I personally get more emotionally invested in characters but game contests usually tend to have more fun/interesting matches (though it probably helps there aren't as many)

Just going off MAL ratings, clearly it's at least liked enough to get a 7.9+ rating

sure it's not a 8.00+ where most people like it but it's still fairly well liked as a whole

seems like a case where a bunch of people like it but just has a bunch of vocal haters (like Sword Art)

I know we have a tendency to overrate Persona games, and P3 and P4 have basically disappointed at every turn, but I think Persona 5's finally big enough that it deserves to be in that top games of the decade list. If it ends up getting a port like P3 and P4 did, it'll probably be a Switch port, which would guarantee pretty high strength, too. Even without that though, I think it'd be reasonably strong.

while it'll be a step up I still wouldn't take it over something like God of War, Assassin's Creed II or even Mass Effect 3

Well at least Smash 4 is listed ahead of Melee

Seeing some of these games in 2008/2009 makes me a little sad that the late 00's aren't as strong as they should be. And wow, I never considred 2001 a threat until seeing that picture. What a stellar year. I think 1997 might be in trouble.

2008 is a personal top 5 year of mine for many reasons

but yeah its unfortunate it'll lose to the behemoth that is 2001 (though to be fair that WAS an amazing year too)
