If you think the theatrical OT released in the 70s-80s are trash tier CGI then you are wrong. I'm guessing you thought I was talking about the special editions, which were re-released in theaters, and then updated later after the prequels were made

Oh so you're talking about CGI and your good example is a movie with no cgi?

CGI = computer generated imagery

Star Wars used mostly practical effects, but it still used CGI (the lightsabres, Princess Leia's recording, etc.)

That's how CGI should be used though. You shouldn't notice that it's even there.

They weren't computer generated. They were rotoscoping. If you think the original Star Wars could do computer generation when it was insanely expensive and impractical, and the original Star Wars was considered a failure before release, I don't know ow what to tell you.

Do you mean the theatrical versions released in the 90s?

Because that had pretty shitty CGI.

the first part is silly, but the rest of it... what argument do you have against it?

Because it implies that most cops can really change the system. When we repeatedly see that even when cops are put on trial they get off the hook, let alone not even getting that far despite far more proof, why should we believe the street cops can really make a difference?

On the one hand, I'm glad she got the money. On the other, I wish it had been A LOT MORE. Poor guy was straight up murdered for no reason. That police department needs slapped the fuck down so they train their officers better. I'd rather the city goes bankrupt than have another completely innocent person killed because of basic incompetence.

"Don't reach for it" being shouted at you multiple times and you're still stupid enough to reach in that vacinity isn't considered murder in my eyes. If I have a gun in my face and a cop tells me not to move my hands, I'm not moving them. If I was legal carrying, told the cop that I was and he was still aiming a gun in my face, both my hands won't be moving from the steering wheel and they'll have to remove me from the car.

Cop: "License and registration please."

Victim: "Sure thing officer. Also, I'm a registered gun owner and my pistol is in the car."

Cop: "DON'T REACH FOR IT"

Victim: "Just getting you my license and registration, officer."

Cop: *Unloads an entire clip into a guy sitting in his car, complying with orders, less than 2 minutes after pulling the guy over*

Stop fucking victim blaming. This is the clearest case of police failing to simply follow protocol of all time. The cop didn't even SEE the gun, he was TOLD there was a gun in the car and his response was to shoot the guy 6 times.

I wouldn't charge the guy with first degree murder but second degree ("In the heat of the moment") would be COMPLETELY justified. The actions taken by that officer were so far over the top that it's ridiculous. Even his partner thought so.

It's an overreaction, but any legal case is going to have to prove that he knew Castille wasn't reaching for a gun, which they can't. But at least the cop is off the force now.

I also recommend Murder on the Orient Express for her.

I'm also going to HEAVILY recommend Robert Jackson Bennet.

Horror/scifi for him is American Elsewhere, about a woman who inherits a house from her mother in a town she's never been to, and starts discovering the secrets of the town.

Horror/Dark Fantasy for him is The Troupe, a story about a young gifted pianist who chases a performance troupe he believes is run by his father, set in the great depression.

And for one of the best fantasy trilogies out there, The Divine Cities, a story about two continents who, a few decades ago, had a great war that killed the gods that were ruling both continents, leading one continent to ruin and freeing the other from slavery. Amazing characters and stories.

I want to like this one more. I really do. It's a creepy story, built up well through the first half, and then it all comes crashing down in a rush because the pacing of this book is so goddamn weird. I would've loved to see a much longer novel fleshing out details of this, because nothing about it was bad, just insubstantial.

Not quite what I expected, but still very, very good. I was thinking something more omen-ish from the description, but instead we got a story that just builds and builds to the conclusion.
