SZA album is good. But its streaming numbers are being carried by the facts it has the best RnB song in at LEAST 15 years on it.

Yall not knowing who Sza is at all tells me yall arent very attached to black culture or people.

Well we knew that already. CEs demographics are pretty obvious once you get the vibe of the posts.

But even I'm surprised people haven't heard of sza. You have to avoid the outside world to an impressive degree to achieve that.

I imagine a lot of Americans have similar stories given that here a language elective is usually required at some point but not truthfully encouraged.

I won't blame the education system for this one tho. I just lacked the dedication.

Warmer climate means we're going to get more pandemic-style diseases in all reality, so it'll likely be way more common. Climate change is definitely fucking us up already(Look at the Tornado statistics from the past couple years would be an easy one).

Being a small force of good is great and all, but these days it's pretty easy to feel like everything is crushing you under heel in the present, and the outlook for the future is pretty grim these days. Not to mention Millenials going through... three? Four? "Once in a lifetime" economic disasters. I'm still doing what I can for my retirement, but that's strictly because I want time to sit on my ass and play video games when the time comes until I'm too old to move. Most people I know though? They don't care about it, honestly.

That's a casuality loop that's going to guarantee not only their present misery, but misery for their future self as well.

Italian's a phenomenonal language. Not much use for it in America sadly. Was fairly prominent up until the early 80s. Sad to see such a beautiful language dying.

I follow a lot of artists especially in the comics scene who are from Italy so thats part of what interests me. Id love to visit someday

I've heard Spanish to Italian is a pretty lateral move that allows you to make quicker progress but jdk

You know what those people had though? Belief that a future was going to be better.

Today, what do we got? The climate lookin' to give a whole bunch of people beachfront property and waking up all kinda nasty diseases. The economy not really following common sense any more, and even if it does we got crypto doing whatever the fuck it wants with money basically.

Big difference between then and now? Prez gettin' blown away, nukes flying, all that is controllable by humanity in some degree. We can recover. There's a lot of stuff going on right now that we're just incapable of fixing as things stand, and we're trying, but we're still a long ways off making anything better.

Diseases and climate disasters aren't new, but this climate one is a unknown. While itd been a while since humanity has faced a legit one, weev also never had the technology and communication we have now.

Not really a reason to care too much about the future these days.

If you dont care about the future theres no point caring about the present. But people do care about the present, and should.

You just gotta carve out an existence that works and take control of what little you can. Theres value even in being a small force for good in the world, there always has been.

Yeah, I know a tiny tiny bit of Spanish. I wanted to learn Japanese in high school, but my mom forced me to take Spanish instead. I get why, but I wish I had just taken Japanese classes any way.

My first Spanish 1 teacher was from France and had a thick French accent. She said her French accent prevented her from rolling her Rs properly for Spanish. Then she got mad at us late in the year because we didnt know how to roll our Rs properly either. My 2nd Spanish 1 teacher was GREAT. Then she quit because the kids were so bad. My Spanish 2 teacher was OK, but I didnt retain much. We mostly just did worksheets instead of more verbal learning in her class.

My Spanish teacher wasn't bad, I absolutely suck at rolling the Rs, it just doesn't come out right at all. I approach my native language English with a more methodical and thought out way of speech so when I try to speak Spanish it sounds especially disjointed. Its been a while since I even attempted tho. I really gotta get back on it,

The point is betting on the country collapsing before you have to worry about living after 65 is naive at best.

The last century saw a sitting president get his head blown off while in office; a literal button switch away from nuclear holocaust, mccarthyism putting fascism lite in American homes and more.

Country didn't collapse. It's gonna take something more than what we have now to collapse it.

Is there like a higher concentration than normal of people with serious health impairments and doomers here on CE? Lot of people seem to think they, or the country (which is very silly), won't make it to retirement age.

No they're mostly just relatively young and doomers. Once people go outside and gather things in their life that people live for, their perspective changes. The die young thing is a .... young people thing. One I've thankfully managed to avoid. That said I have plenty of health issues but if I got the career I desire I wouldn't WANT to retire
