Well aren't both versions on the same ROM, and the game just switches between SoR and BK based on what region the console tells the cartridge it's from? I saw a YouTube video where a guy modded his Genesis to have a switch that toggled it from Japanese to American. He used it during the intro for some Streets of Rage game (the first one I think), and the text crawl changed languages part way through. Like the first few lines were in Japanese, then the next couple lines were English, and then it went back to Japanese for the last couple lines, with both languages staying onscreen.

From: TheRock1525 | #033 Metal Gear Rising wasn't cancelled. While there will be a game bearing that title released, it would seem that the Platinum-developed game that we will eventually get has little to do with the watermelon-slicing simulator that was originally previewed.

I think they could probably explain something about Dugan in Cap 2. I've got a strong feeling that Cap 2 will be about Winter Soldier, so they'll need SOMETHING to explain how a guy from Cap's time could still be around.

Easily the finest pre-SNES RPG for gameplay. The out-of-combat animations were smooth, the graphics were attractive, and the battle dynamics were awesome. FOI-WAT-ZAN! umm...

From: UltimaterializerX | #040 At the bare bones level, all Alex Jones really does is comment on public information. Breitbart came out and claimed info on Obama that would take down his entire presidency, then he was murdered the day before that info was planned to be released. Anyone can read the paper and see that as being fishy, but it always gets the "Jones Label" for whatever reason. Heart failure with no foul play suspected = OBVIOUS MURDER
Because OBVIOUSLY Obama had him assassinated and the coroners (UCLA Medical Center, HELLOOOOO??) were in on it.

Man these Clone Saga TPBs are kinda weirdly put-together. They cut it together in chronological order of the story, rather than release. So you get the flashback issues that tell the story of what happened to Ben Reilly between the 70s clone story and the 90s Clone Saga right at the beginning, even though they were released after Ben had taken over as Spider-Man and was believed to be the real Peter Parker, and the narration makes reference to that. Then immediately after that, you get the first appearances of Ben Reilly in the lead-in to the Clone Saga, where they won't tell you who he is or show his face because he's still a "mystery man". And the flashback issues also make it clear that Kaine is a flawed clone suffering from cellular degeneration, but then we get to the main stories and they're all like "Who is the mysterious KAINE???"
And in those lead-in issues, they even cut together only the few pages of each one that directly relate to Reilly and the Clone Saga, so you sort of get jump cuts that skip over the main plot of those issues. Like on one page Spider-Man running out of Aunt May's hospital room to chase down Mac Gargan (while mystery-man Reilly is in the background trying to sneak in to visit her), and then on the next page they have a "Some Time Later..." header and Spider-Man saying how Gargan seemed serious about trying to be a better person and he let him go.

From: metaIslugg | #048 It's crazy to me when people just buy stuff to later sell it over the course of months or years. Only to end up with a profit of 100 bucks or something. The Pawn Stars would never go for a deal like that! Probably has something to do with why they've got a successful TV show and this guy is sitting around in his underwear bidding on chewed-up DC figures.

You also have to take account how people count their games. Like I always count collections as just one game, but I know many people who would count each game in the collection as 1 game. For example I just purchased Jak & Daxter Collection on PS3 last week and that's just 1 game in my count and not 3
My rule is usually based on whether that's the only way they're available on a given platform or not. For example, FF5 and FF6 are only available on PSX as the FF Anthology, so they only count as 1. But GTA3 and Vice City are available on PS2 separately, so they count as separate games even though I got them in a double pack.

938 according to Backloggery, though to be fair 9 are missing, 1 is broken, and a few are PC expansions like Brood War and Lord of Destruction which I'm not sure if they should count as separate games or not.

Cable is included in my rent so obviously I have it. I still use it for a number of things like Raw and PPVs, and I need premium channels for shows like Dexter, Shameless, and Game of Thrones (as far as I know you still need to get the channels on cable to get things like HBO GO). And I don't really like HD antennas so I would rather have cable for broadcast stuff like sports, plus not all the sports I want to watch are on network channels anyway. There's still MNF on ESPN, hockey games on NBC Sports, and things like that. Also it's good to have TV viewing capabilities that don't use up my internet bandwidth for times when I need more than one thing at once, like if my son wants to watch Sesame Street while I'm on a video chat with my friends.
I mean sure, I could illegally download or stream most of this stuff, but I could steal pretty much anything I spend money on and I don't, so I don't see why I should steal TV.

