You would wreck lives, but if you ditched tipping all together and just gave $20/hr for waiters, you would quickly see 80% or more of waiters leaving those jobs. You would just as quickly see them refilled since $20 an hour is alot for starting pay for an unskilled position.

That would actually be fair, even if it ruins lives because people currently are getting 3x that much and hour and living on it (not even saving!!).

Tipping by the general public (non rich americans) is a crime and totally wrong. If you are wealthy and make more in interest than people do working full time? Tip!! Freaking tip. You have the money, make peoples days a bit better and tip them.

But if you are struggling, living paycheck to paycheck, in debt, have unending student loans and are a step away from living on the streets because rent is so high? You should not be expected to tip $5+ if you eat out somewhere, that is just crazy.

Tipping is so screwed up in this country.

Waiters get full min wage here and expect tips. Heck you couldn't just ditch tips as waiters make most of their money from it here. You would cause riots lol. It's wrong, but you can't take 40+$ an hour away from people and say you are making $16.66 now deal with it. I mean you can, but it would be really messed up.

I'm sorry muscles but I'm going to have to STRONGLY disagree with you on this point.

Now, I do live in WA where everyone gets min wage (which is $16.66 an hour, I know...how evil!!).

So anyone working a job that tips gets tips on TOP of that. Also we have over 11% tax where I live on eating out, and the tips are calculated after that.

You say you make about $30 an hour due to tips where you live. I can get behind that, although, not to be disrespectful, but waiting tables is not a high skilled job and TONS of jobs that require training/school/money invested etc, pay less than $30 an hour, even here. Heck when I taught, back in 2015-16, starting wages for an Elementary school teacher in CA (which requires at least a BA and 1 year of training including 6 months of student teacher (where you teach a class and don't get paid) was $30k a year, with no raise possible for the first 5 years.

Here that is probably what you make at a subway or somewhere most people don't tip (subway/starbucks etc). Even at a denny's or Olive garden though, just saying the average tip is 20% (middle choice), and you only have 5 tables an hour with an average of 2 people (and as a server you know that is a very low estimate). That is (extremely sadly), 70-100$ a table at this point (just for 2 people to eat out with some kind of drink each included). Lets just say 80$ a table average, 5 tables is 400$ an hour, so 20% of that is $80 freaking dollars an hour in tips, and you still get $16.66 on top of that. Basically even at CHEAP places to eat, you make almost $100 an hour in tips here.

Forget about eating at more expensive places where a meal is $50 a person or more.

But what is really horrible about this, is take my friend who was a server for tips at Mc Manemins in downtown olympia. He worked 3, 6 hours shifts a week, that was it, and he made more than any of his friends in that time. This was a few years back before covid, and I always wanted to be a cook, just been busy running my wife's law firm, being a teacher etc and never had a chance. They had an opening for a cook and so I went to apply. Min wage back then was $13 an hour, and the cook? They got $14 an hour starting, and no share of the tips.

To put this in perspective (as i have both worked as a server and a cook in the past (although it was at carl's jnr so not exactly what I really wanted). The person in the back constantly cooking over a hot stove, moving around constantly and directly responsible for the quality of the food and that orders come out right.......made $14 an hour. My friend? If he didn't get over $300 in tips for his 6 hour shift was FURIOUS, and he totally disregarded the base pay (understandable since it was $13 an hour at that time.

How is that fair? Do you think servers are working WAY harder than the cooks? That cooks should make 1/6-1/4th the wage of the servers? Tip sharing should be normal (Although tipping should just be done away with.

Cooks in my opinion need better skills and are more important, and should get paid MORE than servers, not a fraction as much. Tipping also is HORRIBLE for those making anywhere near min wage, I don't even eat out anymore since I am retired and it's almost impossible to eat anywhere now for less than $30. Even with inflated food prices in the store, you can still eat the same meal for 1/5th the price of eating out at this point.

So A: Tipping should stop all together or at least only be expected of those making more than 3x min wage. Why does someone working at safeway as a cashier and making $16 an hour have to tip someone working at a resteraunt 20% of the cost of the food? How is that fair? The person getting tipped is probably making 3-4 times as much as the cashier from safeway.

