Yeah. There's a new series coming out this year or next year, but it's seemingly going to do its own thing or be loosely connected to everything else.

King Kai's original voice actor in Japanese died and they essentially dropped him in Super. They only do recasts in very, very specific situations. Usually the character dies with them or they stop existing in Japan.

They still had him like once per arc. They might have dropped him off as a general utility character relative to what might have been, but it's not like they don't recast characters all the time. Bulma's VA died within a few years of that as well.

Random battles very often are not balanced well in terms of frequency and pacing. Games rarely had any way to mitigate them in the past.
QTEs are just a mindless form of engagement that provide no real player feedback 99% of the time and might as well just be full cutscenes.
Handholding and easy modes often are balanced poorly and end up affecting the experienced users in negative ways, "yellow paint" being a recent example or the Mario games that completely cut out the little 100% bonus if you died in a level 5 times and saved.

I'd say the main problem is that the Japanese broadly don't write trans characters in the same way as the west, so there can be a bit of a disconnect trying to slot characters from one perspective to the other.

The original games were in the late 2000s on the PS3 and 360. They were "crazy detailed" enviroment and landscapes and NPCs for the time. They still hold up today. But 'Crazy Detailed' on the 2009 PS3 is now standard in 2024. Ass Creed 2 was boasting that they had animal NPCs as an advertising feature. Imagine a Triple A game today promoting "We're so advanced we have pig NPCs" as a selling point.

RDR2's pig npcs probably have more programming than Ass Creed 1's human NPCs.

It was never "historically" accruate and never claimed to be. It just referenced a ton of real people and real events in an entertaining way. As I said earlier they acklowedged their own innacuracies in the game's lore.

The technical aspect of it isnt the point. It was that they apparently did extensive research to try to replicate, as much as possible, a historically accurate land. There was a large amount of marketing about it back in the day that I recall. Again, I dont know if theyve kept up with that in the recent games, but it was a very major thing for them way back. Its quite possible they completely abandoned that, but its not surprising that people might still have that impression from back then.

Ubisoft used to brag about how crazy detailed they went into the world and landscapes. Even if things got fantastical in terms of plot and character, you still had the notion that the setting was as historically accurate as possible. Not sure if that died down after the original trilogy, but its not surprising some people may still have that impression of them.

I'm surprised anyone still engages with him. I think he's the first person I've ignored on this site because his gimmick is just so annoying.

Curious if he was just given the GameFAQS position without any choice, or if he volunteered for it. He's done a terrible job either way, but the former is slightly more forgivable in terms of the lack of a fuck he gives.

Pretty sure there should be enough mods to make that unnecessary.

Homelessness is not a circumstance conducive to addressing mental health concerns. The places with high rates of homelessness aren't unique for their mental health crises; they're the places with the highest housing costs.

I think the main problem is lumping all kinds of homelessness into one box. The guy living out of his car, the teen kicked out of the house with no support, someone who has been living on the streets for twenty years, etc. are all homeless. Each is a problem that needs to be solved, but all are solved in different ways. The average person can see the first two and not inherently even know they're homeless, while the day to day homeless person that is a "problem" for a local community is only generally going to be one type. All of them need help and support, but not the same kind of support.

I'd say it's less of a funds issue and more of a complete infrastructure issue. Not to say we don't have the funds to fix the infrastructure issue, but getting those funds to the right places is the bigger problem.

I'm pretty sure he has the technical skill to do it. I think he got the Pac-Man one live on-site at an arcade. He's just such an egotistical piece of shit who always needs to be on top that he's willing to do whatever it takes, for whatever reason, so he cannot be trusted.

Reasonably give? My dude, we have more than enough money and resources to help all of these people. It's cheaper to house them than it is to police them but since our society is build on cruelty we don't. Not to mention if we can incarcerate them then the private prison sector gets paid.

There are parts of the homeless population where just giving them a house is a perfectly valid way to end their homelessness, but those are generally not the kind of people who live permanently out on the streets. The section of the homeless population that is the most visible are the kind where just offering them a house isn't going to end things for them.

