Even if they didn't cover that for whatever reason, you could always just buy another after the price drop, and then return it on the $250 receipt.

Apparently repeatedly screaming "BUT THY CLANSMEN ARE DYING" while killing their Keeper still gets you to side with the elves, huh. If I had sided with the werewolves, could I have recruited them or is it just the races with the treaties that can be recruited?

Also, Alistair rep points up. Thought he was a Lawful idiot, but he actually approved of killing the Keeper and sided with the werewolves in the end.

Also... is the Urn missable if I don't look for it?

Just wait til you get do DA 2 when all four romancable party members are available to both male and female players. As opposed to DA, where only three are (two bi, two straight, both having one of each gender).