Tipping is horrible, and honestly it's a big reason less people are eating out at this point, which is making places raise prices even more (and sometimes even go out of buisiness all together).

You would probably lose most people currently working as servers if you just diteched tipping all together and added a $1 charge per table for service, while paying the servers min wage + 1$ per table they wait on per hour. That would STILL be more than most low skill jobs out there make and more than many skilled jobs as well. With the same 5 table example above, a server would make 21.66$ an hour, that is more than home health aids and many other skilled jobs make.

That is still unfair to the cooks etc though, but at least it would be a better over all change than the current method.

Not sure what the hate is for Disney+, it's had some good shows. Really enjoyed the Loki show (At least season 1), didn't hate wanda vision, thought the Mandelorian (and book of bobba) were pretty good as well. Certainly has been worth me paying for a month of it a few times a year.

They certainly have made some blah movies/shows, but so has netflix/amazon etc, it can't all be hits out of the park. I've enjoyed more shows on Disney than Amazon I think.....or at least enough that it's hard to tell.

This new spiderman is aimed ...again....at kids, they are making another version for another new generation. I'm not akid, I'm a jaded over 50 year old, but always been a big fan of spiderman. I'm not the target audience so it's hard for me to judge how well they are doing, but certainly better than other versions I have seen.

Anyway just figured there would be more fans of spidey on here.

Only 2 episodes are out yet, but I found them fairly enjoyable. It's a good mix of keeping some of the old story while making it new.

Much prefer the love interest to be totally new then changing who MJ is, which is surprising since they changed many other characters. Glad they did.

They also kept Peter, fairly close to the original peter while changing various things (like how his webs work etc).

Really curious about Nico from runaways being in this series, will she get powers? It's def her character but obviously her backstory is totally different.

Has potential from what I have seen, def a mix of old and new, with them obviously trying to make this spiderman more current and vibe with a younger generation. It's also massively integrated with all ethnicities represented.

Gonna keep giving it a try, what do you all think about it (when/if you watch it).

We are the next extinction event or what will prevent any of them for the very far future.

Basically in the next 100-200 years, humanity will either get itself together and have the science/ability to protect this planet from just about anything, not to mention colonize other planets/moons in our solar system, or we will destroy ourselves and probably all life on this planet.

Technology will continue to increase and even now, if we had less total people and consolidated the resources of this planet, we could colonize other planets and basically live like gods. In 20 years, more than likely we will continue to increase technologically, and if the past is anything to go by, it will continue to speed up. This planet 20 years from now will probably look totally different than it does now.

20 years after that, or lets just say 30, and make it 50 years total, and we either will control our environment totally, colonized other planets/moons etc, or we will be either totally extinct or mostly (with just a very small % of our current population living on).

If we survive humanity (which has far more potential for destroying everything than any previous event), we should be able to handle anything else that happens up till the sun expanding past our orbit in the waaaay distant future. Even that really wouldn't be a game breaker by that time considering even now we could in theory create planetary space ships if we figured out cold fusion and had enough time to work on them (basically converting entire planets/moons etc into a ship that can travel the stars).

Anyway if you look at how long humans have been around (let alone recording history etc), it's a TINY amount of time compared to the distance between events, so yeah, makes sense we have not had any in the last 5000 years or so.

I think they really missed out on a golden opportunity, but they can still remedy it.

So the switch 2 (or whatever it's called) still isn't as good as the other consoles of this generation. It doesn't have a ton going for it from what I can see, but there is something they COULD do that would make it win in one category by far.

Don't go full VR with it, but provide a (comfortable and light), headset/glasses that let you see the games in full screen (huge) mode, anywhere you go. No need to have a larger portable screen (although you can still use that), when you can literally play on the equivalent of a HUGE TV anywhere.

