Usually, it was caused by putting in a dirty uncleaned game disc I rented from a video game store which eventually in time caused my system to start having disc reading problems. After my thirds and final PS 1 bit the dust I had no other choice but to upgrade to a PS 2. you forgot gamecube on that list. thing was also durable as fuck, I had every system that gen and that was the last one still working.
