It happens after Yuna stays up all night after Operation Mi'ihen tending to the wounded and Tidus has to go wake her up so they can resume the Pilgrimage.

40. Thane Krios (Mass Effect)

Thane is such a fascinating character. There aren’t many others like him out there. He comes in like a boss and goes out like a boss, and he’s totally awesome all along the way. I think Thane is one of those rare characters who never really does anything that irritates or annoys me. He’s always so pleasant to talk to, personable and humble, just a nice guy. Seems kinda strange to say that about a professional assassin, but that’s part of what makes him so fascinating. Thane was also one of the few ME2 characters who seemed like he always had something to say when you went to talk to him, even if you weren’t romancing him, which is nice. He's just such a compelling character. His character design is really awesome, too. I love the way drell look.

We’re first introduced to Thane in the second half of the game on our second round of recruitment missions. He’s on an assassination mission of his own, and we’re trying to find him while he’s hunting down his target. This is probably my favorite recruitment mission of the game, along with Garrus’s. You don’t actually find him until the very end of the mission, as he sneaks in while Nassana’s freaking out about him and takes her out before she even realizes what’s going on. She’s paranoid about the assassin the entire time, and he still manages to ambush her and take her out. What a boss.

Right after we meet Thane, we discover a distressing fact about him: He’s dying from a rare disease, with only months left to live. He doesn’t seem to be too disturbed by it though (Thane’s general “cool” demeanor is one of the things I love about him, too. Even if you choose to be a jerk to him, he takes it all in stride). Thane had planned on this mission being his last, but the appeal of a suicide mission leads him to join Shepard. After all, he doesn’t have much to lose since he only has a handful of months left to live anyway. Plus, it’ll give him the opportunity to contribute something good to the galaxy before he passes off the scene.

But I love talking to Thane, just listening to his general philosophies on life and his spiritual side. It’s really interesting listening to his views on the afterlife, his thoughts on respecting the dead, praying for forgiveness after he takes out a target, and things like that. I love those moments where he perfectly recalls his memories, especially in regard to his family. The conversation where he tells you about what happened to his wife and how he enacted revenge on her killers was really good, talking about how assassins are normally trained to kill quickly, but he let them linger. He also has a really good quote describing his family situation and how his work essentially ruined them: "I abandoned them. No, not all at once. Nothing dramatic, no sneaking out in the middle of the night. No final argument or slammed door. I just… did my job." His Loyalty Mission is decent. I’m not a big fan of trailing the target, but it does have the distinction of being one of the few you can fail (And Thane’s line, “Entropy wins again…Entropy always wins” is good. You can really feel the disappointment in that). The interrogation aspect is pretty great, as is the line he says to Kolyat if you succeed: “I’ve taken many bad things out of this world, but you were the only good thing I ever added to it.” So good.

His role in Mass Effect 3 is brief but amazing. I won’t touch on it too much right now, but you can rest assured we will be revisiting it at a later date.

Always gotta have a character with a weapon with Initiative on it when you're in Omega Ruins, for sure!

Also, Omega Ruins is a decent dungeon, but nothing special. It's got some tough enemies, although after a while, I get tired of fighting Mimics. I was also expecting Omega to be a bit tougher than he ended up being, but at least Kimahri learned Nova from him.

You can keep it at two saves required but lower the amount of saves per hour to one. It would have the same effect.