THAT would draw in a ton of people. You could play anywhere in your house, on a train going to work, in the car if you are not driving etc. Yes, you can already do that with the small screen, but it's not a HUGE jump to just make glasses/headset (VR sets already do this, but with tons of stuff used for tracking etc). It's not even available at all for switch right now.

Making one available that is compatable with both systems on launch of the switch 2 would be a game changer.

THAT is what they should do and provide and they will win (at least for now) the portable console wars.

I gotta watch that series again (already seen every episode at least twice but it's been like a decade now).

It, parks and rec and the office (and if you count it as a comedy malcom in themiddle) are the only comedy shows I have watched all the way through at least twice.

Was so fun watching Seinfield with my wife and my best friend and his wife originally. Miss those days.

Watching shows by yourself is just not as fun.

When I was younger, I was riding with my mom on a road trip as we passed a billboard for Hooters. I mentioned, "We should stop there, I hear they have good food." She thought it was funny, but I wasn't even really trying to be. I just heard from somewhere that they have decent food. I couldn't care less about the entertainment.

But now I don't think I could even muster the desire for the food itself. The aesthetic just puts me off too much. It just feels gross, like it appeals to Boomers. And I definitely don't want to experience the second-hand cringe from other patrons making the worst comments imaginable.

"Yeah, I could go for a nice, fluffy 'Bun' on my burger, hehehe"

I was joking a bit initially, but i would really love to say that line. I get that they probably hear it way too often though:)

I have never been comfortable with overly sexual (or especially flirting etc) women. Not a fan of strip clubs at all, and probably wouldn't enjoy actually going to a hooters unless the waitress just acted normal (have no clue how they act).

Always been a "intimate stuff should be in privacy" kinda guy.

That being said, I would love to say "hello Hooter" hehehe, would be so fun.

I have watched most of BBT over the years but I didn't watch it while it aired and I certainly missed some episodes. Hated the laugh track (which they brought back for George and Mandy's), and didn't like bernadete or a few other cast members. It was ok, but nothing I looked forward to each week or even binge watched.

YS is honestly one of the best spin off series that I have seen that surpassed the original show significantly. I was not expecting anything from it at all, but never stopped watching it once I started to.

Glad to see others feel that way about it.

I've only seen a few episodes of FOB, but I liked what I saw. Sheldon is a much better show than people give it credit for. It's got decently written characters and a lot of heart.

But you should already know how people are going to respond to this topic.

Haven't been on this board much lately so not really sure, I would imagine most like YS better though, cause as you said, it's just a better show all around. Really sad it ended even if Sheldon himself was just getting to old lol.

FotB though was decent for it's time. I would rate Modern Family over it probably, but not many other family shows that were airing at the same time.

I've rewatched Malcom in the middle all the way through more than once, same with Parks and Rec and The office. The number of shows I have rewatched all the way through are low (Breaking bad is another), and the number of comedies I think are just those 3, and seinfield.

I won't rewatch YS though, even though I really liked it, at least not for quite a few years.

I used to go to hooters to watch the ufc fights, this was back in like.. 2010-2011

and the girls didnt look miserable. This was in Michigan, and it was a pretty fun place.

Maybe this is controversial, but if I could work somewhere that people not only appreciated my company and how I looked but tipped me heavily because of it, I doubt I would be miserable. I've had alot of jobs, and some of them like teaching were very rewarding, but they were a ton of work, and the pay was crap. In theory, I would imagine waitresses at hooters get tipped more than normal, and all my friends who were waiters made significantly more than I ever did even with a masters degree, working in a law firm, as a teacher, as a lead tech etc. One friend literally worked 3 days, 6 hours shifts and always made over $200 a night in tips (he didn't even count the base wage which was $15 here in olympia).

He considered a $200 night bad, and would grumble and complain about it lol.

Somehow even though that dude was decent looking, I imagine the girls at hooters get tipped more lol.

My wife was an attorney (mind you she got sick in 2010-11 so didn't practice after 2009) and never made much over $60k a year.

My friend (the one above which is the one who made the least in tips), didn't drive, never went to college and was in his early 20's. He was pulling in 15+ at least 40$ and hour, or 55$ an hour minimum, part time (18 hours a week vs well over 40).

