignore him."

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX)- Representative John Raney's office tells KBTX that the White Lives Matter rally planned for September 11th on the Texas A&M campus has been canceled by Chancellor John Sharp due to safety concerns.

KBTX's Blakely Galbraith just spoke with the event's organizer, Preston Wiginton, who said, "this obviously shows lawmakers and leaders in Texas don't care about white people."

KBTX is gathering more information on this.

I ended up with something like a 3.6 after flunking out of my first year of college. You can do it fam.

I transferred into this school with a 3.9 and then had shitty personal things happen that got in the way of everything and ended up with a GPA lower than 3.0. I'm ready to take charge of things again.

Really though it should be dead as dumbbells. There's no summer classes, graduation has passed, fall semester doesn't start for two more weeks, freshman move-in day isn't until the weekend. If anything it'll just be kids dropping off books they borrowed for the summer in our drop off box.

I'm at the front desk of the school library. I check out books/items for people, or help them find things.

But there's a lot of little random stuff that can happen that I'm not 100% on. Like if someone who isn't a student wants to use the library we can make them a temp card, but I don't know if I exactly remember how to do that. that probably won't happen but it could and I'd probably mess it up.

Spencer ruined my 21st birthday and I will never forgive him! I had a whole party planned for that evening, and then I had to go sing a stupid song written by the stupid university president's stupid wife to talk about stupid unity and all i got was a stupid t-shirt and all my stuff locked in the basement of a building i couldn't get into because a riot broke out.

Spencer came to TAMU this past December and caused a lot of commotion on campus, and even changed the university's regulations on who could come to campus and do what.

I don't know any of the bible by memory, but iirc that's the verse with the "as I walk through the valley of evil" line, which I always thought sounded cool.

The only thing I know from the Bible by memory is Genesis 1:1-1:3, and John 15:13. But yes, Psalm 23 is the one with the valley

I went to a memorial service yesterday for this guy who was a huge donor to my university, and also a big member of the community. It was at this huge church and over a thousand people came. Maybe even two thousand. Well anyway, I was up on stage or whatever, and the guy leading the service gets up on the mic and welcomes everyone, etc. and asks them all to join him in reciting Psalm 23, which I guess was one of the guy's favorite passages from the Bible and also appropriate for the service. He asked everyone to say it with him, so we could all be united in this trying time of grief.

And then everyone said it. I could look out into the pews and everyone was reciting, without any reference. And the people standing next to me on stage were, too. I was literally the only person on stage not reciting because I didn't know it.

So I guess I'm asking if it's common knowledge and I'm just stupid or if it's one of those south texas things I'm just not used to.

The girl I've been hardcore crushing on for like three or four months now drove into town again this weekend. I happened to be out of town until the afternoon so I thought I was going to miss her, but I saw on Snapchat that she was at school so I bought fajitas and went to school to surprise her. I completely distracted her from her work which I always end up doing and feeling awful about, but it's just so nice to talk to her and jfc whyyy do I act this way. So well anyway we hung out for like five hours, and then she said she had to get going home soon (it's a little over 150 miles, I think) but she was going to grab a quick dinner first and asked me to come with. We went to sonic and all I got was fries so she paid and said that was rent for the nights she's spent at my place. And yknow it was supposed to be a quick dinner, but we ended up talking about super heroes, and lazy photoshop, and getting old and dying alone and stuff. And I told her that grabbing fast food dinner and chilling in a car reminded me of high school, and how I really romanticize that time in my life even though I didn't like it all that much while I was living it. And we talked about the romance of sitting in a car with someone, with no plans, nowhere to go, nothing to do. The romance of having the freedom to go somewhere, but choosing to stay put with the person you're with, and just talk to them. Or to drive aimlessly and spend the whole night doing nothing (the kind of night where nothing really happens but everything goes down). And she told me she romanticized similar things, but also watching movies and star gazing and basic human contact like a hug. We spent a little over three hours at Sonic before she actually really had to go. She drove me home and got off to give me a hug and I apologized for wasting the last eight hours of her Saturday and she said it was worth it for the romantic corn dogs she ate :b obviously poking fun at me, but gently and not exactly mocking or anything. Well anyway we started a list of things we're going to do before I grow up and move and do real life adult things. Nothing on it is very big, so I hope we manage to make some headway.
