I think another legit gripe about the game is that the transformations don't do quite enough to change up the gameplay. 2 of the 5 transformations are just to fit into smaller spaces, 1 is just to traverse cold water, and another lets you fit into smaller spaces and also fly. Only the alligator feels fresh and new, and I wish the others were more like that.

But yes, I also feel like the fluidity of just getting everything in one go is a MASSIVE advantage BK has over SM64. Compare what someone does in Bubblegloop Swamp over Tall, Tall Mountain.

In BS, you have a tall village to scale, a concert to perform, Jinjos to collect, an evil crocodile to battle in a fruit-eating competition, some other crocodiles to feed, an egg to destroy, an army of frogs to dispatch of, and a tortoise to keep warm.

In TTM, you scale a mountain and collect a star, then it kicks you out. Then you scale the same mountain, but then a monkey is there instead, then it kicks you out again. Then you scale the same mountain, but 80% of the way up there's a slide you can go down, then it kicks you out again. Then you scale the same mountain, but there's a waterfall you can jump behind, then it kicks you out again. Then you scale the same mountain, but this time you stop 2/3 of the way up to collect some red coins on the way back down. It just feels so horrible in comparison.

I'll guess OoT > SM64 > MM > PM > BK

Aces is more of a fighting game than a sports game. I enjoyed it immensely for a while, but it was fairly short on content. It came with a story mode that was neat, but also full of gimmicks. 64 Tennis is still my favorite, with GB nipping at its heels, but Aces is a pretty distinct 3rd place from Power Tennis.

Sent in a write-up, but it got lost in the weeds apparently.

This was a huge comfort game for me in my teens. I honestly couldnt tell you how many times I went through the Star Cup back then. It was easily in the hundreds. I wouldnt doubt it if you told me the number broke four digits. And I would watch the credits every single time. I dont even remember if you could skip it or not, but I never did because I loved the fact that it personalized each tournaments credit sequence with an exhibition match between your character and whoever you faced in the final. Also, the credits music brings back some truly cherished memories. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

The game didnt have a great amount of depth to it, but I didnt need depth in my game back in 2000. The tennis formula was just more fun without all the rigamarole that came with the future titles. I didnt need power-ups and defensive abilities. Every point in every game in every match would become a battle of attrition: who would mess up first? Whose reaction time would falter by the fraction of a second needed to turn the tides in the other guys favor? Every point was tense as hell, and when you start to get that edge and the star begins to appear on your side of the court: not many video games in the world can make you feel more empowered than that.

I have Tingyun in DHIL team and Bronya in Jingliu team still. Jingliu isn't as dependent on needing more skill points, she benefits more from straight damage buffs, and since I only have Bronya in one team, I can specifically tune her to Jingliu's speed and not have to worry about it.

Could I still send in write-ups? I had a lot of these games in my sports list, and could shorten some up real quick to be included.
