Once the Time Turner is created, all future events involving that Time Turner will automatically occur.

The guy that invented the time turner obviously went back in time and left the plans on his desk so he could invent it.

Time Travel paradoxes whoo. She was always in both places at once and she never missed any lessons, because if she did, she couldn't have gone back in time and been in it, because that would have caused a paradox. It's a closed loop with no start, which is, of course, a paradox.

MWIS, a friend of mine basically gave me a computer. While I've had trouble getting it to work, I've been able to get my old laptop drive in there and got ALL my old archives back. Looking at it I unfortunately only got the first topic archived, but if you still want them for what old debates we had and whatnot I can email the files or upload them online or something.

We found them elsewhere, it's cool.

Whenever people reach a new userlevel, it's name is set at ??? When enough of them reach it, they have a vote on what it should be called. They decided on "? Block" for Level 38. Level 39 is set at 10,000 karma, so we should get there in about 11 years assuming the Top 50 guys are still here every day for that long since Karma Boosts have been killed.

The 45KL was not a single moderation. I got hit with some 3KLs, warnings, and a 15 (or 30?) KL right after. I might also be a bit off with the 45KL, but it was around there.

I count it as a 45KL because those moderations were all thrown at me within the span of two minutes.

So you got modded lots for lots of ToU violations. OK. And we can't remove more karma from you in one moderation than 10 for a warning.

That's just not true. Rather, the majority of the posters on this site don't actually know what the ToU says and believe theat everything they say is divine and therefore can't be deleted, because it's true/he deserved it/it's not illegal where I live/some other stupid reason.

A: Go to the marketplace with Rikku.
B: Go to the marketplace without Rikku.

These options basically read:
A) Meet Yosuke.
B) Go check out Tom Nook's store.

We've been to the marketplace with Rikku already. It's not a bad decision, but it's not brilliant. Yosuke is another Al Behd member, he has links to easy food, but we can already get food from him via Rikku or free from the cafeteria. He does also share a room with Amir, which is another possibly better way to get in contact with him.

Tom Nook on the other hand is an Anthro, who is willing to deal with humans, so we would be able to find a limited amount of information out there. Definitely an idea to consider.

C: Go to Seventh Heaven with Rikku.
D: Go to Seventh Heaven without Rikku.

These 2 are shots in the dark at a place we left hastily after a fight. Sure, we might run into someone useful, but it's definitely not a worthwhile choice.

E: Ask Rikku for directions to the Anthros' park; travel to the park with Rikku.
F: Ask Rikku for directions to the Anthros' park; investigate the area without Rikku.

These are the most direct way of scouting for the sidequest and also, easily the most risky. Rikku is Al Behd and taking her into hostile territory with no idea what we're facing is absurd. Going without Rikku is better, but still carries an element of risk. It would be better to have some knowledge before we blunder in.

G: Attempt to speak with Odessa in Room 101.

Odessa has made it clear that she's not going to tell us what we want to know till it's time. She holds all the cards at this point and we won't be able to pressurize her into anything without poisoning her towards us.

H: Ask Rikku where to find Jax Briggs, and attempt to speak with him.

This is what I believe is the best option. We further ingratiate ourselves with the Al Bhed, by talking to someone who has some influence and some money. He will have information about Canderous, who despite his Social Link, we still know nothing about and probably about the Al Bhed.

J: Attempt to gain access to Vercetti's headquarters with Rikku.
K: Attempt to gain access to Vercetti's headquarters without Rikku.

There is no reason for us to do these whatsoever.

So, for those reasons, I'm voting H and would urge you all to do the same, with B my second choice if I had to make one.

TopicWhy single-payer health care is immoral
nintendogirl1
07/07/11 8:20:00 PM

Cigarette taxes don't go towards paying for the health care of smoking-related illness. They get dumped into a general fund that goes mostly to social security, medicare, unwinnable foreign wars, and payments on the debt.

Whether or not the money is specifically earmarked to as "smokers taxes" and only used for that purpose is irrelevant so long as the numbers coming in and going out are the same, which I believe they should be.

From: SmartMuffin | #085
What about unhealthy eating? What about a sedentary lifestyle?

The first person eats more food and therefore pays additional taxes on the food that they eat. Someone who lives a sedentary lifestyle will generally pay more in electricity bills and at the same time use less public facilities such as parks and roads, which also cost taxes.

The health risks of smoking have already caused it to be banned from nearly all public areas.

The reason that smoking is banned in public areas is not to restrict people's freedoms but to stop smokers from infringing on others' freedoms. Why should your freedom to smoke be more important than my freedom to not have to inhale your smoke?

I'm not sure what your point is exactly. Mine is that the government can use "smokers increase the cost of health care and are therefore bankrupting our nation" as a justification to ban smoking which decreases our liberty.

Yeah... but they don't. Since I live in a country with universal healthcare that is free at point of use, I'm pretty sure on that fact. Besides which, they could just raise the tax on cigarettes. But your right, they're far more likely to ban cigarettes. /sarcasm

We done here?
TopicWhy single-payer health care is immoral
nintendogirl1
07/07/11 7:50:00 PM

1) Those who choose not to smoke are forced to subsidize the medical costs of those who choose to smoke. Please keep in mind that "free health care" is not in fact free, it is paid for by tax dollars. This is obviously completely and totally unfair. It is immoral to force someone who makes good choices to pay for the bad choices of others.

I deny this as a fact. Someone who smokes pays more money in taxes when they buy cigarettes. This extra income is then used on their healthcare.

2) In the interest of being fair to the non-smokers, the government can declare smoking illegal. This is also an immoral choice as it deprives individuals of freedom. Individuals own their own bodies (unless they voluntary agree otherwise) and should be free to make these choices for themselves. If I want to dramatically shorten my life-span in order to enjoy the benefits of smoking, I should be free to do so.

You appear to have constructed this argument out of thin air, merely to rant about a loss of freedoms that doesn't exist. Why would any government do this and do you have any evidence of a democratically elected government doing anything like this?

We've already seen the Marketplace and even Junes, with Rikku before. Yes, we'd meet Yosuke, but we can't befriend everyone in the world and we have only a limited time before the sidequest. Ignoring the main plot (Odessa) and the sidequest (Jax, potentially Nook, the Anthro Park) to go making friends with someone just because we have a Level 1 Social Link with their girlfriend seems like a dumb move to me. We're not going to be in Sector 7 forever and we almost certainly won't be bringing these all our Social Links with us.

From: Leebo86 | #015
mostly circumstantial evidence.

From: Jmast7 | #020
the prosecutors brought some pretty sketchy science

You all as much said in this topic that you all thought the evidence for the prosecution wasn't good enough. The whole point of the trial process is that you're only guilty if the prosecution can prove beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty. Clearly they couldn't.

Therefore: Not Guilty.

Whether or not she actually did it is irrelevant, they couldn't prove she did it, so she gets off.
