3D assets are easier to manipulate, substitute, alter, etc. via scripting. The artistry not only involves illustrators, but also scripters and advanced CG technology, like shaders and physics engines. Which can be tweaked relatively easily to get the desired effects.

Even non artists can buy well made 3D assets at cheap prices, and with good engine, animate and pose them with proper scripting. these engines includes features like varying physical size / scale, facial expressions, body language, skin color, hair styles, clothes, camera angles, environment, lighting, etc. with extreme ease.

we've gone far beyond that uncanny valley is no longer a concern for animation.

Getting off the grid is not hard. Myself have no constant connection at home. Only way I get online is to walk to public library, and surf on cellphone. Like right now typing this post.

Being disconnected, then, forces you to find activities to treat your brain from boredom. Myself I like to create stuff, such as my own Magic cards and sets, coding simple games (and modding) and web projects (including card creator site to visualize and organize my card ideas), and writing (short stories, but starting on novels).

I suggest for everyone to also pick up writing -- anything you're inclined. Whether stories, recipes, poems, blogs, manuals, plays, whatever. Whether it's on your free time, or whenever an idea emerges. Publishing is optional. Just get your thoughts and ideas in writing.

Would it make some things easier, sure.
But think of all the science it would make harder. Right now the metric system being a game of tens is really good and easy. Imagine having to change everything to 12mm = 1cm 120cm = 1m. Or wed have to make a new unit entirely.
