Almost time to get ready to move out of my apartment, so let's get a quick update done here first.
317. San Francisco Rush: Extreme Racing - N64
316. Dynasty Warriors 4: Xtreme Legends - PS2
315. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars - SNES
The first time I played this game was actually on VC. You'd think that the spiritual predecessor to the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series, two of my favorites of all time, would be right up my alley, but it wasn't. I really, really wish I would've found this game sooner, because I know I absolutely would've loved it. It's just that after 6 games in the aforementioned series, Super Mario RPG suddenly seems obsolete today. I'd have to load it up to be sure, but I think I only made it to the Yoshi's place (I know, real far) before I moved on to something else. Recently, I've watched NintendoCapriSun play through the game, and it looks a lot more fun when you know what you're doing. Oh well. *shrugs*
314. Halo 2 - Xbox
Strangely enough, this was the game that made me get an Xbox. All of my friends had it, and would link up for some big 8-player LAN games all the time. Now that it's all said and done, I don't get what I saw in it other than the social experience. Every once in a while, we'd have a great moment involving the Ghosts crashing or something, but that was about it. I still have at least rented some version of every Halo that's come out since, thinking it will completely change my mind, and it never does. Eventually, I'm going to have to learn that I'll just never really like Halo.

To quote the last topic regarding the game Track and Field, "I was not willing to sit around and try a bunch of **** to get some virtual dude to run when I had some mother****ing ducks to shoot." I also mentioned that I was pretty ****ing bad at video games when I was a kid. This includes Super Mario Bros. I actually did play this game quite a bit back in the day, but I never managed to make much progress. I might have made it to World 3 once or twice. I know history looks back on SMB much more favorably than it does Duck Hunt, but I, for one, sure as hell don't.
318. Luigi's Mansion - GCN
I haven't played this game since a few months after it first came out. My first two games for Gamecube were THPS 3 and SSBM, so there was some extremely stiff competition for my gaming time in early 2002. When the time came to figure out what to get next, I was torn between this and Wave Race: Blue Storm. Wave Race was more of a known quantity, as I had played two games in its series before, while Luigi's Mansion was a new and original game. I decided renting the latter would be the safest bet.
To be honest, I'm really glad I did. I thought the game was a lot of fun. Running around sucking up ghosts like the god damn Ghostbusters really appealed to my teenage self. I'll never forget the baby ghost, either. That thing freaked me out so bad back then. The whole feel of the room he was in gave me chills. There's just not a whole lot to do in the game once you finish it, so that's why I'm glad I rented it. If I ever come across a used copy of the game somewhere, I want to try to go through it again someday. I'm not adamant enough about this to check eBay or anything, but if I stumble upon it somewhere for not much money, I'd definitely give it another go.

Don't feel too bad if you missed this one; this was meant to be somewhat of a curveball. Anyone who has me befriended on XBL knows that I play almost every online FPS out on the market. The thing about this game was that I had never even touched it until mere weeks before Bad Company 2 came out. My friend Jeremy (also discussed in the previous topic) wanted me to get it for cheap, so a bunch of us would be ready to squad up when its sequel came out. It wasn't a poor game at all, it's just that I only played it for a few hours to get a hang of the mechanics. The class system was fantastic, and the squad system makes the game a lot of fun, assuming you have a few other people to play with. That's the one weakness this game has: if you're playing alone, good luck getting a damn thing accomplished. I will be very excited to see what Battlefield 3 has to offer.
Only a few correct answers, and none that change the high score. It's still very possible for a new user to the leaderboard to come in and win, so don't be afraid to try!
What game will be ranked 300th?
A. Wii Sports - Wii B. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Xbox C. Planet Puzzle League - DS
It should be really fun when it becomes apparent which of these three I ranked the highest (and by far). =D
Battleship on Game Boy. To be honest, this is one of the games I played most as a kid. Just dumb, simple fun.
324. Zone of the Enders - PS2
Because of such high praise for the second game by my buddy Chris (who was explored in the other topic), when I happened to come across a copy of the first one used for cheap at Gamestop, I had to pick it up. It wasn't bad, but it didn't seem nearly as polished as what I saw him play of the second one. Good game, but I've seen better.
I lumped these together, mainly because I really can't distinguish any of them in particular anymore. I'm pretty sure Deadly Alliance is the one my friends and I played the most, though. One of them found a seemingly infinite loop in Drahmin's grab, and could destroy the rest of my friends with him, but I found a way out of it with Scorpion, which almost made him stop playing. >___>
Ah, those were the days....