So yeah, doubt the girls at hooters are miserable.

The winner for me is Young Sheldon, although honestly mainly due to one character.

I watched every episode of young sheldon, most when they aired. I am even watching the spin off (though it's not nearly as good).

I watched many episodes of Fresh off the boat with my wife, but probably would not have watched many if it was't with her. What was the difference?

Well first, the moms. Fresh off the boats mom can be annoying/controlling etc, but she is often funny, cares about her family and generally isn't selfish, nor does she belittle her husband etc.

Marry from young sheldon always got on my nerve (both the version in young sheldon and BBT for that matter). She totally mishandled sheldon and spoiled him, and blocked his dad from raising him how he wanted. She was selfish a few times, holier than tho alot and just flat not funny pretty much ever. She was my least favorite cast member by far.

So while the mom from Fresh off the boat was not my favorite character, she was not my least favorite (in fact I had no characters that I totally didn't like).

The dads. I would pretty much call them a wash, I liked George Snr in young sheldon and though he was an upright, good father, who was faithful and cared about his family. He also could be funny which was nice compared to Mary. He was in my top 3 characters and he brought alot to the show.

Jim on the other hand from Fresh off the boat was ALSO funny (I would say even more so) but was also a bit weaker and let his wife Pam run over him often (but not always). He was a good and honorable man and father and also brought alot to the show.

The kids, gonna just bunch em all up, were mostly a wash for me. My favorite was definatly Missy, and my least favorite was Sheldon, so all together it was pretty even. They often brought comedy to the series and other than Sheldon being annoying sometimes, I think they were all a positive on the series. Sheldon was kinda mandatory due to it being a spin off, and there were curtailed on how much they could change him.

Now the REAL difference was the grandmothers lol. FoTB's was mostly forgetable, though she did have some humorious scenses, she was more of a side character than a main one. There is no comparison to Memaw though who was my favorite character and who I wish they had done a spin off with. She MADE the show and I am 100% sure I would not have seen all the episodes if she wasn't part of it, or if she had left before it ended. The main thing that made YS so much better, was her.

That being said, the side characters in YS were generally better as well. Paige etc were very interesting/fun and heck I woulda loved to see a Paige/Missy spin off where they run off together or something lol. There were good side characters in FoTB as well, but they were usually more short term, and not as deep (at least didn't seem to be to me). Nothing really drew me in and made me want to see what happened next like in YS.

So over all, YS was the better show, at least to me looking back. Enjoyed both, but YS was more in line with competing with Malcolm in the middle (pretty much my favorite family show) while FoTB was more like competing with The Middle (still good, but no MiTM).

What are your opinions on the shows if you watched them?

If I make it without snow I will be really happy I didn't move to avoid it lol. Not even close.

There was only 1 way that the genesis beat the SNES and that was in shadowrun games. Sega's Shadowrun version was superior and fun enough to still play today, and sadly they never replicated it with any of the later versions of shadowrun.

Now there were other good Sega games don't get me wrong, but in every single case I would sage SNES had a similar but better game. Also just the shear number of amazing/great SNES games....may still take the cake as the most dominant console for a generation.

PS2 may come close to that........but yeah SNES wins, not just hands down but so badly that it wasn't a competition in any way. So many AMAZING SNES games especially if you liked RPGs. Sega just didn't have that many. Yeah the Phantasy star games were good, but be honest, how many times have you replayed them over the years? How many times did you replay FF3(6) or Chrono Trigger or Super Metroid or forget it there are just too many to mention. SNES was god.

Delta already mentioned Too Human, but even if you can't get it for free, pick up a copy if you can. The game was a blast, way underated, and sadly didn't sell well and had other problems so they didn't make the follow up games *sigh*. The combat is great. Excellent action rpg with a sci-fi but norse mythology theme. Absolutely love it and the only reason I even bothered plugging in my 360 for years (Sadly don't have it anymore or the game sigh). You can get a physical copy from amazon, probably ebay etc for about $10-15 dollars, so ifit's not free, grab it that way so worth it.

