Good show, but it's a prototype 1 hour drama. The Sopranos is 1 or 2 years later but feels like a different stratosphere of quality.

Sopranos never suffered the drop-off that The Wire had in its last season. The show went from GOAT to Netflix filler (hi Ozark).

I'll take midichlorians over the low points of RotJ. And boy oh boy there are plenty of them.

I feel like people overlook the problems with Return of the Jedi as a "jump the shark" moment because the franchise ended for a long time after the movie came out.

Making Leia Luke's sister after they already made out multiple times was
Ewoks.
Han was useless in the film.
The stuff with Jabba in the beginning is so removed from the rest of the plot. "Oh first we need to save Han before the important stuff can start"

The film's only saving grace is the stuff with Luke, Vader and the Emperor.

I stand by this. Except slave Leia was pretty chill.

The extended music number at Jaba's Palace in the RotJ Special Edition.

That scene perfectly encapsulates the vision shift that we see in the prequel films.

It really is horrific. Most of the whole first part of RotJ plain sucks.

The Zelda franchise needed to make a big pivot after Skyward Sword, and it is all the better for having done it.

The quality drop off in the 2nd half of Castlevania SotN is big, and it taints the game by a sizeable amount.

The Acolyte is solid so far. Going to take some time to see how it shapes up overall.

It's wild how big the disparity is in what people see in each show. To me, Andor is easily the best of the SW shows.

Zod has more movie clout than comic clout. He's been getting more on the radar in the last 15-20 years though. Prior to this side of the millenium, he was most famous in the comics when he and a few other Kryptonians were killed by Superman with kryptonite. This was the late 80s and it was an alternate Earth version of Zod and pals.

She ain't known as a prolific singer. She has great marketing. But that won't cut it against the biggest classic rock band standing.

Rolling Stones by most accounts put on a great show and are the oldest active band from the 60's still operating. They are McCartney status. They are in rarified air. Also, boomers will spend the money for it.

JLo is a novelty act in comparison.

80s metal fans are creeps. I'm talking the 55 or 60 year old type who absolutely hates Metallica after 88 or 91. Or who thinks metal with screaming sucks, lmao.

Two-Face was never in the 1966 show, and he went ~25-30 years in between comic book appearances from the 40's to the early 70's. He's a character that caught on slowly with some big appearances in the 70's, 80's, 90's and then the 1992 cartoon and Batman Forever really put him over as a classic villain.

Another fun fact, Catwoman went ~15 years in between comic appearances. She was on the TV show but at that point, hadn't made a comic appearance since the late 40's. They were serious about censorship for a little while there.

Spider-Man = Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Venom

You got 2 classics and a latter day guy who is now a classic from over 30 years ago.

For Batman it's probably Joker, Two Face, Ra's and/or Bane. These villains are tied to personal failure and tragedy for Batman. Well Ra's maybe not, but he's basically Batman's twisted father in law and he's a bit of mirror for a Batman who has gone wrong. And he has the high profile stories to back up his stature.

The other ones that could fit are Riddler and Penguin, but they haven't inflicted pain or tragedy on a level with the others.

Nu metal influence is all over the current pop metal landscape. The new bands owe a lot to nu metal. I'm here for it!

Cranston is also old enough that he will do whatever passion project dramas he wants forever. He's not lining up to be the NEXT GUY. He's not competing with Gosling, Reynolds, Chalamet, Butler, etc.

This take is cold as fuck. Lady Gaga is so much better. I really don't see why Taylor is as big as she is. I've heard a ton of Taylor's music and 95% of it falls in the category of "Fine." I haven't heard anything by her that really impressed me or grabbed my attention. Other than her totally random feature with B.o.B. of all people because I like that song.

My theory on Swift is that it's bland and straight forward enough to galvanize every white girl behind it. Hence why she's massive. Lady Gaga is more abrasive and leans into drag and the LGBT spectrum.

The Beegees doc really illustrated that disco rules and that it's the imitators who ruined it.

Pretty much anyone whose career started with Game of Thrones. Many of them looked to be "the next big name" got attacked to an established franchise and than crashed and burned.

Button, the 1970 motion picture starring George C Scott as General Button.

Mickey Rourke seems like a guy who was on a huge trajectory in the 80s but it never paid off with a mainstream breakout.

For current guys, how about Hemsworth? It seems like everything after Thor has been a failure to launch him into another franchise or career path.
