what great bands were on there?

Huge ones like AC/DC, Van Halen, Bob Dylan, Metallica, Slipknot, Rush, etc. But the iconic music moments are usually off the radar songs by big or not so familiar bands:

Journey - Don't Stop Believing (huge song, very famous scene)
Van Morrison - Glad Tidings
Van Morrison - Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd cover from The Departed)
The Kinks - Living on a Thin Line
The Kinks - I'm Not Like Everybody Else
Linkin Park - Session

So many others that I don't know the name of. I barely scratched the surface.

Yeah. They came in at the end of nu metal and blew the field apart in sales and recognition.

It works for AiC because the band barely had a chance to enjoy their prime years. You put out Dirt in 92 and barely tour for it because your singer can't handle the rigours of life and the drugs are killing him. And as said, Jerry is the lead force in the band.

LP came out of the gate absolutely on fire with 3 big singles and Paper Cut is the other single. Then it doesn't really let up until... the 4th album? The first 3 albums each have mega hits on them and LP toured reasonably.

AiC had their big break with Man in the Box and opening for Van Halen, but barely had headlining success during Dirt and Jar of Flies.

This. I LOVE AIC's work with Layne, and I didn't like the idea of replacing him, but it made sense, since Cantrell was the leader and primary creative force. It also didn't hurt that Black Gives Way To Blue is legit on par with Layne's albums.

Legit album and also better than the untitled album, easily.

The LP motif looks like a 4, but no that's just what the logo looks like. The single for the unreleased song Friendly Fire has this green logo.

I just ordered TotK and Super Mario Wonder from Amazon. I beat BotW back in December so hopefully I've stepped away from that Hyrule map long enough for it to not feel very 'samey'. I will probably try to start the game towards the fall and colder months.

Some people just want to play games stress free. Old people and girls that only like 2D Mario, holla!

(In my personal experience)

I would make fun of easy mode but Metroid Dread on Normal was near mind-boggling tough.

They also had an easier knockout round draw than Spain, France, Germany. And have been kind of poor. It would be cool to see them win though.

LFG! Greece winning in 2004 was one of the greatest sports achievements ever. Greek people were at a peak that summer. Winning the Euro and hosting the Olympics weeks later. Amazing time.

I personally saw 4 as a step down from SA other than graphics and the addition of DLC. Most of the fun was stripped away.

SA had like a thousand hours of content, GTA 4 was kind of a one and done. The online mode was legit bad, though it paved way for GTA Online which was a fantastic addition to the franchise.

I can see that. SA was the perfect mix of arcade feel and good game play. 4 went too hard into realism IMO. And it was more bare bones.

3 and SA aren't the same, but SA is the pinnacle of what 3 started. And then 4 was the start of the next jump in the franchise.

Batman Forever also had the U2 song Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me. That's another good one. Even saw them play it live in 2011 so that was neat.

In my mind, all of the high school pop punk, emo, and metalcore all kind of blurs together.

That was a HOT song in the summer of '95.

Never read to the end of N52 Swamp Thing, but Futures End was an event where things went to hell 5 years from the present. There would have been a 1 shot issue of Swamp Thing of that alternate future, and it just expands on the Futures End series which was a weekly book for like 48 or 50 issues.

It's pretty damn shambolic. Not quite Batman v Superman, but still pretty bad (yet I still begrudgingly like it?!)

It's an early career tale. He didn't quite have the outfit down yet.

Action Comics by Grant Morrison was pretty damn good. The main Superman book and the latter part of Action Comics got close. Then they both stepped up when the DC Rebirth era started.

Hard to see it now. But especially back then, you're only years or decades removed (or still in the midst of) from the great empires trying to get a piece of the action. British Empire, German Empire and whatever continuity they had into the Hitler years, Soviet Union in the place of the old Russian Empire, the Ottoman Empire, Japanese Empire, etc. The old world leaders like Churchill and Stalin were living in a cavalry charge state of mind. These guys grew up on horses and the big war concluded with the atomic bombs.

WW2 is the last throes of that age and the US took us into the modern age with the atomic bomb. It kind of made a lot of this old swashbuckling obsolete and deadly serious overnight.

Very true. Germany and Russia basically had an agreement over Poland and a truce between themselves. The war started with them as pals each tearing up Poland and adding it to their lands. Then Adolf reneged on the agreement and ordered the invasion of Russia.

It's great but I can't put Breaking Bad at 1 because it's too Hollywood. Rigging a machine gun to mow down your enemies? The twin Mexican dudes that don't talk? The ridiculous pool party plan?

All due respect, Breaking Bad has no f***ing idea what it's like to be number 1.