I believe marvel ultimate alliance 1 and possibly 2 were on the 360 (been awhile). They were not console exclusives though so you may have them on other systems (think they may eventually have been released on pc even). If you have not played them and can get them pretty cheap it would be worth it.

Also the 360 was the system for....fable 2 and 3.....I think. Both good games worth playing in my opinion, again if you can get them pretty cheap.

360 didn't have a ton of stand outs for me, with Too human being the only one that really kept my interest. Still the system itself is pretty cheap now I think and honestly I would consider getting one just so I could play Too human again, it's been ages (really loved that game). Berserker is the best to be honest cause your damage potential is just insane hehehe, very few games give you such a sense of adrenaline/power while playing, this is making me miss it lol.

That and Elemental Gearbolt (Ps2 lightgun game, best lightgun game ever), are 2 of my all time favorite games. Elemental gearbolt took light gun gaming to a new level while almost having you enter a meditative trance while actually playing it. You could level up while playing it (but gained more score if you didn't, and you could continue combos (not missing) throughout the whole game (at least in the japanese version, the american version (I owned both) would stop your combo between stages sadly). The game had an insane level of skill improvement, allowing you to constantly get better and better over time. You could finish the game with less exp spent on leveling (meaning more score), better/longer combos (never actually made it through the whole game with one combo, but I def made it through a few stages). Along the way you shoot crystals to release faires (which also gives bonus points/exp).

That is another game worth buying a system for but sadly you ALSO need to shell out 100-150$ to get a light gun conversion for newer tv screens (or have an old TV before flatscreens). I still have the games and even a ps2 (just not my modded one for my japanese version anymore), but have not shelled out the cash to play my old light gun games on my flat screen. I probably should since I loved them so much, but I'm just to frugal now adays.

Getting cold here so def not the time for me to test things out. I keep PLANNING on ripping out my passenger seat in my car every summer and try living in it (I'd upgrade to a van eventually), but then I never do it (been like 3 years I planned on doing it...almost start.....find out it's not as easy as I thought, plan on getting better tools and never do it).

Probably just end up continuing to barely exist here I guess. It's easy/comfortable and time goes by in and endless stream of mindless entertainment.

Not really alive, but then again I don't really have motivation to live life anyway so I guess it's cool. We all get through it eventually and at least this way I am not constantly stressed etc.

Living in a van/can might be more stimulating and have more enjoyable experiences, but it probably would have a ton more stress as well.

I mean I looked up a few energy positive conversions with Co2 in a few minutes but shrug, ain't gonna do enough research to argue that it's possible.

As far as making another layer this was doing multiple times (In CA where I lived at least), although one of them collapsed due to an earthquake if I remember right. You can actually build a second layer while the primary layer is still being used, you just can't use the second layer till it's finished (but you could put Solar panels on the second layer until it's done to get something out of it).

Again you could have the most top level be for EV only cars, or just keep themost top level setup just for solar panels (that along with ...the possible fictional Co2 conversion to electricity...would provide power for EV cars as well). It's not unrelated though because even initially I talked about making use of multiple layers (or tunnels) to capture Co2 (almost naturally) and solve another issue at the same time. It's an issue that needs to be dealt with, and if you can also reduce Co2 emissions (or at least polution) AND create an additional energy source all in 1 solution, that could totally be worth it.

Actually I did look up solar panel on EV's recently and I believe if it's sunny/not cloudly you can get 40 miles a day out of a solar panel on a typical car. Obviously you would have to not park in shade, but I NEVER see parking in shade available, your right people like to park in shade, but .....there is usually only a very small percentage of spaces in the shade (and if you have solar panels you just wouldn't park in them). I also saw they have some new extenders when you park, that extends the solar panel from just the roof of your car, to the entire front/back and a few inches to each side, it almost doubles the actual area, which almost doubles the miles per day. For now you can probably not get more than 50 miles per day out of solar panels even the best ones (that extend) but in time that could improve and maybe double. Most people do not commute more then 100 miles a day, so that would be enough.