I also have Pier Solar, that Genesis homebrew RPG that came out in 2010. That one was really up there for a while, but as they've reprinted it the price has gone down. It might go back up again once you can't get it new anymore, but it's still worth more than what I paid for it originally.
The only other homebrews I have are Battle Kid and Nomolos on NES, which are both readily available on retrousb.com, but if they ever go off the site I'm sure they'll jump up. Homebrews can really be valuable because they often have such limited runs, and collectors who want ALL the games always want em.

I got a letter from them earlier this month saying my tax return for 2010 was all wrong and please pay them $2,700 more. Apparently what happened is my wife's old job reported her Q1 earnings twice by mistake (it seems like they were switching over their payroll software, and the new one went live before they pulled the plug on the old one I guess?). This phony income was reported to the IRS on a separate W-2, which we never got because I guess by that time the old software was shut down and not issuing any W-2s, despite having already told the IRS about it.
We were only informed of this error originally through hearsay and conjecture from some of my wife's former coworkers, who called her and said there was something wrong with 2010's W-2s, but were unable or unwilling to elaborate. We didn't get any official word from the employer who made the mistake until we contacted them and asked for it. Possibly this is because we moved shortly after she left that job; we set up mail forwarding with the Post Office, but that's only active for 1 year so I guess they neglected to inform us about the error for more than 1 year. Whoever lives at our old apartment now is probably extremely well-versed in the whole goings-on.
But it SHOULD be straightened out fairly easily. I have a form showing the correction and a letter explaining the error, so if the IRS listens to reason they will accept that I owe them nothing and the matter will be settled. I'm just REAAAALLY worried that they'll just ignore everything I sent them and be like "Nope, pay up!"

From: crazyisgood | #088 How do you determine rarity?
I think most people are judging it more by sell price, which is easier to gauge in a meaningful way than actual rarity. Earthbound for example is not particularly rare, but it is highly sought-after so it commands a higher price.

LoS was more of a level-based action game. It had platforming kinda like Uncharted and combat kinda like God of War. It was a decent game and I think unfairly maligned by those who won't accept non-Metroidvanias.
The combat had an interesting hook with the magic system. You didn't really have magic spells, you just activated either light or dark magic which enhanced your normal attacks; light magic healed you when you attacked enemies, while dark magic increased your damage. The interesting part came in because enemies only dropped the orbs that fueled your magic when you hit them with no magic activated. You could then absorb it to refill either your light magic meter or your dark magic meter (or I think you could do it half and half). So you were constantly switching between light magic, dark magic, and no magic to keep things going, and I believe you needed to try to keep your combo going and do things like parries which cause more of the magic orbs to drop.
Wouldn't mind seeing that magic system return at all.

I'd rather see a new old-school Castlevania. Something that brings together the best elements of Castlevania III, Dracula X, Super Castlevania IV, and Bloodlines, and ratchets up the difficulty beyond even what the NES games were known for.

From: Emporer_Kazbar | #014 ...it couldn't happen anyway, because there's literally no physically possible way any combination of anything in the entire world could pay it.
LimeWire has to give RIAA all the money, and then get a job working for RIAA (as will everyone else, since they would have all the money) to pay back the rest.

BTW the best price guide I've seen around is on dinkydana.com
I don't see anywhere that it says but I am pretty sure the prices are for complete games, but I could be wrong; $157.95 for a complete Earthbound seems a little low, as does $2.95 for a ton of unpopular common games.

I don't have much with a notable sell price. Best I've got are Bust-A-Groove 2 for PSX, Crusader of Centy for Genesis, and Pulseman for the Japanese Mega Drive (although I just bought that one on Friday night, it hasn't arrive yet). Only Bust-A-Groove is complete though, the other two I bought loose and with one or two extremely minor nicks on the label so I could get them cheaper (in the $40-$50 range instead of $100+) since I really only care about playing them.

From: RappinHobo9292 | #055 That's still sealed though. Prices skyrocket if they're sealed
Big boxes like Earthbound (also Mario Paint, maybe others?) were NEVER "sealed". If you got every component of the package in like-new condition and put it all inside the box properly, there would be no way to tell if it had ever been opened and used or not. If you see one sold with shrinkwrap, that's one that someone shrinkwrapped after the fact to fool buyers.

He already has a bunch of this stuff up for auction. Individual action figures ranging from 20 - 60 dollars.
I dunno, I count 36 figures in that picture so it's already up to $18.78 per figure. Much higher and he won't have a lot of profit left, even for the prices he's charging, and that's assuming he can sell all of em for the prices he wants.
