idk about the stationary ones, but I have a mount for my normal bike that kinda turns it into one of those stationary bikes. it even has a resistance thingy to make peddling easier or harder

it's not really ideal, but it's cool cus I can just use that during winter or if it's raining, and then go on regular bike rides when the weather is nice.

tbh, whenever I use it indoors for long periods (esp during winter) i lose interest cus I'm not really going anywhere. even riding the same bike trail over and over again to the point I have it memorized is still more fun than riding in on stationary location. and then it gives me options of "ok, I rode trail A yesterday, but trail A is still more fun than trail B...but, trail C is the most fun but the hills make my butt hurt" instead of "ok, where am I going today? oh yeah, nowhere"

but either way, I think it's still a good form of exercise in case you don't have places outdoors to ride and is still better then nothing. and that price for the stationary isn't too bad, even if it's something as a start I think it's probably a good investment.

vaping was harder for me to quit than cigs were
with vaping you have to be super conscious about it if you wanna quit, I used vapes to quit cigarettes and now I'm close to quitting vapes (at 0.9% nicotine, compared to disposable vapes which are 5% nicotine)
it is super easy to fall into the vaping habit because you can do it anywhere, but starting off with a low nicotine vape PLUS a zero nicotine vape, will help in my experience

basically I conditioned myself to associate the vape with a source of nicotine to cut the ciggies out of my life, then when that was established, I started using a 0% vape while incrementally lowering the nicotine content of my nicotine vape (started with 2.4-3%, 1.8%, now I mix the 1.8 with a 0% to make 0.9%)

it helps if you hate the icy tingly feeling that some vapes give. I can't stand that, so as soon as I started vaping primarily, I started getting juice flavors with the icy flavor. now, I'm miserable whenever I use my vape, and I started associating nicotine highs with that nasty feeling.
it also helps that vapes give me really bad nausea, so now whenever I think of nicotine of any sort, I feel my stomach start churning.

roll your own cigs or switch to a refillable vape.

rolling cigs is super cheap, and unless you smoke dunhills or were a fan of nat sherman, the tobacco quality is usually better (compared to newport, marlboro, american spirit, camels, etc)
when i rolled, it was like $20 a month to smoke half a pack a day.

now i switched to a refillable pod system and it's $18 a month besides the initial cost of the battery/pods which was $25.

i also grow my own tobacco (its super easy and legal unless you sell it), but i make that into cigars or pipe tobacco to give as gifts to family members.

as for beer, shop around at various liquor stores and look for expired beer that's less than 1-2 months expired. unless you're in a large metropolitan area, i can guarantee that at least one nearby store will have expired product that you like (lager, stouts, porters, and anything w/ a high abv will last much longer than the shelf life)
then, bring it to the counter and say "hey, this is expired, i'll take this off your hands for a 15-25% discount"
i do this all the time w/ seasonal craft beer, this past winter i was able to get 10 4-packs of southern tier pumking for $10 a 4-pack, normally it's $15.99

basically, tl;dr - turn into a crazy person like me and you will start to save money while still enjoying life.

yeah but it was when the app was still pretty new

i'd say, overall i had more actual convos w/ ppl i matched with there, but in terms of actual meetups bumble is still the best in my experience.
so, like boo, i'd have convos w/ prob 90% of matches, but only met up w/ 10% of that 90% (this is partly due to how few users were on there at the time, for a lot of my matches it said she was 100+ miles away)
on bumble, prob only 50% of matches messaged me, but i've gone on at least one date w/ every girl who's messaged me on there.

TopicThink romance ever just gets judged unfairly?
BucketCat
06/10/24 11:31:31 PM
#6
i think so, sometimes.
like, i think a lot of romance in movies/shows can be kinda cringey...but i think that adds to it. when ppl are super in love w/ each other, it's kinda cringe but a wholesome cringe.

i think a lot of the people who are judgmental of that, are being judgmental cus the romance is portrayed in a way that they personally don't handle romance, if that makes sense.

that said, i do think a lot of shows kinda shoehorn (idk if that's the right term) romances just for plot points.
like, im watching the office right now. i think jim and pam don't have chemistry, but they're like the quintessential sitcom couple (for millennials who grew up watching the office). tbh, i lost track of how many online dating accounts i've seen where they say something like "looking for the jim to my pam" or whatever, but after watching thru the show, it doesn't really seem like they were a good match

but then there's shows like how i met your mother, where the central focus of the plot is romance to some degree, and that show was really popular from what i remember

BucketCat
06/08/24 6:45:42 PM
#20
it depends what I'm drinking, but generally speaking I can drink a lot and still be civil (drunk, but I still remember my manners and to treat people kindly). if I drink too fast, I either get really sleepy or turn into Funny Guy, who's not funny at all but drunk me thinks it's funny.
nothing like bad, but I develop an almost unparalleled level of dad jokes with no off button.

basically when I drink w/ other people, I alternate between an alcoholic beverage and a big glass of water. If I'm having a few drinks by myself, I usually get distracted by games/books/my cat and it takes me like an hour to finish each glass of whatever I'm having.
