Also decided to make a series of prints based on photos I've taken. Right now planning on a set of 3 for each of Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo. (I really need to travel some where else so I can have some variety in my photos...)

The manga was pretty cool, but if I remember correctly, the movie, book, and manga are all pretty different. The book was definitely my favorite out of the three.

Copics. Just started using them last week and I already love them.
https://www.draftingsuppliesdew.com/ has the best prices I've encountered for them.

Michael's and Hobby Lobby also carry them for $7 a marker. Hobby Lobby also has small sets for $40 but you can use their 40% off coupon and get them for $24. If you want to try them out I'd suggest picking up the Skin tone set or the Gray set from Hobby Lobby to play around a bit.

Just covered it in masking paper and cut out the background (was slightly terrified I'd cut into the drawing) to get ready for airbrushing. Just need to go buy an air compressor now and hope I don't run out of the colors I'm using.

Indeed, glad to be done with that part.

And had a friend suggest an interesting idea for this:
Going to add some sort of flower to the bottom, then have all of the items around the skull be colored like a color wheel.
So cords green, lenses yellow, camera orange, flower red.
Probably going to do the skull in skin tones and the background shades of gray.
This will be the most ridiculously colorful thing I've ever drawn. >_>


Actually after some quick mockups in Photoshop I may instead mirror the blue/purple to the other side. Every color might be a bit much.

Every few days (probably around a week) we'll have a new topic with a new subject. Anyone is free to post their version of that subject using whatever medium they choose.

You may have to go over large areas several times to get perfectly even coloring; the best thing about them is how they blend.
I'm still very new and not great with them, but even still can get some good results.

Here is some quick progress with them.



Another great thing about them is the naming scheme used.
Everything has a letter for the color it falls under (R, B, BG, etc,) a color number (0-10,) and a brightness number (0-10.) Lets you very easily determine what markers will blend well together. (B02 and B05 will blend perfectly while B02 and B25 won't blend as smoothly.)
I didn't think much of this system until I started blending and realized how much easier this makes picking out markers.
