How do you feel about this? A 15 yo got sentenced for life for aiding in the murder of another teen.

Most she did was text the victim to lure him to a place where the actual killer who thought up the whole thing murdered him. Her 16yo half-brother who was the one who confessed everything to the police and turned them in also got a life sentence.

Personally I think both are less culpable than the DUI driver who killed 3 teens out of sheer negligence in this incident.

Oh yeah I just remembered that the case I brought up is actually a violation of the U.N. human rights convention that deems sentencing minors to life without parole a violation.

Both she and her brother were still minors, younger than the one here, who have their entire lives thrown away for being accessories to murder, which I think is morally on par if less culpable than DUI homicide of 3 teens which could be argued to be 2nd degree murder.
Your second line could also apply to DUI killers.

Shes gonna have to live with the guilt and emotional stress the rest of her life.

Shes already in prison. I dont see what putting her behind bars will fix, since it wasnt murder. She was dumb, she ruined lives. Prison wont do anything.

Just learned that he was a bodybuilder. He was also injured while stopping the attacker, and was part of a ceremony of commendation.

Peopled used to say how they were inspired by James Bond or Indiana Jones. This is just the new generation.

Louisiana is a stop-and-identify state, so that ordinance is not really to hurt anybody its just to stop these people walking that have no reason to be walking

I'm sure in no way will this lead to an abuse of power and certain demographics being targeted. Imagine living in a place where you need a reason to be outside and walking/riding a bike.

I don't know that it is bigger. But is it more popular with kids is a different thing.
How do you know this? You ask kids what they are into and they say some anime or manga.

I both feel that not many people here interact with kids and that depends on where one lives. I can still see more... domestic product focused areas still having comics be more popular among kids.

And who says comic sales are even bad? Infact right now many comics are getting 3rd or even 4th printings. I know this because I am not just talking about my butt, I am actively buying comics and also watching anime.

How do you quantify manga being bigger than comics then? I remember this whole concept of manga becoming bigger than comics happened after articles showing just how much more manga was selling than comics. Before then people just default assumed comics was bigger than manga.

Yeah. A new one launched just this March called Goze Hotaru which I've tacked onto my reading list but haven't gotten around to it yet.

If you stretch the definition of "original" and "manga" a little to include doujins, there's enough for several lifetimes.

Doujin is more similar to webcomics and both are considered seperate to big commercial manga and comics.

There's tons of isekai manga. It's just that the most popular isekai animes are LN adaptations.

Original manga? Most isekai manga I've seen are also adaptations to the LN and don't seem to last very long, usually itself just an accessory to the anime.

Unless we're using piracy as an example of something that increases sales (which it could be an argument for), then piracy isn't a factor since the whole rationale about manga being bigger than comics is due to the higher sales and revenue ie paid copies.
In any case, one of the reasons for this is that manga is more visibly varied. Yes, shonen is the main bigshot among mangas but there are still a lot of other genres that are big and even among shonen there are a variety of different premises and genres.

4chan does come from a time before online safety was priority. The online terminology for a /b poster literally has a mod-able slur. These days the internet is basically a modern suburb.

And thats exactly the reputation of horrible-ness 4chan is known for that even sites like Reddit generally curb (not completely of course). I will note that it isnt a /pol/ thing though. That kind of edgy hateful culture has been baked into 4chan since the start. Most places do seem to hate the obvious /pol/ users themselves for their obvious agenda pushing that goes beyond their natural sociopathy.

Reddit is that, but with floaties on. Also, when ppl refer to 4chan and their horrible-ness, they're actually talking about /b Random; which is a board on 4chan. Most of 4chan's reputation stems from that board, as the rest of the boards on 4chan are pretty normal.

Even random boards like the Pokemon, cartoon, food, and even the lgbt board has lgbt and Ableist slurs just being a normal part of the culture. Apparently mainstream racial slurs are actually modded but the most basic coded dogwhistles that will get an insta-suspension here are extremely common too.
4chan has its uses for finding info of the most obscure stuff that isn't brought up anywhere else but yeah, not really a place to actually use regularly.
