I think the Ranked matchmaking will get tightened up in an upcoming patch.

Congrats on Diamond though. I bet you could hit Masters if you tried. Still lots of season left.

I dunno when you play but I'd be happy to grind some 2s ranked sometime. I'll be free late Saturday night, late Sunday night, and late Monday night (woo holiday).

Funny you mention that last part. I had a mission to play an assassin 8 times in ranked so I tried Arya for the first time and got obliterated over and over and over lmao. I guess I need to practice my mashing.

I never know when to actually punish her.

Constantly jump up and down quick to bait them to push you, when they come in for the side air or a dash attack double jump over it quickly and do the down special kick. It's such a long, extended hitbox with no hurt box it's super safe. Probably Batman's best poking tool.

This one gets me too a lot. Jason isn't OP by any means but someone good with him can give you a surprisingly tough time. And that combo of jab jab side special giving a guaranteed kill past like 60% is so terrifying.

Street Fighter does the rank for each character thing too. I kinda like it tbh because I can work on hitting Masters with each character one by one. Once I'm there I don't care so much to keep grinding.

Lol I love you guys too but we'll have to agree to disagree here. I've played basically every platform fighter at a high level and I don't think there was a single one where people didn't cry about OP characters, combos, and hitboxes. It's just a thing people do.

Melee Marth had some egregious hitboxes, Brawl Meta Knight and my personal demon Wolf would hit you from what felt like light years away. Ultimate has it too with Pyra/Mythra.

I'm sure I can find videos complaining about janky hitboxes and listing "the most overpowered moves in X game" without much issue.

Void put out a good video recently about this topic basically and that's where I'm at too.

I will say they need to upgrade the lab to display hitboxes ASAP if they want the game to feel more competitive. The ability to see hitboxes in front of your face is such a huge boon to your preparation for matchups.

Edit: Oh also I hit Diamond 1 with Banana Guard. Gonna try to get that last rank up to masters tonight.

Yes the event changed. It's explained on the event page. It's based on exp now too.

Hitboxes that hit around the body and stuff have been common in every platform fighter I've ever played so I guess I'm just used to the whole "get hit by it and learn for next time how to properly space it" thing that comes with learning a new matchup in Smash bros and the like.

I started Marvel Rivals. It has a Battle Pass. I said it before, I only have enough time to invest in a limited amount of BPs, so this is an easy drop.

It also helps that the challenges in that one aren't stupid like they are in this game. There's no "Play as The Incredible Hulk wearing a duck hat on a Tuesday 5 times" or whatever.

They got rid of most of (all of?) those skin challenges starting in season 2 btw.

Idk, I honestly don't have those issues. If I get hit it's because I mess something up, either my spacing or my timing or my hitbox placement.

In lighter news I'm excited to climb ranked this weekend when i have free time. Already almost to Plat in 1s with the Banana who I just randomly picked up a couple days ago.

So far seems like Morty is by far the hardest matchup for him. Running through mostly anyone else or at least having close matchups at worst.

Jack is good but not unbeatable by any means. I'm winning most of my games against him.

Almost every Jack spams the side special so much it's easy to just bait and punish it.

Since you only get a handful of dodges until you enter burnout, at the top level the game is all about baiting dodges out in a way you can punish, or, failing that, baiting enough of them that you force the opponent into burnout and take advantage.

If you're constantly rushing in guns blazing you'll definitely hit a wall in your wins.

From what I've played as Jack so far, he seems to have a fair amount of whiff lag, so if you can space correctly, it's not terribly hard to get into an advantage state, and since he's a relatively large body it's easy to keep him disadvantaged or hit some nasty combos.

Never mind, just played through the new rift. There's one new gem type, you keep your old gems, and there was at least one node that used the old gems in the rift. Good choices.

I read there's only one new gem type and the other three still exist and will be used in future rifts/nodes and you keep all your previous exp. Is this not true? I haven't gotten to play yet.

Yeah the story in Infinite Wealth never really grabbed me. As for the game as a whole, after over 120 hours I was kinda just happy it was finally over.

That said, I still loved the game and will look forward to the next one.

Also, minor thing, but you can't even "average" out your strength because your Gems automatically level up, and you can't unequip them*. So if you're overleveled but WANT to be on par with the stage, either for fun or to complete the challenges better, you just... can't. What kind of ass game design is that?

(*The closest you can do is equip Gems from the "wrong" category, which doesn't quite fix the problem.)

I beat that Computer level on Insanity with Bugs. His rocket does like 15% on the way up and 15% on the way down. Use that and either kill the Shaggys as they spawn, or run away until the rocket comes back using your tunnels.

I left feedback asking for Power Pledge to be exp based rather than level based in the future.

You can easily get a level a day just from BP dailies, the weeklies make even more and they stack. Also, games give 50 BP exp per win and 25 per loss now. I haven't had much time since they changed it to play because of work but I'm still almost up to level 60. I feel like there's no way easy rifts are faster BP exp than regular games now.

Shame you guys aren't enjoying the game, I'm having a blast each time I boot up.

I'll add this game REALLY needs a damn shield system instead of just dodging. And making neutral input the slow/strong attack and tilts the fast jab, while having the latter be overidden by the dash attack is godawful. I don't feel like I have good control over my character, so why should I play?

A feature to swap forward attack with neutral attack is coming in one of the next couple patches. Maybe take a break until then.

Also you can Parry if you neutral dodge, so satisfying baiting someone into one. I hope they don't ruin it with shields.

To add to that, any move with a purple effect to it breaks armor instantly and still does knockback. For example, Marvin down attack or down air (lasers), shaggy down attack (foot stomp), or Gizmo down attack (keyboard).

A trick you can use for map missions is Rift Mode works for them so if you can find a node on X map you can just use it for the missions to get them done quick.

Won a tournament with over 300 people in it just now. 18-0, we never dropped a game, won a bit of cash, and now I go to sleep happy. Loving the game, has great potential they just need to fix all the common sense things.

On the main subreddit it looks like the devs acknowledged a bunch of the community's issues and are gonna be working on fixing them.

Hopefully they get on it fast and don't get hamstrung by corporate bureaucracy.
