For youtube? There is no chance this is true. I don't even believe it's true for most adwords stuff either, but I don't know for sure. Cantwell gets one check for his youtube ads, from Google. He doesn't get 500 checks from every various company who happened to show an ad before one of his videos.

We've already established that it is not DIRECT economic support, and that any amount of logical thought will make it readily apparent that the ad follows the user, and not the content. So "but it taints the brand because you associate it with bad things (that you are voluntarily consuming for some reason)" is the only argument you have left, and all you've got now is to say "but with twitter it's obvious that there's a disconnect between tweets and ads but with youtube it seems like they're continuous and the same" which is your personal opinion.
