The point is because a lot of people are claiming it's a "great game" and a "great rivalry." Neither of which I believe are true. I'd be able to accept your arguments a lot more if you just admitted to this fact, rather then acting like these are two characters getting undeservedly snubbed.

These are two clear joke nominations. I have no problem with joke nominations getting in, but I do take issue with people claiming these are a legitimately well done rivals.

plenty of rivalry's are going to get in that aren't "great" or "well-written" or "involving interesting characters", hell I bet the winning pair is going to involve at least one bland non-entity

great is pushing it - it's a fun little parody game.

if Barkley Gaiden was a 'legit' game and not just a popular rpgmaker project, they'd probably be in. this is a silly unlicensed comedy game that actually ends up being pretty fun. I get why you guys are trying to compare it to Dynasty Warriors and stuff, but it's just to find a loophole. you don't actually think Barkley vs. Jordan is a great rivalry for the ages. it's just funny to think of it that way and you want it in. that makes sense, but so does disallowing it for that same reason.

pokemon trainer red/blue isn't a great rivalry for the ages, people are just nomming it because they like the pokemon games

CBSUaJG is definitely more niche but if it has enough of a fanbase on GameFAQs to get it through, I don't see the harm in giving it's fans a break

Is there anything known about the Dynasty Warrior guys other than that they existed and they were the leader of such and such army? Because if not, that's pretty different than public figures from the previous century.

i'm pretty sure the characters and events of Charles Barkley Shut Up and Jam Gaiden have a bit of fiction in them as well

I know the game - but entries like that lead to two possibilities: 1) It gets almost no votes, and goes out in the first round despite all the nominations, while keeping a better entry off the bracket, or 2) it becomes a /b/ rally point, winning and knocking out more popular entries, but alienating the majority of voters and leading to less people being interested in the contest (See: the latest GameSpot contest).
