Don't even start with that. Seita LITERALLY could have gotten a job and worked to make money/food for him and his sister. The person he was staying with yelled at Seita to do so and he was a brat and just didn't want to.

Another thing that comes up is that with the ending, while it's much more powerful than a simple reuniting would have been, it does kind of beg the question of why Robot doesn't show himself to Dog. It's obvious that he lives with Rascal now and it would be inappropriate if Dog and Robot just ditched Rascal and Tin to get back together, but one wonders why Robot and Rascal can't come over for dinner once in a while or something. I think some of the subtler moments in the final Robot Dream are meant to provide possible answers to that question - one interpretation is that Robot doesn't want to make Dog feel guilty upon seeing his stereo body which might fill him in on some of the shit Robot went through on the beach.

I got the feeling that part of the reason Robot didn't want to show himself is that he didn't to put that emotional turmoil on Dog, which would in turn probably have pretty negative effects on Tin's relationship with Dog. It'd be like "Hey! I'm actually alive... but we can't be together, hope that's OK!" and then Dog will just be thinking about wanting to be with Robot again, instead of Tin, who he has.

Needless to say, I don't think I would have been satisfied with either scenario. I made my stance in my writeup pretty clear that I think Dog deserves the love of something real and not artificial. He puts the work in. He tries. Sure he's not the best or a perfect being, but he really does deserve a better life.

In terms of myself or others that live a depressing life, I am jealous and also empowered by how much Dog tries and gets himself out there. There are so many people out in the world that suffer from depression that just sit and rot away and don't try.

On the flip side, it upsets me that everything turns out so poorly for Dog despite his efforts, has to resort to AI again and in turn just delivers the messages to me "Why bother trying?" "You suck and will always suck."

Hey guys, guess what? Characters with depression aren't perfect and have flaws, shocker.

It's crazy because Dog put so much more effort into trying things to improve his life and just kept getting shut down. Comparing to Grace from Memoir of a Snail who only started trying right at the end of the movie (though I guess everything was technically a flashback except for the end, but in terms of what the viewer sees, it's right at the end.)

And reading the writeups really kind of soured the whole project for me, so thanks.

Hope Nimona is next.

Yeah I just plain disagree with nearly everyone's takes on Dog here. It doesn't matter what Dog would have tried, he would have immediately been caught again for some stupid reason or another because the writers hate him.

Back when actual cool champions were released. At least, aesthetically.

I didn't mention it in my write up, but holy crap Peter B Parker was just so awful in this second film.

I haven't watched the first in awhile, but surely he wasn't this bad. The character literally devolved into "I have a baby! Look everyone, I have a baby! Isn't she cool?"

I guess Blitzcrank is the single "weird" character pick for this game. The rest can just be more hotti babes and sexy dudes.

I agree in some sense. For what they intended? Sure.

I just think it's rather pointless and frustrating that they give a ton of backstory and flashbacks to a character they have no intention of actually developing. It feels like such a waste.

There would absolutely have to be changes to the story as a whole but I dunno, I guess I just like very flawed characters that have growth throughout a story and could see hints of that in Azulin, at least in the first third or half of the film.

I think upon a rewatch that it is clear from the very start that there is something seriously wrong with Azulin, and that he was always going to come to a bad end.

I don't disagree with this, and even more so as the movie easily just kills off characters. That doesn't change my opinion.

Unicorn Wars is the movie I was talking about, which probably comes as no surprise. I think overall it probably would have placed at like the 25th range for me. I think the ending was awful and stupid. The movie was overly gorey and revolting.

But it was also, BY FAR, the only movie on this list (of new stuff I hadn't watched) that made me keep thinking about it.

Azulin is an incredibly fascinating character. He's a complete psychopath, obviously, but I feel there's more depth to it than that. At least, the filmmakers had the intent of showing so. You get multiple flashbacks with him that show us over time that he is literally just fucking insane and was so from birth.

As I said in my writeup, I hate the ending of this film and part of that ties into how Azulin develops through the film, or should I say, doesn't develop at all. I think this is part of the problem I had with Birdboy as well as that that film had literally zero character development as well. You've got these incredibly unique characters, ideas and designs but they are merely fuel to propel the weird story they've created.

I wonder myself what I would have done with Azulin as a character that would have made me appreciate him as well as the film as a whole more. It's an interesting thought that I'll continue the think about over the next few months.

I think I am more of a moment to moment person. If something was awful for 80% of the time but had a really cool and impactful sequence or moments, itll fair way better than something that was 40% awful and the rest was just boring.

Which is actually the case for a movie that hasnt dropped yet LOL

It is sad to see Rabbi's Cat's dark horse run come to an end, I'm surprised that Elemental was kinda getting carried by the art snob voters (and Inviso) while Rabbi's Cat's biggest supporters were the furries, I expected it to get shit on for being too gross and violent.

Ive become a lot better with gross and violent stuff since doing more and more of these projects. I think it only really bothers me now in specific scenarios. Like Id still have Akira as a bottom of the barrel movie in regards to that, but maybe some other things that I had lower because of said things would fair better.

I blame Fritz the Cat for this change. LOL

I should have changed this part of my writeup. This was one of the first movies I watched and I didn't expect it to be in FIRST going into my rewatches.

The dream sequence is one of the few things that will stick with me, in terms of new stuff that I hadn't watched before. The imagery, music and tone is just so good there.

Another is from a movie that hasn't placed yet, but rather than a specific moment, that one is more about a specific character.

Glad this got into the top half though.