Heya Mead/VC (Still think of you as Mead sorry).

Sounds like you have been homeless for awhile (I have not been on here much the last few years). I'm curious if you have a car you live out of or anything? I have thought off and on about buying a van and setting it up to live in. Getting a couple Jackerly power stations so I can run my laptop non-stop, running of just my cell phone for internet and using YMCA or Planet Fitness for showers.

Mainly have not done so because it's alot of work, and i'm comfortable enough where I am, even if it's not exactly great (live on steamboat island so never see people unless I drive 30-40 minutes into town....which I rarely do).

Just seems like you got things figured out so you can post on here etc, and would love to her how you do it. Not sure if i'll ever get the energy up to actually do something like that myself, but if I didn't have to pay rent, I could eat out alot more, travel and do some fun things, and you know, just basically live instead of endlessly watching shows, reading books, playing video games and mainly scrolling through reels on facebook lol.

My life is kinda sad. I was homeless from 16-17 when I joined the Air Force, and lived on rooftops. Sadly that seems like much greater times than my last few years. Pretty sad when being homeless seems like such a step up in your life.

I'd say start with the main freeways that have the most congestion and instead of tunnels at first, just make a second layer to drive on (one the freeway extension is done), but that captures Co2 emissions now. Since it wouldn't be underground you wouldn't have to worry about ventilation at all.

I looked up a few methods of converting Co2 into electricity. One of the primary ones involves using water actually (which interestingly is another result of using gas cars). Another method produced by two harvard students converts the Co2 into a solid that is then used to produce electricity. There are multiple methods, some still being worked on, so it's not impossible. Companies etc don't use them right now because A: They are not generally available and B: They are not currently required to do so.

The whole multi-layered freeway though is also mainly to remove/reduce congestion, and is just one of the methods proposed for doing so. Converting just to EV vehicles will not help the problem, which is constantly getting worse. In LA for instance, it was so bad when I visited last that it literally took over an hour to travel 10 miles, and that was every single day I was there. Congestion is crazy in some places and multi-layered freeways could help with that fairly quickly. The whole Co2 capture setup would just be a way to actually use the emissions for something positive (especially if you ALSO cover the top with solar panels, or alternatively have the top layer of the freeway for EV vehicles only which also have solar panels on them (heh).

Anyway, shrug, not gonna change/fix the world, literally just was having trouble sleeping and though to myself, why don't we just capture the Co2 from cars since it comes out of the exhaust pipe. Couldn't sleep till I looked it up and then kinda fell down a rabbit hole.

They are planning on making all cars in CA EV I think by some date in the future, but also having a massive problem with the power grid with even the EV cars they have now. In addition there are a bunch of other problems with EV cars, which cause them to almost be worse (or be worse) that gas using cars are currently.

As far as tunnels etc, you would only do it for main freeways, and by having layers it would allow no traffic for many metro-areas, which is becoming a larger and larger issue. The concept of tunnels (or multiple layers of freeway going up) has already been proposed to deal with that issue, so doing so in a way that allows you to capture Co2 would just be an extension of plans already being made.

Meanwhile they do have Co2 conversions to electricity, but they are large. I would post a link but it's easy to look up. Even if Co2 was only part of the process, the point is you would have a pretty endless supply that would be easy to collect, that could then be used and converted into electricity.

Getting rid of cars is a great idea, for primary transportation but we would need to drastically ramp up our public transportation to do so. It also requires a full overhaul while just converting freeways would reduce how much needed to be changed and could probably be done in a shorter period of time. Of course with the possible incoming auto-driven vehicles, you could have a fleet of auto-cars and not have people own them individually anymore (or not many people). That could allow for much more mass transportation (with busses etc literally picking you up at your door and creating routes on the spot based on people wanting to be picked up and let off). That could solve many problems as well, and work well with an EV system.