It's hard to say what exactly can even be done. The portion of the homeless population that makes active camps is going to likely be the kind that need more help than we can reasonably give. If we could promise fair care under forced institutionalization, that could help, but it's doubtful we have a system in place where they'd be treated well.

From seeing some of his other stuff, I don't think he actually believes it and he's just saying shit to stir shit up. He's certainly dumb enough to believe it, but I think he's just purposefully playing all sides, his stupid fans, his "ironic" fans, and his haters.

In terms of the game itself, it certainly doesn't matter because AC gave up on "semi-historical accuracy" a long time ago, so who he was and what he did in life doesn't really matter to his in-game self. As a general trope, I think Yasuke in particular seems to be weirdly overused after he had some kind of cultural emergence in the last few years. I understand why people may want to explore him as a person and as a character, but I guess it can come off as kind of lazy as well because a lot of it is just turning him into an original character.

I certainly don't hold any nostalgia for it. It's like the people who defend the SNES era Woolsey translations. They're not good at all.

It doesn't get any better. Series dropped off hard.

I have only ever read that he was samurai. Lots of other things in question about him, but not the samurai part.

I think that was mostly mainstream media being dumb, which lead to a cyclical feedback loop of people trying to add it to Wikipedia.

That kind of thing isn't odd for something thrust into the spotlight all of a sudden. Often, it's just pure vandalism, though that seems to be a content dispute.

Id say Yasuke seems to be overly milked for such a minor historical figure, but theres certainly nothing wrong with the game over it.

It's pretty silly. I think I've seen people have trust established and have its managers accept it, so seems to be an option in at least some places.

It's definitely a massive overcorrection. It honestly might have been fine to add some more specific rules to tone it down a little, but nuking it was a bit silly.

I don't think they put any real thought into the whole process.

It would probably be done in the horrid BD/SP style, so hopefully no more remakes for a while. I honestly wouldn't mind a Let's Go Johto though. It was basically just a walking simulator, which was fun enough.

Definitely has a memorable voice if I can still hear it while reading that, despite not having played Portal 2 since shortly after its launch.

I really have no idea why studios thought they could take the experience of cheap ass gacha games and extrapolate that onto the AAA industry. There can only be so many popular live service games on the market at any one time. All the phone gacha games can only thrive because they're cheap to make and maintain relative to the money they make.

It definitely has similarities in terms of how the gambling mechanics work and drive people, but theres also an actual robust gameplay system that can draw people in for the sake of it, and you can get everything you want on the secondhand market.

I hope that was planned out way ahead of time. While the end result is the same, it would just seem weird to me to waste all that time just to throw it away, rather than purposefully use that time to make an epic shitpost.

Im not sure I ever really notice. If you gave me two versions of the same game at 30 and 60, it would probably be noticeable, but its not something I really think about going fresh into a game if the frame rate is stable.

The first one definitely holds up. I think the other four were fine, but I can barely remember what happened in them. I'd say you really only need to watch them if you're really into it. I'd say the newer films are all pretty good.

Digging the creepy-ass Cell. The rest of it can burn in a fire, though.

Basically a midpoint between "we can't stop people from waging war" and "unrestricted escalation would lead to massive deaths for all involved."

I think a few people did do the thing where they go too far and pull up and post someones social media in a setting where its not really appropriate. I dont think anyone posted anything that was not already publicly available, but it definitely can be borderline when people start posting stuff like that.

I honestly don't know why they're even bothering at this point. At first, they were clearly trying to do the usual thing where they play themselves up as good people with good intentions, but they might as well just move onto the next step after all these closers and bullshit. It seems to be the same kind of shit they did with those other wiki sites they bought a while back.

Yeah, they definitely balanced things more towards the people who want to do like 50-100 runs and still have content. I'd rather have had a QoL option where you could have double the things happen each run to speed it up a bit.

The resource gathering looks like it might be tedious, depending on how its set up. If you have to go through every room looking for them, thatd be annoying. If its like fishing in the last game, it probably will be fine.

It depends entirely on the purpose of the remake. Often remakes will pander to those who came before in marketing and such, but the final product will be shitty comparative to what people would have wanted.
