I loved Tunic. GotY 2022.

I just love how much of it feels like a proper homage to Zelda 1, manual and all. In a lot of ways it captured the feel of not really knowing how a game works when you're still young and new to things.

The boss fights were a little rough around the edges, but overall the experience of figuring things out little by little was amazing.

This was a common thread way back when I was trying the game. Lots of people saying it is a short 1 sitting experience.

I'm guessing they were strictly following guides of some sort.

What? I've literally never seen anyone say this about the game.

I've seen people say that because it's a game that is gated by knowledge, that technically it can be finished very quickly. But never as a representation of actual expected game time.

I never got out of the starter planet because the jetpack controls were so horrifically bad. Came to the decision that there was nothing the game could do to make it worth it.

Will probably watch a playthrough one day.

Were you playing with keyboard/mouse or controller? The game recommends controller, but I think the kb/m controls are actually more intuitive.

I made a solid effort to like Outer Wilds, but really, I think it's just not the game for people who aren't into exploring for the sake of exploring. I prefer following objectives, in which case the game is terrible at pointing you in the right direction. I got frustrated and fed up with playing it.

Sure, the game is atmospheric and unique, but I found it too vague to enjoy.

I think it's pretty good if you open up the "Rumor Mode" in your ship's log/map. Pretty much every place has some sort of clue, and if you haven't seen everything in an area it will say "There's more to explore here".

The game doesn't really point you in a particular direction in the beginning because there's multiple ways to arrive at the clues you need.

Similar for me. I think Braid was also just not as impactful to me as The Witness was, so I'm far less interested in revisiting it. And Blow's narration is not exactly adding any appeal.

But yeah, I'd probably play a new game from him.

You probably got a varietal that's more neutral in flavor/fragrance and intended more as a filler grain than a significant component of the meal. I'd probably say use it in soups or stews.

If you want, maybe get some jasmine and or basmati to compare, as those are also long grain and will give you an idea of the difference.

Personally I tend to use medium grain rice like calrose (although I'll get jasmine if that's all I can find) because that's the texture/taste I'm used to.

Yeah, this is pretty much how I feel.

TotK technically had more "content", but not sure it was a net gain in terms of enjoyment. I also was not a huge fan of building in general, so the core mechanics were not as fun as the more basic abilities BotW had.

And I got the 32 egg item and also don't know where to use it. There was one place that I thought made a lot of sense but it did nothing. Those cubes with a face on them in the water area

Yeah, it wound up not being so bad. My main issue was that I thought I had to disc jump climb, which is unnecessarily difficult. Don't ask why I thought that was the right approach.

For the 32 egg item, there's one room near the bottom left of the map where it's important and will allow you to figure out where to use it.

big mode is dunkey's project of going from youtuber to gaming publisher and this is their first game released. basically he made a promise that games released here would be of a certain quality and he's living up to his standards.

I saw this at Day of the Devs before Dunkey launched his publisher business, so that really doesn't have anything to do with it for me.