There are many solutions for sure, but alot of them are ...well fairly new as a possibility. I think the tunnel system with Co2 collection could have been completed now if they started 20 years ago, and most freeways could be 2-3 layers with a Co2 collecter on top by this point. That would solve the environmental issues, possibly provide alot of free electricity, and most importantly would have solved the insane traffic issues so many cities are experiencing lately.

Anyway, just random wonderings late at night lol.

Randomly trying to sleep tonight I started thinking of ways to prevent c02 emmissions from cars. The whole EV thing doesn't seem like a great solution right now, and honestly I figured there has to be a way to convert the emission from cars (which mainly comes from the tailgates/pipes in the back) into something safe.

So I did a quick search on the internet. What a world we live in where you can get any information you want at the touch of your fingers even at 3 am. Anyway it turns out you can totally capture the co2, but there are a ton of problems with it, mainly that cars emit ALOT and that 1 gallon of gas creates many pounds of Co2. Basically to drive 125 miles would create something like 100 pounds of co2 once you actually converted it into a solid. It would need to be offloaded somewhere, and you still would have problems coming up with a system that collects the co2 without interfering with the engines operation.

But what if you didn't have to collect it from the tailpipe at all, or separate it from the water, or freeze it to make it a solid. What if you just had the cars mainly drive under covered freeways, in tunnels etc, so that the co2 emissions would naturally raise up, but instead of entering out atmosphere, you have collectors that grab it in gas form, store it, and allow it to be used afterwards? It would be alot of gas, but a system could easily be made to store it if needed and transport it. You wouldn't need to worry about hauling it around in the cars we use, no need to worry about the water either (it would dissipate just like it does currently with cars). This would require large projects, but multi-layered freeways, or tunnels is already a solution we could use to help with traffic, and by building them to capture Co2 emissions, you could solve two problems at once. It would probably be less expensive than switching everything over to EV, creating a power grid that can handle that, charging stations etc.

I am a bit confused that this information has been available for so long, there are even systems set up to convert co2 in a car safely, they just are expensive, but it has not been implemented in any large way.

There are ways to use co2 to create electricity, so if you built these freeways with co2 collectors that then converted the captured gas into electricity, you could in theory power a city by the co2 emissions of the cars driving in it. Not only solving the emission problem, but the power grid problem for EVs. In theory you could make a TRUE hybrid car that uses EV when not on the freeways, but uses gas when on them.

If I could hunt and kill my own meat I would be ok with it. Circle of life and all that. The main problem I had was with the way the animals were being treated, it looked like a literally cow hell, but not the fun kind like in D2.

I don't like suffering, so to some extent in my weird twisted mind, killing an animal (As long as you don't make it suffer a long time) is not a bad thing, especially if it sustains life etc. Forcing an animal to live and suffer for a long time before killing it though, that is a different story, especially if you are doing that to TONS of them.

So that was my real problem with it, and it's mostly with beef (though i'm guessing chickens probably are not super happy with however they exist before being killed for food either).

As far as what is good for the environment I'm way ahead of the norm on that since I barely create garbage, use gas etc. I have always been sort of a minimalist, with reading and video games being my main hobbies, and now that I'm retired/old I barely use utilities etc. The small amount I do use is so tiny compared to all of humanity that I really don't feel like anything I do, or cut back on more than I already use, will make any difference at all.

I basically gave up on eating no meat mostly because, even with the large amount I ate compared to most throughout my life, it still really ultimately makes absolutely no difference in the # of cows killed or the suffering they experience. Me not buying steaks, isn't going to ever cause even 1 less cow to die, and since not eating meat makes me feel horrid, it just doesn't seem worth it just to make a pointless protest that makes no change at all.

Even though that is true though, I do feel better cutting back on beef at least, and am glad I seem to have found a way to at least eat less. I may switch over to grass fed which I have had suggested before (except it is much more expensive), but honestly the difference now isn't as much since meat prices have skyrocketed anyway. Before if a Ribeye was say $8 a pound base, Grass fed would be $4 more a pound or 50% more..which is significant. Now though the base price is $14 for a ribeyes, so $4 more, or $18 a pound....still sucks, but it's not 50% more at this point, so coupled with eating less all together.....It's manageable and I am not eating cows that were forced to stand shoulder to shoulder for miles suffering till they are eventually killed.

