No it isnt. The vast majority of the population doesnt even know theyre acronyms, and theyre written in all lowercase. Thus theyre pronounced the way the word sounds, just like GIF. Most people decided it was pronounced with a hard G, and thats how language evolves. Thats why dictionaries are goin to list both pronunciations, because 30% of people say it like the peanut butter.
