Look at little kid anakin in episode 1. The one whose arc words are "the biggest problem in the universe is that no-one helps each other."

Like, what do you THINK happened between 1 and 2 that made him grow up into... that? He just woke up one day and decided "imma be a genocidal dick, now?" This isn't some Christmas special where the red-nosed reindeer has infinite love and forgiveness for his abusers.

Sure, if we only go by the movies, that's all he did. But there is more canon material beyond the movies. A LOT more material. Mace was a dick to Anakin since he was about 9 years old, a constant downer/naysayer about him. Yes, anakin was a brat. Yes, he didn't deserve the rank of Master, because being a good soldier isn't the same thing as being a good priest. But Anakin didn't become a brat in a vacuum. Outside Obi Wan, Anakin was "othered" by the jedi pretty damn hard for years, basically up until the Clone Wars.

But fine. Mace Windu. He spent years constantly belittling and being a dick to Anakin Skywalker. Since childhood! Way worse than one moment of weakness where you draw a weapon while someone is sleeping.

Since you didn't answer my previous question, I will do it and unpack the problem with your claim.

Luke went to confront Ben apart from the others. Ben's asleep, so Luke uses the Force to examine Ben. Fine.

Snoke already turned Ben's heart. The vision of the future the Force gave Luke was damning. Upset, but okay.

Luke "in the briefest moment of pure instinct" ignites his lightsaber--an impulse he thought was long gone--but without thrusting or swinging the blade at Ben. Still okay.

Then Ben attacks Luke, Luke defends, and Ben collapses the hut on Luke, leaves Luke for dead, and goes on to destroy the temple and kill the other students. And goes on to lead his Knights of Ren to find inhabited targets for the First Order to attack, raid, or destroy at Snoke's bidding. Now, *this* is a problem.

So, in your view, Luke's mistake was NOT killing Ben? Killing Ben would have been far outside of Luke's character.

Kylo went nuts because of Luke's stupid, plot-driven mistake. Then, instead of fixing it, Luke fucks off on some random planet and blames the Jedi for his failure. This is the same guy who never stopped trying to redeem his father. Pretty textbook character assassination.

But what point is there in taking you seriously if the only response you'll have is that Luke is such a master that he could never be tempted or influence or even have a weak moment when the dark side comes knocking?