Strangely enough, I have never suffered ANY health problems from eating mostly meat, often going long periods of time in the past eating nothing but beef. Literally no fruit or veggies. Sailors used to get sick from that I think, but not me. I seem to be able to consist only on meat with no negatives, but if I don't eat meat for to long, I have less and less energy, feel sick, can't think as clearly etc. It gets worse the longer I go without meat, or specifically beef it seems.

Anyway, I certainly seem to be ok eating less per day on average. Back in my 20's and early 30's though, it was really crazy how much I would/could eat. I used all you can eat places like home town buffet, chinese buffets etc, and even steak challenges like at Beck's steakhouse where they had a truck drives challenge, if you ate the 6 pound steak you got it for free (I ate 2 of them back to back heh).

I go with a general 1 pound steak at this point, which drops to about 12 ounces after trimming and grilling, but that is way down from what my normal was even a year ago. I have done the math, and I think I have eaten about 500 whole cows worth of meat in my life (averaging 70 pounds of steak per cow). I have WAY slowed down, not even averaging 1 pound every other day now, and may eventually get to about 2 pounds a week. Doubt I'll ever stop completely, but it is way better than it was at least.

You could always do protien shakes eggs and multivitimans. You probably get cravings when you don't get the right nutrition.

I don't do meat substitutions because it just makes you want the original. Also I think it's pretty fair morally if you buy expensive the free range eggs.

I don't like eggs at all. I tried vitamans when trying not to eat meat before and it didn't work for me. Protien shakes sound really disgusting as well lol.

I am a "meat and potatoes" type guy who has struggled throughout his life to expand past that. I'm not one because of lack of effort, I was just meant to be a carnivore and try as I may, I have not been able to fully overcome that. I was married for years and my wife loved to eat all kinds of food, so I tried to expand my options, but I just plain don't like sushi, most thai food, most vegies etc.

Over the years I have expanded though, initially not likeing any vegies, mushrooms etc. I do like broccoli now, string beans, brussel sprouts, mushrooms (just a few kinds though) etc.

Still dont' do any mayo, humos, pretty much any indian food, don't like sushi, sweat potatoes/yams, cranberries (or sauce), turkey (though I can eat it but prefer chicken so much more) etc.

I love food so much, just....so limited on the kinds I actually enjoy/can eat. Melted yellow cheeses (not the color, so white cheder still counts) make me actually sick. It's crazy. I can eat those cheeses if they are not melted but something changes when you melt them (I'm fine with swiss/mozz/provolone etc).

Now that i'm diabetic I have to avoid carbs as well, cutting out most pizza/pasta/breads etc. Without meats....ugh......luckily I have found some healthy alternatives.

just eat meat as a garnish rather than as a main.

Yeah, not quite that far but kinda what I am doing. Less meat over all for sure, but I still get some and that seems to work. The soup especially works great that way. Get the beef flavor in the mushrooms/onions/brocolli etc, but very little actual beef used.

My soup is basically made by sauting 3 mushrooms (white) and about 1/8th of a chopped up onion in a bit of oil. I then add 50% beef broth and 50% water to that (after it browns), about 1/2 of a jalapeno (cut into 4 pieces so easy to remove later), garlic, oregino, crushed black pepper and red pepper flakes. I cut up about 2-3 brocolli florets into small pieces and add that as well. I then cut up/shave off the fatty pieces of a steak into small pieces and add that as well. Finally after it has simmered for awhile I ad about 1/5th of a jar of prego pasta sauce. Let that simmer for another 10 minutes or so and bam, a really yummy, flavorful soup, that is filling and very beefy.

It's honestly delicious and amazingly cheap. 1 2$ thing of beef broth lasts for 3 soups. The steak is barely noticable, mushrooms are dog cheap and the onion as well. All together it's probably like $2 or so to make the soup and it's very yummy.

Things like that really let you get away with eating less beef, but still being satisfied, or at least it works for me.