Yeah, screw it, I thought this game was awesome. It probably took, like, zero time to program, and was about as simple a GBA game could possibly get, but it was DBZ, and it truly did the show justice, imo.
327. Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode Two - PS3 326. Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode One - PS3
I'm almost forced to rank these two games back to back because they're the same ****ing game. Not that that's a terribly bad thing, but the first game had flaws, and Episode Two didn't even try to fix 'em. In a nutshell, they're really short RPG's with decent mechanics and great humor. To sum it up with one aspect, your main enemy in the games are "Fruit ****ers". Yep. There was a sale a few months back where you could get both of them on PSN for $4 or something, which is an incredible deal. If something along those lines comes back around, I would definitely suggest trying it out.
I had heard that the original Stuntman was really unforgiving and not worth the trouble you had to go through to continue. I had also heard that Ignition fixed a lot of the problems, and had a lot of really cool scenes to drive through. They were right. Also, there's a movie about a pair of Dukes-of-Hazard-esque brothers that you have to drive for, and the directors for this particular movie is ****ing hilarious.
Amazing stuff.
330. James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire - GCN
My friends and I didn't care if it was basically just Goldeneye Lite; it was still a pretty great game in our book. If only the multiplayer maps were better, this would've been a lot higher.
329. Viewtiful Joe 2 - GCN
I don't know if it's because it didn't differentiate itself from the first game enough, or it just didn't create the same emotion as the first one did, or maybe I just played through the first one way too many times, but it just never made me want to continue playing after the first few hours. I'm sure it's probably just as good as VJ1, but not to me.
SimCity's a lot of fun in doses, but I never could play for more than about 2 hours at a time without getting really bored of it and unleashing chaos upon my city.
333. Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks - PS2
Shaolin Monks was a really weird approach to Mortal Kombat, but I kinda liked it. It was a lot of fun with a friend, but was pretty boring if you were playing solo.
332. Cel Damage - GCN
I thought Cel Damage was a lot better than people gave it credit for. It had charming characters, well-built maps, and fun separate game modes besides just destroying every other car. Also, Brian the Brain FTW.

This probably marks the point where I get into full-on recommendation mode. Every game beyond this point is either pretty damn good, hits a soft spot with me in particular, or has a decent combination of both. This game has a combination of both. Its nothing special, just a basic first-person survival game, but it has a very fluid combat system and still some impressive in-game graphics. As a scaredy-cat, it hit just the right balance of horror and game to keep me entertained and my underwear dry. The story sucks ass, and the cutscenes graphics are actually laughable, the game itself is definitely worth a play for the <$10 its bound to be today.
335. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES - PS2
I found a used copy of this game a few years back for chump change, and with all the hype B8 put into it, I had to try it. Through the first 40 hours or so, I had a lot of fun, but when summer hit, a question dawned on me that I hadnt thought about before. Whats the point of this? Is this worth it? I had gone through FORTY hours of this game, and wasnt even halfway done. I liked the characters, but other than Junpei and Yukari, none of them felt like they were interacting together like normal people would. I enjoyed the battle system, but occasionally, there was that one freak critical hit would come in, and my party would do **** to help me and then GAME OVER. This has got to be one of the most frustrating scenarios in all my years of gaming. This happened twice in a row right after summer vacation, and I had had enough.
Oh, I just saw your topic. Yeah, just one of the RPG's you mention in it is on here, and it's the DS version. I won't give much away other than you'll probably be pretty pleased with where I've got it.

11 of those 18 games are on my list. Highest of those comes in 3rd, lowest is 288th. And given my list so far, it may surprise many what both of those happen to be.
This is the one Bomberman game on the list, though I wish I wouldve found the series earlier than three years ago. Single-player is good, multi is fantastically addictive. Its just really hard to go from playing newer games to old 2D games like Bomberman. A few of my friends and I actually played this quite a bit whenever we were really bored, and it never failed to produce some great moments. If only we had discovered it earlier .
338. Madden 2004 - GCN
While American football is my favorite sport to watch consistently (THE football comes first in World Cup years), its my second least favorite to play video games of, behind basketball. That said, Ive always had a lot of fun playing manager mode and making the Chiefs relevant again. Its actually kinda weird that they ARE relevant again, because Im not quite used to it yet. I wouldnt really have much to do any more, besides let some prospects grow.
I sort of went off onto a whole different tangent, but honestly, I dont have much else to say on the games. Moving on
337. Gunstar Heroes - Genesis
Heres another game where my first experience playing it came on VC. I havent had much experience playing side-scroller shooters, even now, so Im not sure if this one was hard, or I just suck at them, but I tried countless times to beat the last level, and failed miserably. My only references to use are two Contra games (which so happen to have both been forgotten by the time I finalized my list), so .. yeah. The green boss was incredibly original, and while it took me a few tries to beat him, it was awesomely satisfying. That goes for much of the game, actually; the pickups, the levels, etc. Im just bitter because I cant ****ing beat that last level!

