people are only gonna vote conservative to keep on with brexit, they don't care about anything else so long as they can leave the EU

To be honest, the Tories would (and will) win no matter what. Probably a landslide too, unfortunately. Their voter base don't give a shit about issues like this, as long as they think the children are being kept safe and the terrorists kept at bay (as if any of this would help).

https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/theresa-may-internet-conservatives-government-a7744176.html

Theresa May is planning to introduce huge regulations on the way the internet works, allowing the government to decide what is said online.

"Some people say that it is not for government to regulate when it comes to technology and the internet," it states. "We disagree."

The manifesto makes reference to those increased powers, saying that the government will work even harder to ensure there is no "safe space for terrorists to be able to communicate online". That is apparently a reference in part to its work to encourage technology companies to build backdoors into their encrypted messaging services – which gives the government the ability to read terrorists' messages, but also weakens the security of everyone else's messages, technology companies have warned.

The government now appears to be launching a similarly radical change in the way that social networks and internet companies work. While much of the internet is currently controlled by private businesses like Google and Facebook, Theresa May intends to allow government to decide what is and isn't published, the manifesto suggests.

The manifesto also proposes that internet companies will have to pay a levy, like the one currently paid by gambling firms. Just like with gambling, that money will be used to pay for advertising schemes to tell people about the dangers of the internet, in particular being used to "support awareness and preventative activity to counter internet harms", according to the manifesto.

The Conservatives will also seek to regulate the kind of news that is posted online and how companies are paid for it. If elected, Theresa May will "take steps to protect the reliability and objectivity of information that is essential to our democracy" – and crack down on Facebook and Google to ensure that news companies get enough advertising money.

"We will introduce a sanctions regime to ensure compliance, giving regulators the ability to fine or prosecute those companies that fail in their legal duties, and to order the removal of content where it clearly breaches UK law," the manifesto reads.

I was never considering a vote for the Conservatives (in the upcoming June 8 election), but I sure as shit am not voting for them now.

I'm for prosecuting people for sustained online abuse and the like (not trolling or the odd insult of course), but most of the above measures go way too far. They would absolutely butcher the internet as we know it .

Thankfully, many of these measures are unworkable, at least from the point of view of ISPs, social networking sites and internet companies. However, they could tackle it from the other end, using the heavy hand of the law. After all, with the sweeping powers they now have, allowing them to hoover up our browsing data, who knows what they're planning?

Did she not learn anything from the ransomware outbreak the other day? I give governments like hers partial responsibility for it happening. Giving the security agencies carte blanche to hoard software vulnerabilities and create backdoors that can be used by criminals.

I wish technologically illiterate dinosaurs like her and her cronies would back off. At least bring people in who know what they're talking about.

Diablo II: LoD. Don't think it's been mentioned.

It's one of the most improved sequels of all time IMO. Skill trees that are a billion times better than skill books, the ability to run (thank fuck), more fun / unique character classes (and more of them), better itemization, more items / item types, a much longer game, better multiplayer, etc. The list goes on.

Only maybe the atmosphere is better in the first game.

Diablo III could be better now as I haven't played it for a little while, but at the time I played it, D2 had better itemization and character classes at the very least.

Diablo 2 pre-LoD.

Dunno how I missed that. I did say LoD though. Didn't play much classic to be fair (before LoD released anyway).

Best console ever tbqh. The library is massive and filled with quality games. so much so that I'm still finding great new games that I missed out on. In terms of graphics, I think games from that era are more than "good enough". I honestly wouldn't mind graphics regressing to that quality if it meant that we'd receive more great games. Any worse (e.g. PS1 era graphics) and I would take issue.

Funnily enough, before seeing this topic, I was just about to go back and replay Persona 3 FES (and maybe the Digital Devil Saga games too), after Persona 5 put me in the mood. As much as I've enjoyed P5, I have to say that I still prefer P3, storywise at least. I just wish FES contained controllable party members and the ability to choose inherited Persona abilities. I know P3P has the former, but it lacks other things I like, not to mention that I don't have a PSP.

I would metaphorically kill to see a Shining Force or Phantasy Star game headed by Atlus. Especially classic styles.

Fuck it, give me a Phantasy Star reboot.

My body is ready.

Also, a new F-Zero collab with Nintendo. Amusement Vision are defunct though.

Alpha Protocol 2? Yes please. Loved the whole stealth-action RPG hybrid. The first game was rough around the edges, but it really was a gem.

Yep. One of my favorites from last gen.

Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga

Meganada was a bastard. Then all the other shit that happens after that of course. Actually, that was in the second. I suppose both games had cruel endings.

Xenoblade was pretty cruel with all the shit that happened to Melia / her people and those on Mechonis too. Sometimes it's hard to take JRPGs entirely seriously though, given their often over-the-top / fantastical nature.

Killer7 is a little bit with Garcian's sudden realization that he was the one who killed all of his personalities.

Without even beating a single quest IIRC.

i dont mind being forced to use other party members if everyone levels up at the same rate

That's what I was just about to say. Also, I love when that is the case and a neglected party member has a load of upgrades waiting.

I'm a sports fan (to an extent) and a geek at the same time. Definitely more of the latter though. While I watch sport, I'm only really into two or three, and even then, I do get tired of watching them at times. I've generally been more into playing sport, but my illness (Duchenne muscular dystrophy) has progressed to the point where I ce fan't do so any more. That's been the case for many years.
