I'd say there's a good chance. With the popularity of SAO, No Game No Life,and Log Horizon it's a good time for them to capitalize on being the first in the genre.

So basically, the quality of that plot point/genre died completely and horribly after .hack lol

I'm interested, but the number of games in this series is intimidating. Plus I don't like playing games out of order since this appears to be a later series of .hack rather than the first games. >_>
Also I don't have a ps2 so I can't play the games other than remasters.

You'll do fine without playing the first four. You'll be lost on some references, and a couple characters, albeit different, show up in G.U., but nothing that'll prevent you from enjoying them.

Plus if G.U. does well it may open the door for an HD version of the first four, maybe Link later down the line.

The dumbest thing was probably jell-o. I was in 9th grade and peer pressure was a bitch. A group of these kids were smoking weed outside, I saw them and they convinced me to try it. So I did.

Lunch was about 10 minutes after that, so I got my food and sat down. At first I felt nothing, I just couldn't take my eyes off the jell-o. It was so captivating, and it was moving. Suddenly I couldn't resist. I burst out laughing, the cafeteria went silent except for my laughter. I had to leave and spent the rest of lunch in the bathroom and couldn't stop laughing. I only took one hit of it and it royally screwed me up.

I vowed after that to never ever let peer pressure get to me after that.

Even if it's made by a third party, the IP is still Square and them pushing it in every avenue displays a confidence (or perhaps desperation) that either shouldn't be involved with a game as half-baked as XV or be so obvious in how low its willing to go.

The general consensus on the .hack boards back in the day was IMOQ (the first four) had overall the better story whereas the G.U. games had better everything else.

I look at the seat even though 99% of the time it's down. Doesn't matter what time it is, doesn't matter where I am even if I'm home, doesn't matter what I'm doing. Yeah back in kindergarten. We were in the gym playing dodgeball and I really had to pee. I went to the teacher and said I had to go, teacher told me no. So I held it in. A few minutes later it got even worse and I practically begged the teacher to let me go, teacher once again told me no, told me to stop asking, and to get back to playing. At that point I started crying and then a kid threw a ball at me, hit me in the gut, and I lost the fragile mental grip I had left and ended up peeing my pants.

But that didn't stop there. I was forced afterwards to stand in one place far away from everyone else, couldn't call my mom to bring a change of cloths, and had to go back to class sit in a chair the remaining 3 hours of the day left. Got made fun of by other kids and the teacher which prompted me to cry again.

Half the hype of LOST was waiting between seasons tho.

Not so much talking about the hype, more the quality that begins going downhill towards the end of season 3 and then it plunges off a cliff, very rarely if ever going back to the quality it previously had.
