They were literally in the middle of agreeing to an alliance with Rufus when Yuffie tried to kill him, that's as friendly as it gets. Only Barret thought Yuffie did them a favor.

I am allowed to dislike how the Shinra villains are mostly treated with kid gloves. That's why it's so refreshing that Scarlet is just "give me that gun so I can be pointlessly cruel and shoot off Barret's arm! Now I'm going home to recline with my human footstool while cackling maniacally."

Scarlet and Heidegger are entertaining evil, Palmer Corneo and Hojo are skeevy evil, Rufus and the Turks are annoying evil, and Sephiroth is interesting evil.

Eh, Rufus gets grouped with the Turks in the friendly rival category. He didn't even get charged with any crimes in the aftermath, he's still free in Advent Children. At least Scarlet, Heidegger, and Hojo died.

Yuffie wanted to assassinate an evil dictator, that's noble. The Turks crushed a bunch of innocent civilians.

And I absolutely think they'd kill Scarlet without hesitation if they got the chance. We'll see if she still goes down with the Proud Clod in R3. If she does, I bet no one will mourn her.

When Cloud went crazy near the end of Rebirth and almost killed Elena, everyone was shocked and stopped him. If it was Scarlet, I think Barret and Yuffie would be shoving him aside to kill her themselves. When Tseng, the guy who went along with dropping the plate, got injured by Sephiroth in the temple, everyone was worried and helped him out. They absolutely treat the Turks as friendly rivals and I hate it.

Hey now, Scarlet personally grabbed a gun from one of her soldiers to shoot off Barret's arm! And she enjoyed every second. Her hands are plenty dirty. I vastly prefer over-the-top evil compared to, as Fiop put it, the mass-murdering Turks being treated as friendly rivals. Like, when we see Scarlet in Intergrade she's using human beings as furniture because she's hilariously evil. Meanwhile, Rude gets a goofy moment in a bald bar in Rebirth that tries (and fails) to humanize him.

I don't like how my only option is "yes I adore this game, recommend only games like it" or "I hated this game, don't recommend anything like it at all". Why can't there be a middle option? Like I played GTAV. I didn't love it but it was fine.

Remake is good too for sure, but it didn't have those open world zones! If we just compare plot moments between the two, Remake was by far the tighter experience. It had better pacing even with extras like the sun lamp chapter, no Zack cutaways, etc. But Rebirth was all about exploration and doing stuff on the open world and I loved it.

The thing I remember most from Crisis Core is how annoying it was to play. Cutscene of Zack walking forward, then a battle, then another pointless cutscene, repeat a dozen times in a row. I hated it all pretty much from start to finish but the sheer annoyance is what stuck with me most. Just go to the next mindless battle! I don't need a sixty second video of Zack going back to a comatose Cloud and helping him move another ten feet forward before setting him back down to fight again.

I went to the original FFVII script and did a search for Elena dialogue. It's amazing how much better she was in the original game. A large portion of times when her name appears are people telling her she talks too much or her panicking when the party shows up. And that's endearing! In the original game, she was the dorky Turk with a crush on Tseng. Even the few times she tries to threaten the party come across as false bravado given the rest of her characterization.

In Rebirth, Elena is just abrasive and I hate her. I finally figured out why, though. I remember hearing that the Japanese voice actor for Reno died, so his part was reduced and largely given to Elena. They made Elena a female Reno. And I hate Reno, he's one of the worst FFVII characters. Making Elena like him was a terrible idea imo.

I probably should have done that. Oh well, I'm past the point of no return now! I tried Phoenix and Kujata with fire elements in my armor but I only got Kujata to 50%. Then he switched to lightning and annihilated me...

My understanding was it tried to break quickest 500 records. People with a bunch of accounts and scripts to quickly switch between them voted on some random thing and spammed to 500

An easy thing to miss is that doing the synergy skills with Cloud also increase relationship values. I got Red XIII and I'm certain that's the reason why I got him over anyone else.

This is probably why I got Barret. I only really use Yuffie and Barret (rarely Tifa) so those two are the ones I've done synergy skills and abilities with.
