My grandma told me about him many years ago. He used to live nearby and fled town when a teenage patient and intern accused him of sexually abusing her.

This was in the 70's, I believe... so long before he was famous as Dr. Phil, he was infamous around these parts for allegedly being a predator.

Lol no. He knew it was off limits. It's no different than when an employer tells you that you aren't to discuss controversial topics like religion or politics with customers, Good luck on trying to make this a "muh freeze peach" issue when his employer specifically forbid him from discussing this in order to be employed there.

Dana Carvey (Comedian, SNL alum)
Dana Elcar (MacGyver actor)

My thing about this is the same thing I said about that awful video game... we don't need more of the Gollum story. The films covered pretty much everything interesting about him that was mentioned in the books. Aragorn and Gandalf hunting for Gollum is something that's covered very briefly in the story from what I recall, and I don't know how you'd turn that into a worthwhile movie.

mercurydude

Lots of stupid comments there, especially his attacking the superb soundtrack. And if he thinks it was pretending not to be campy, he doesn't understand Tim Burton, especially during that time... the campiness was intentional. It was there in Peewee, in Beetlejuice, in Edward Scissorhands, and in the sequel to this film, where there's an army of missile launching penguins marching through Gotham.

Bubbagump posted...
I think you have to put the film in its proper context. In 1989, when most people thought of Batman, they thought of the 1960s campy Adam West version. This Batman was the first one to bring a darker (comparatively) tone to the series and did it quite successfully. It was also one of the first big summer blockbusters that had huge merchandise tie-ins (games, books, toys, etc), and made a big splash within the culture. Everyone was wearing batman shirts, consuming batman media, the stuff was everywhere! There had never been anything like it except for maybe Star Wars.

Also this... even with the campiness, it was a very dark movie for the time, especially for a comic book. It was the 1980's and entertainment and pop culture were very different from what we know now. Cesar Romero was the only Joker anyone even knew before this and a Joker who killed was not known to the general public... only comic book fans even knew of the darker Joker.

Yes, and also Charlton Heston is in it, but just for a short while at the beginning and end, while much of the story concerns a Heston lookalike that obviously would've been Heston's role if they'd been able to use him for the whole movie. His requirements were a short role and that his character dies, (so he wouldn't be asked to do more ape movies.)

But even things like the quotient can only point to red flags, they can't tell you you're on the spectrum. Like, lots of people with ASD have social anxiety but that doesn't mean everyone with social anxiety has ASD.

You just expected, Therell be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight. Well, guess whatwhere is it? This is the result of the extreme left and P.C. crap, and people worrying so much about offending other people.

That idiot is parroting the arguments of people who wouldn't even allow those shows to be made if someone tried to make them in this day and age, especially MASH and All in the Family.

AITF had a bigoted character but he was almost always the butt of the joke and the show had a progressive message. MASH? These people would be shrieking that Klinger is a groomer and the show is trying to turn kids gay/trans.

oh so they just want a record of all queer people love that

I was at the clinic today and they handed me a tablet asking me a lot of medical questions, most of which was info they already had about me anyway, but one thing that was new was they asked about my sexual orientation and this was REQUIRED info, couldn't skip it. Straight, bi, gay, other, undecided, decline to answer (why not just let you skip the question instead of making you mark that?)

I noticed another question where they were asking people to let them know if they're trans, genderfluid, etc, .

I can see how this information could be useful and I'm sure the clinic itself is asking in good faith, but my problem is with people acting in bad faith (like most of the politicians in this state) potentially having or obtaining access to that information, so I just marked down straight.

The dad also fired an employee because she wouldn't assist his murderer son.

Ashley Reynolds, a former employee of Travis Renner at Relentless Media Agency, told the Arizona Republic last month that Renners father and CEO, Adam Kifer, allegedly discussed moving his son to the cabin and shifting the blame on another boy involved in the deadly assault.

The former executive assistant at Relentless claimed the two men asked her to help with the crisis and regularly provided updates to her about the case.

Reynolds, who is a mother herself, said she never got the opportunity to decide for herself to get involved, and after two months of not being unwilling to help them with their scheme, she was fired, according to the outlet.

Watch some youtube vids on the alphabet. This will do a lot to help your pronunciation early on.

Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish is very good. It is a serialized telenovela-type story... I think it has English in the first couple of episodes and then switches over completely to Spanish and you figure out what they're saying by context. There are 52 episodes that are 27 minutes long.

https://www.learner.org/series/destinos-an-introduction-to-spanish/

I made a separate youtube channel for my Spanish learning where every single video is in Spanish. This makes things more convenient for me as things were a lot more confusing when I just had all my Spanish content mixed with the English on my main youtube page.

Dreaming Spanish is also a pretty cool source, it's all in Spanish and they use things like puppets and drawings in the beginner videos so that you understand what they're saying. Their site has their vids organized by category so you can set it up to show you only the Superbeginner ones. It has tons of free videos and you can pay to unlock extra videos.
