I was going to reply, but he blocked me from doing that, too. :| I deleted "the post," but Scotty probably quoted it.

And, for the record, I quoted Scotty calling Luke, and by extension Yoda and Obi Wan, "a loser." I didn't make that Jedi-in-hiding meme; I just found and posted it in pieces.

FS bakes different combinations of the same features into their bosses. You can see this more clearly in some bosses than others, like Artorias (DS1) and Alonne (DS II).
.

One boss fight trope FS usually avoids is telegraphed movesets to signal a [boss now takes] "Scratch Damage."
DS III, Iudex Gundyr fight (fists only): https://d1w6li7s85ibls.cloudfront.net/qvbr/90pq9p_640x360p_qvbr.mp4

Boss: "Oh, you hurt me bad! Now, I'll change color and become invincible for a while. You'd better run and hide!"

OK? So what?

Are you suggesting that those people have never made bad star wars content before?
No, I'm saying point-blank that Lucas hired Kennedy to manage Lucasfilm and she set-up the story group while he was still in charge. It was something she did that he approved so that projects in the three branches: i) movies, ii) shows, and iii) novels and other media, would have the appropriate canon integration or non-canon exclusion to ensure history and story continuity going forward under new ownership could and would be followed.

Abrams was in charge of the first big Star Wars project for Disney. We still don't know everything that happened, but two things are clear: Abrams is a spontaneous "on the fly" creative solutions guy; the story group is about planning around what happens before, during, and after any events in the Star Wars universe. The story group cramped Abrams creative style; he didn't want to deal with them for every idea that he wanted to try and Disney didn't force him to do it. This set a precedent for the Star Wars projects that followed in all story branches.

tl;dr, Disney let the story group go from prevention to PR. So, every Star Wars project potentially could derail the other ones around it. This started before "The Force Awakens."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDPnsTRAvIM

And remember, Attack of the Clones (2002) was written, directed, and produced by Lucas when he still owned it.

I really don't think it's very far out of the realm of possibility that Disney told him "shut the fuck up and fix it, or else."

Like, Lucas was fine with his actors dissing his work. Disney is NOT.
About Disney trying to keep Hamill from speaking publicly what he knows and feels about his *released-movie* experiences, he laughed in one interview and said point-blank "What are they [Disney] going to do? Fire me?"

[ Look-up Hamill's interviews about his Joker VA performances and audition. IRL, he loves to play the trickster. ]

Lucas was different. SW cast often made suggestions and even criticized what they felt were awkward or out-of-character scene or line set-ups to the faces of Lucas and the writers. Lucas was fine with that, but he did not hesitate to isolate or "starve" any cast member who leaked or spoke-out about an unreleased movie and get scene performances he needed from actors *only* in the edit (individual shots with false or no explanations).

[ Look-up the unreleased SW movie story leaks David Prowse (Vader) did and what Lucas did to him. ]
.

SAlYAN posted...
But Luke has never been an abdicator. Certainly not when his loved ones are targets.
And here is the point that people who don't like DST Luke either miss (don't know) or ignore (know and lie about):

Luke relied on his instinctive responses to create opportunities and solutions. This was *fine* for an apprentice, but *less so* for a knight and *not so* for a master. Luke's knowledge and skills changed, increasing greatly, but his instinctive responses to situations did not change. He underestimated them, assuming logic would overcome any deep-seated emotions or instincts. What Luke's character needed was to confront what was deep inside and finally match what was gained from outside--true mastery, inside and out. For this to happen, the strength of his optimism and passion for who and what he loved had to become a liability. Luke teaching Ben made it possible.

Before you sh!t on TLJ and Johnson [again] for Ben's or Luke's behavior or actions, remember that Abrams, in collaboration with Kasdan and Arndt, taking points from Lucas' original ST treatments, canonized it in TFA. And ALL of this was advised, reviewed, or revised by Hidalgo's [Lucasfilm] writer's group and authorized by Disney.**

** Following approval from Kennedy, who relied heavily on Spielberg for input and suggestions on Disney SW.

And I am sick of this stuff about the briefest second. He pulled a weapon on someone sleeping after creeping into there room that isn't good.
It's what Luke says in TLJ; he doesn't dismiss the consequences that follow. And OT Luke had the habit of igniting his lightsaber *and* attacking first when he felt threatened. Self-restraint never was one of Luke's strong points.

The point: Luke went to privately confront Ben about Snoke, not to attack him. Luke didn't know Ben was primed to give a violent response. Luke suspected Ben, then Luke saw the truth about Ben, and Ben was caught. Ben attacked Luke and Luke defended himself. So, Ben attacked Luke again and left Luke for dead. Luke, with his actions, made a regrettable mistake (didn't he?). Ben made no mistake; once caught, he intended to kill Luke.

Dungeater posted...
it doesnt even matter what mark hamill thinks, that doesnt make one argument stronger than the other
I agree that it doesn't matter because Hamill only plays as Luke (he is not Luke), but it's important to quote only someone's most recent input on a topic--what they last said and meant--when making any claims on what their thoughts or feelings are on *that* topic, now.

Otherwise, it's like Obi Wan saying Vader killed Luke's dad, Vader saying no and, afterwards, Obi Wan holding to what he said the first time--being blatantly misleading--instead of sharing his "point of view" explanation.