What better way to round out the bottom 100 than one in arguably the greatest series of all-time? Id never really liked any of the Zelda games up to this point, and I dont know why I thought it would change for this entry, but I was right. For a while. When I first got to the sea, I had a blast sailing all over the place, seeing what all I could find in the huge Wind Waker world. I started filling up maps and starting sidequests, and was having a pretty good time. I hit a snag once I reached the stealth portion at the Forsaken Fortress, but I pushed through it to get to what was next. I wasnt too interested in the overarching story, and the bosses were a little lackluster compared to Ocarina of Time, but the dungeons were good, and thats what mattered to me.
Then I learned that the Triforce is broken and I need to find its pieces. Sorry, but collect-athons are not a fun game mechanic in the first place. When you tell me to switch from spelunking dungeons and wandering around in my own time to just wandering around and hopefully coming across something that progresses the plot, I wont be a happy person. The pacing was just fine before, and this just totally threw the whole game out of whack. I wasnt terribly invested in the game other than to fight through some fun dungeons anyway, so that was enough for me.
Whos ready for some more *****ing? Well, well get there, trust me, but first, some praise is due. This is the one game of which my opinion differs most from the general public, and this time, I am fully aware why. The game looks fantastic. Theres a perfect blend of exploration and hand-holding to get you from beginning to end, while you can still wander about and pick up expansions and other items. The different weapons are all useful, and each has their own properties to make them more appropriate than the others in various situations. The enemies are just varied enough to keep you entertained as you slaughter their entire race (sorry wasps) to move on. The graphics are still top-notch, even today, and was probably the best-looking game I had seen at the time. And finally, the lore spread about gives a great deal of intrigue to the player to find out whats happening on the planet.
MSG, what are you talking about? How could this game possibly be in your bottom 20 if this is what you have to say about it? My problem with Metroid Prime can be summed up with one word. Controls. This game has the absolute worst control scheme I have ever come across in a video game. There are two control sticks on a Gamecube controller, why is one of them not used? Why can I not strafe without locking on to something? Why do I keep falling off ledges when Im walking and jumping? Oh wait, I know the answer to that one, its because I CANT ****ING SEE WHERE IM WALKING BECAUSE I CANT ****ING LOOK DOWN AND WALK AT THE SAME TIME. Ive heard plenty of arguments that its not a First Person Shooter, but rather a First Person Adventure game, and thats why the control scheme is the way it is. But when Im trying to jump from platform to platform, in an ADVENTURE game mind you, it is absolutely imperative that I be able to see where Im jumping. Instead, I have to just guess when Im in mid-air whether Ive jumped far enough or not. That is inexcusable game design.
I have tried playing this game on three different occasions over the years. Not once have I ever made it to the chozo relics. I have never once died, or got lost (on accident) in Metroid Prime. I simply got frustrated trying to work with the controls I am given. A good control scheme is just something I have to have to be able to enjoy a game, and in that regard, Metroid Prime failed miserably. Recently, I decided to watch Slowbeefs LP of it on their website, and the game still looks fantastic, every aspect of it. Its just that when you give me the controller, I cant handle it. To this day, Im still keeping an eye out for the Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii, because I hear that it can all be controlled with the Wii Remote, and I know that if I have a plausible control scheme, I would love the MP games. But until then, I refuse to even touch it.
A while back, I began my ranking at #450, and had made it to #340, at which point I hit a snag, because of a highly unusual workload my job put on me. Well, it's finally time to bring it back up!
For those that missed it before, I'm holding a contest as the series of topics moves along. Every 20th game, there is a multiple choice question asking for what game will be placed at exactly the next 20th mark.
For instance, which game is 420th? A. San Francisco Rush 2049 B. Lego Island C. Dynasty Warriors 4
Because I will never use a game that is ranked before the question's answer is announced, you can also read this as "which game will be placed last from this list?" Simple stuff. Each correct answer will get you a point, and whoever has the most points by the time the list is over will receive a free game of $10 or less on the platform of their choice.
As for the leaderboard, I was 99% sure I had an up-to-date list, but I apparently have only kept a very old version, where Zazi has 2 points, and a few others have 1. This is not good. I'd rather simply award you guys' loyalty to the previous topic, so I've decided to start with Zazi in the lead with 4 (as he actually had), and anyone I can possibly remember guessing before with 3 (as a few others actually had). This is the most fair way I can think of to resume play, as no one gets shorted points they earned. Probably the only one against this is Zazi, but if he gets the rest right, then he's got it! Besides, he'll forgive me.
If I miss you, let me know. I have a great memory, but it only seems to work when I have a little refresher. -__-
I know for a fact I've missed multiple users because that's not nearly long enough, so again, just post in the topic, and I'll get you back to where you need to be on the list.
As for the important part of the topic, here's a recap of the games. Write-ups ARE still 100% safe, so if anyone new to the topic would like to see them, let me know, and I'll post it back up.

I can't, unfortunately. As I've gone along, I've sat here and thought to myself, "god dammit, I totally forgot _____". Like MLB Slugfest 2004, for instance. There are a bunch of games out there that I no longer have access to that I just didn't remember before I made the original topic.
