I guess individual chapters of Higurashi and Umineko are somewhat complete-ish stories and are <10 hours in total, so maybe those? I also don't think those are really newbie-friendly though.

Don't know if I have any recommendations that fit this though, since I've pretty much only ever played longer VN's. Hell, Fata Morgana probably IS the shortest one I've read and I think I spent 20-25 hours on that even.

Tbh my recommendation is for anyone interested in VN's on Steam to--at least temporarily--skip the ones in this bundle and play something like Clannad, Steins;Gate, or The House in Fata Morgana instead.

In fairness I will say that from this bundle I have heard mostly good things about Highway Blossoms and World End Economica, but I haven't played either of them myself to confirm.

Also holy shit World End Economica was written by the author of Spice and Wolf why have I not bought this yet.

On weekdays I currently set three alarms spaced an hour apart in total and almost always get up at the third one (as opposed to hitting snooze or setting another alarm or whatever).

On weekends it's anybody's guess what happens.

Your Name has honestly grown a lot on me upon reflection. Think the only reason I had anything remotely negative to say about it was because living up to the level of hype it had was just flat impossible.

Though in fairness that's not really saying anything about how it compares to The Silent Voice, since I haven't seen it yet (and want to).

Hm, wasn't a big fan of Kevin in 3rd. He's a big step down from Estelle. He's definitely cool in the prologue though! It's a shame the prologue's so different from the rest of the game. I'd almost say it's the best chapter, honestly...

To be fair basically anything other than Estelle herself would have been a big step down from Estelle.

And that last bit is disheartening but not entirely surprising. I'm really enjoying it so far, but we'll see what happens from here I guess.

In complete fairness I don't quite think this was my experience. In my case, I was modded because someone thought I posted spoilers for a game, and I'm pretty sure the mods who got my case had never played the game in question.

Now if either of them had played it, then the "talking in circles" thing is completely accurate, but I'm assuming they just didn't know enough and were trusting whoever marked me.

I really don't understand what everyone sees in it. Like to me it's just thoroughly unremarkable. And it's weird because like--visual novel vocal theme--I feel like on paper I should be one of this song's biggest fans on the board. But it just falls completely flat for me.

Final Song would have been a great winner yeah. Think my pick would have been either that, Terra, or maybe Melody of Aqua?

I thought all the chapters were pretty short except the last one or two honestly. (I can't remember, but I think the final level/dungeon is its own chapter? I'm assuming it was when I say that at least.)

Well we know there is at least one more arc taking place in Calvard. I'd guess there is going to be at least one more after that at whatever the country where the Church is centered is.

Also FC had the best pacing of the series imo, at least out of FC/SC and the 2 Cold Steel games we have. I never really understood where the complaints about FC were coming from.

Well I went to double check something on the wiki and evidently some of that is touched on in the Crossbell arc, so in theory is stuff we "should" already know for those of us that have played Cold Steel already. (but not all of it, or at least I didn't see information about all of it on the one page I looked at)

In particular, (minor Crossbell arc spoilers I guess), it does appear to be confirmed that the Thirteen Factories is part of Ouroboros and not a publicly known group, which is the opposite of what I had been assuming was the case.

It's probably bad in any "normal" format, but Shiinotic is obnoxious as hell in Random Battles. It's not actually that good in RandBats either, but it's more like it's just designed to piss everyone off. (If you can't tell Shiinotic is going to be quite low on my list >.>)
